    Cinnamon Rolls
    Thysis R.

This was our second visit here and it was better than the first. When we arrived they were packed but I didn't mind. My son wanted to come here for his birthday so we obliged. We were given a 40 minute wait time but surprisingly it only took 15 minutes to seat us. We arrived early enough to take advantage of the lunch and early bird special. The food came out hot and fresh! Don't skip the sides bar that offers various salads, grits etc. And whatever you do, don't skip the fresh baked cinnamon rolls. They are worth the visit alone! After dinner take a walk out on the pier. It's a beautiful view.

This is one of those restaurants that, if you're over 50,you've experienced driving to Florida. It has decent food and the wait staff have been there forever. The food is a mix between classic Americana (meatloaf) and seafood since it's on the ocean. With your order you can get free cornbread, cinnamon rolls and some other fixings. The cornbread and cinnamon rolls were excellent. The other stuff could've been better maintained. It looked like a mess Wifey had scallops and they were aight. I had a nice tasty meatloaf that reminded me of Ohio. Reasonably priced.

Finally gave into the hype and tried this place for dinner. It was a Wednesday so half off full bottles of wine (woohoo). I sat at the bar since it was crazy busy and I was alone. Bartender was friendly and gave me the low down. All menu items (entrees and sandwiches )include the "fixings bar" and fresh homemade cinnamon rolls. So I ordered blackened salmon and my one side baked sweet potato. I headed to the fixings bar. They have a few different Cole slaws, chic pea salad, broccoli salad and for hot apples, cheese grits and baked beans. Everything was "okay". Grabbed 2 cinnamon rolls figuring why not eat dessert first! Hot, gooey and yummy. My meal was lackluster. Blackened salmon had great seasoning but with a small portion it is easy to overcook and overcooked it was. My sweet potato was so baked the jacket was flaky and burnt and since it's my favorite part not edible. Even busy the staff was excellent and the timing was great. I give the food (except for cinnamon rolls) a 1 and the rest a 5 which is why I landed on 3.

Aunt Catfish is always a stop with the family during vacation. This time around, we stopped in for lunch. We were a group of nine, including a dog, so we split into two tables outside. They have a nice seating area outside, with shaded areas and umbrellas. There is also a nice play area, and the live music was about to start as we were leaving. Cousin John took care of us this time, and he was awesome. He sold us on the unicorn fish, and the majority of the table got it, and everyone loved it. They have a wonderful happy hour with half-off drinks. I was basic this time and got the margarita, and it was good. We've never been here for lunch, but it's such a good deal--$ 10 for a good-sized piece of fish, a side, and the Fish Camp Fixins bar. Speaking of the Fish Camp Fixins bar, I love the upgrades since I was last here. I remember when it used to be in the location where they now make the cinnamon rolls. The Fish Camp Fixins bar has some cold salads, my favorite being the broccoli salad. They also have cornbread, baked apples, and baked beans. You can get full just from the Fish Camp Fixins bar, so make sure to save room for your food. I love how the bar has a paper towel holder at the front for tongs for germ-conscious folks. Oh, and the cinnamon rolls are dangerous. It's hard to eat one! Can't wait to come back!

Ohhhh I had to run this back yall ! This Sunday all you can Buffett is absolutely delicious. Service is incredible and the server remembered me from the last visit. My best friend said she will drive an hour every other week to eat here again , it's that good. It's super busy on a Sunday but so worth the wait and while waiting you can enjoy outdoor live music , seating and water views . This is a must try

Went here for a family wedding lunch after hearing good reviews. The restaurant was great about seating our large party. The service was great, but the food was lacking a bit in my opinion depending on what you get. I got the crab cake sandwich and I wasn't a fan. I've had a lot of crab cakes and this one just didn't taste great in my opinion. My girlfriend got the fried shrimp and fries lunch basket and said it was delicious. Two others at our table got a fried chicken sandwich, since they aren't big seafood fans. They both liked them, but said they were anything special. My mom got the catfish and it was really good! I was sad I didn't get it instead of the crab cakes. Might've changed my perspective a little bit. The cinnamon rolls were also a let down. They were cold and the icing was cold. If that's your thing - then you'll probably like them. I prefer my cinnamon rolls hot and fresh out the oven. Overall, even through the restaurant atmosphere and service was good I don't think that'd be enough to bring me back in the future.

Really solid, southern seafood experience at Aunt Catfish's on a recent visit to Port Orange. Casual and clean on the inside, Aunt Catfish's features really good seafood choices along with unlimited "fixins" and cinnamon rolls. The Fixins- really good grits, tasty cornbread, and tasty apple side. The cinnamon rolls were fresh, soft, nicely done. My catfish was cooked really well. I chose both fried and blackened. The fried was light, clean, crunchy and the blackened was as cooked well with just the right amount of bite. Their Dill sauce is a nice alternative to tartar sauce. The only disappointment for me was the green beans. The onions were a nice touch but they were overcooked a bit. Our server was great, attentive and informative. The place was packed at 2PM in the afternoon, and for good reason. If you're at the beach in Port Orange and looking for a place where the locals go, hit up Aunt Catfish's, you'll be glad you did.

I really enjoyed the food here. I'm a southern girl and I love a good southern breakfast spread ! Whole Catfish (with bones) and cheese grits were on point !!!! Everything I ate was fantastic. The service/staff were friendly. I don't like buffets because some people just aren't mindful of buffet etiquette. There are unwritten rules but my gawd ! Manage your children and stop acting like you are at home when you're at a buffet please !!! This is a family style place. I'd say big families/parties are welcome. Be patient as there could be lines for made-to-order items. If you don't like being around people you might want to go during the week. You could be rubbing elbows with strangers at some point lol so just be mindful of that.

Our first meal on vacation was good. We saw this was a popular place over our stay since the parking lot was full daily. Wish our server had done a bit more to tell us about specials and what was included at the self serve bar and bakery. I enjoyed my blackened salmon and the hush puppy. The green beans, my chosen side, were just okay.I liked the coleslaw that was part of the options on the self-serve bar, but everything else was just okay. I thought the cornbread was dry and the cinnamon roll okay as well. The dining area is crowded and dated, could use a refresh.

    Lightly breaded Unicorn Fish

A busy, bustling restaurant for a Tuesday evening! Clean and spacious, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Our orders came out really quickly considering how busy they were. Our party of 4 all decided on the Unicorn Fish prepared in a variety of ways - grilled, lightly breaded, and beer battered. The fish is light and flaky sort of like halibut. Absolutely delicious! I also order the restaurant's own signature soup of fish chowder which had a wonderful slightly spicy tomato base. One side of choice accompanies the meal and there is also a buffet side dish section that's included with your order. The selections were creamy grits, baked beans, mashed potatoes, fried apples, cornbread, coleslaw, and the most delicious pickled beets I've ever had. The shining jewel of the buffet section is the homemade cinnamon rolls that are truly addictive! Bring your family or treat your date. Show up with friends and enjoy the small bar area at the entrance before (or after) your meal. Can't go wrong with this iconic institution that's been in this area for a very long time!

    Are there gluten free options?

My family is keto, and we were able to find plenty of options. The salad bar has so many items to choose from. However, if you are avoiding gluten due to an allergy, you would need to be careful of cross contamination from patrons.

This is pretty subjective, but I'm all in for the Shrimp & Grits, Crab Cakes, and Crab Leg Clusters. You don't have to stay away from anything at Aunt Catfish. I've been eating there for more than 30 years, so I'm hard to argue with. Well, you… Read more

My husband and I started with the buffalo shrimp, which is a go-to order for us at seafood spots. The buffalo flavor was good, but the sauce was very oily, and several shrimp still had bits of shell attached beyond the tails, so I ended up picking shell out of my mouth while eating. For my entrée, I ordered the snow crab and shrimp platter and asked for it to be cooked without butter but keep the old bay. The plate arrived with no discernible seasoning at all, and the seafood, potatoes, and corn tasted like they'd been boiled in plain water. When I asked about it, the server explained that they don't steam crab or shrimp in Old Bay, despite agreeing to that when I ordered, and that the platters rely on butter for flavor, which was disappointing for a $40-$50 dish. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because my mother did enjoy her lobster platter. That said, her lobster was absolutely swimming in butter and Old Bay--not lightly drizzled as the menu implies--and it felt like butter was the main source of flavor rather than an enhancement. The server even mentioned how much butter the restaurant goes through in a day, which reinforced that this is their primary approach to seasoning. I enjoy seasoning and lots of flavor, and I prefer seafood that's cooked so the spices and the delicious taste of the shellfish stand out, not preparations that rely on heavy butter, so this restaurant ultimately wasn't a good fit for my preferences.

Sadly Matt left, but found him at an incredible place in Ponce Inlet called Down the Hatch. The new Boon Docks looks great, but unfortunately looks are deceiving. It started one afternoon, my dog and I went for lunch. The blonde bartender who has been there a few years, was going to wait on me. since I sat up at the bar, which was 80% empty, my dog quietly laid on the ground. The blonde bartender came over in a very rude matter, stating they do not allow dogs in this outdoor seating. I claim that my dog was a Service Dog, not an emotional support dog. The blonde bartender, stated that she doesn't see anything on my dog showing she is a Service Dog. I stated that I'm a local and the service dog harness was at home. She said that I needed to have it. I responded saying, "Are you telling me that if I want to eat here I will have to go to the house and get the harness?". She said, "Yup". I got in the golf cart and drove home to get the harness. I returned with my dog wearing the harness. The blonde bartender stated, " You didn't need to come back to prove your point". I said "Yes I did". The blonde bartender then said, " I sense hostility from you and decline to wait on me.". I asked for mgmt. A young lady came out and I expressed what had just happen. She said that all I had to do was tell the blonde that she was a service dog. I explained that I did, but the blonde wanted proof that she was. I left to get her harness. When I return the blonde was confrontational by stating that I didn't have to go home to prove a point and when I stated "Yes I did", She turned it around stating that she is sensing hostility from me and was not going to serve me. Long story short, manger allowed me to order and eat. Couple months later my wife, our dog and I went for lunch. The blonde was there, but luckily she wasn't waiting on us or she saw me and told the other bartender to wait on us. Wife and I had a good lunch, I expressed the serviced I received was great unlike your fellow bartender, the blonde. Few months went by and this evening my brother, his wife, his mother in-law and I was stopping for a drink. I noticed the blonde there (on the side of new added tiki bar), but by the time we got up to the bar she vacated the area because she knows she was wrong and is just rude. A guy came up to us and asked to speak to me on the side. He stated that I've been there before causing confrontation and I explained it was because what she did. He then said I trashed talk the bartender to the other bartender. I took 100% accountability and said "Yes I did". He said that I continue to speak to the blonde bartender and I stated I have never spoken to that bartender since that first visit. She knows she was wrong and to much of a coward to take accountability and will make up things. He said I needed to leave. I responded "Are you kidding me". He said "No". I said "You're being a jerk". He responded with a professional "Get the F**k out you F**king A$$hole". By this time my brother came over and said Let's go. DO NOT GO HERE AND IF YOU DO STAY AWY FROM THE CHUNKY BLONDE BARTENDER I hope for new mgmt or they s place goes out of business.

This time around it was time to get out to the Atlantic and drive down the A1A for a ways to take in the ocean air and the endless horizon... and find something good to eat as well. Finding a place that actually has an ocean view is not easy, sadly. You would think there would be more places in the Daytona/Ormond/Flagler Beach area, but there really aren't. Condos being on the beach has killed that scene for a good part, which is very sad. However, there are a couple of places still available... and one of them is Crabby Joe's. Situated out on the end of a pier, Crabby Joe's is a breezy eatery where you can grab some deep fried goodness and a beer if you like. I went for the fish and chips this time around, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of fish that came with the dish. The fish was excellent, and the chips hit the spot as well. Our service was solid as well, as our drinks were kept filled and we were checked on reasonably well. I was by myself so I went to go sit at a long high top counter that was connected to the bar. The lady that took my order very loudly announced that next time I should order from the bar if I was going to sit at the bar - even if it was what seemed to just be a long extension of the bar that was not directly at the bar. I understand this can be typical policy for most restaurants but it was never said to me when I was ordering and I had not been here before so I wasn't sure since all signage says to order at the front before finding seating. She was a bit rude in how loudly she announced it, using my name as she announced it. The "fish" sandwich was very small for the price (market price - which was over $20) and didn't come with anything on it. There was much much more bun than fish. The fish was bland, even with the blackening seasoning and very mushy - not flaky like mahi should be. The fries were extremely bland and I had to heavily salt and pepper them. They were cheap crinkle cut fries that you get from the frozen section of a grocery store and were still gross after seasoning them myself. The pups were ok. I also ordered a beer (Landshark) which was priced at more than $6 for a draft which I thought was very steep, seeing as most places in the area and beyond price that beer around $3-4 at most. The food was extremely expensive for the quality. The added fries and pups were $4.99 extra. The total was $28 (before tip) for a mushy, bland, very small piece of fish on a fish sandwich. The only positive of this experience was the view - which was beautiful. I will not be returning.
