We'll keep coming back to Millie's anytime we're near Daytona just for the Francaise. I always get the fish (grouper this time), and my husband gets the scallops. Tucked away in a little commercial strip is this gem. If you do nothing else, get the steak and mushroom cream soup. It was AMAZING!!! My kiddo and hubby both had burgers. My daughter said it was the juiciest burger she's had outside of our kitchen at home. The house made chips were also very good. I had the pulled pork tacos. The pork texture was kind of mushy, I was not a fan. However everything else on the taco was crunchy and flavorful and fresh. Our table had a gap in the boards that made up the table top. Millie's is one of the hidden gem local spots that you wish for. We've been there many times with family and friends. The Seafood is normally local caught, fresh and prepared/served amazingly well. The vegan fare consists of salads and a mushroom based patty which is pretty good. It's what I have every time. Wish they had more options but it's not their thing. Ate there last night with a large party of 15. It's a small place so we took up the small deck outside. The servers were very attentive as we ll as the people bringing out food. Everyone was very polite, happy and eager to serve. The menu is a nice blend of dinner plates as well as salads and sandwiches. The atmosphere is casual but the food is more upscale. Everything is taken up a notch compared to a similar small restaurant in the area. I ordered the special which was seared grouper and 2 shrimp with fingerling potatoes and grilled zucchini. The one thing I noticed right away is that the fish was fresh and therefore had a good taste and texture. I ate at another restaurant the night before where the fish had probably been frozen and the difference was noticeable. The meal had a high end feel in a casual restaurant. Others had chicken Caesar salads, wedge salads, steak sandwich, vegetable platter, etc. everything looked good and everyone was pleased with their food. One individual thought the steak sandwich was tough but I didn't hear that until several hours after dinner so I'm not sure. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back anytime I'm in the area. Parking isn't great and the place is really small so you have to deal with that. Don't eat at the chain restaurants when in the Daytona Beach area. They made it a point to let you know that it's a farm to table kind of restaurant. The only thing that matters is that it tasted good. I understand they are known for the gator ribs... but get the seafood. They do it right. I felt like I was at a good Jersey shore seafood restaurant. Florida seafood places tend to not allow the seafood to be the star of the dish ( Cajun spices/ fried foods). We've tried Millie's three times because the reviews are decent, and I really wanted to like it. The restaurant is an old, nondescript building with bland, unattractive exterior siding covering the interior walls. The exterior is also uninviting, and parking can be difficult due to other businesses sharing the limited parking and the restaurant wasn't busy; it was actually almost an empty restaurant on two of our most recent lunch visits. The food is FAR better than the aesthetics. The burger was cooked to order and tasted great! The fish sandwich was good (exceptional, even), but you'll walk away hungry if you have any appetite. The portion is surprisingly small, maybe 3 ounces and certainly not more than four ounces of fish for well over $20 with a few fries. I guess that portion shouldn't have surprised me when I saw their "fish dinner" on the menu said 6 ounces of fish (for almost $30). My complaint isn't about the price or quality; it's the small portions. This trip our party of four was celebrating a birthday and brought a small cake. We were told before we were seated that Millie's has a "cake cutting fee" of $15 if we chose to have birthday cake. The man who seated us said "we sell desserts so we charge a price of two desserts as a cake cutting fee." We enjoyed the birthday as a group, paid their $15 cake fee and a well-deserved 25% tip on top of that as our server, Sophia, was exceptional! The cake-cutting fee (and his very matter-of-fact attitude when telling us about their "fee") ensured this was the last visit to Millie's for this party of four. Many restaurants provide a birthday dessert, which we didn't expect, but a $15 charge for bringing a 7" cake is a first for any of us. read more

She was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and detail oriented. She explained each we asked about in detail. Also gave us history of the restaurant and noted they were "boat to table!!" We had two out of town couples join us for an evening out and dinner at Millie's. Our new "go-to" place! I cannot keep from ordering the Filet & Shrimp Fondue! Don't let the exterior fool you. Inside is a nicely decorated dining room with rustic tables and cozy alcoves. Service is friendly but non-intrusive and the food is master chef quality. The menu is not large but put together to offer quite a few different dishes. Try the alligator ribs for an appetizer and any of the fresh fish offerings for the main course. Likewise the wine list is small but the wines are very well selected; we chose a French rose and were not disappointed. The fish collars are a bit messy but combined with the chimichurri sauce in the flour tortillas it is very good! The presentation was very interesting with the fins still intact. The Worms in the Dirt was a dark chocolate desert item that Terri says was very good..its comes with GummyWorms...very strange in my opinion. Every time I'm here I picture the walls a deep gray-blue with the white wood trim. It could look casually elegant and seem a little more fitting for a place that has $42 entrees. Granted, several menu options are far less expensive, but the very best ones are $42 at this point. We learned that Millie's has a scratch kitchen and features locally sourced options, including fresh-caught fish. I had the catch of the day (which was grouper), ordered blackened at the server's recommendation. The entree came with two sides. The portion was adequate, but not huge. The fish was market priced and something like $38 (in line with pricing for other entrees). The service was knowledgeable, attentive and unhurried.
