We visited this restaurant at the recommendation of someone local. It is a staple of the area, for sure. The restaurant overlooks the river and has a separate bar area with a full bar. The Pink Flamingo was delicious. The biggest surprise for us was the cinnamon roll kitchen where bakers are making fresh cinnamon rolls in front of you and you can eat as many as you like! The beauty of this restaurant is that the "fish camp" fixins' are on an all-you-can-eat buffet. But your entree is made to order, fresh for you! Best of both worlds! We had 8 in our party and were delighted to know that it takes 12 for the gratuity to be automatic. That was not an issue, though. Our first server "cousin Richard" was excellent, but then he got pulled away and "cousin Bailey" took care of us. Both were delightfully friendly and very attentive. In our group we had chicken tenders, which I sampled and were some of the best I've ever had. We had shark and alligator appetizers. They were both awesome. We had sautéed shrimp and sautéed scallops. Both were swimming in a delicious buttery garlic sauce and cooked to perfection. One had meatloaf and said it was great! One had salmon. And a couple of people had the crab cakes which they also said were delicious. The sides were also good, and the "fish camp" sides were awesome. I want to especially comment on the cheese grits. As a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl raised in the south) and a devout grits snob, I give my wholehearted double thumbs-up on the grits. I thought my grandson was going to make himself sick eating so much! Overall the food was good but overall bad experience, unfortunately. Our waiter was struggling bad... He messed up the order of a table next to us twice and the guy didn't eat while his entire family ate their meals. Not sure if he was new or just having a very bad day. My wife got sick halfway through our appetizer meal and I promptly told him I needed 2 boxes and the check as soon as he brought our main dish... I waited at least 30 minutes until he came back with the check and boxes, then he left again to correct the check for another 10-15. I wished he would have been a bit faster and more attentive since we were trying to leave in somewhat of a rush... I think maybe this place is just understaffed or we got a bad waiter. Have heard of this place for years and finally made plans to come here for Sunday Brunch. Restaurant itself is relatively tight inside but decor and ambience is perfect for on the water. The smell of those fresh cinnamon rolls hits you as soon as you walk in. Recommend calling ahead for the priority seating, as we were sat as a table of 6 relatively quickly on a busy late morning. Parking lot next door was fairly full, but didn't have any issues. Sunday brunch is an all you can eat buffet featuring a mix of fried seafood, southern style sides, breakfast favorites, and their usual fixings bar. Everything was hot and fresh with plenty of eyes and attention from the staff on keeping things clean and stocked. The fried catfish was an absolute favorite and the fresh omelette and pancake stations had excellent options. Dessert is a little lackluster, but only because the cinnamon rolls steal the show. Our server was quick to refill drinks and take away the finished plates along with recommending some of his favorites. Outside the restaurant was some live music on the patio along with a playset for kids leading to a long dock out to the pier on the river. Great photo spot and we even saw some manatees. This was our second visit here and it was better than the first. When we arrived they were packed but I didn't mind. My son wanted to come here for his birthday so we obliged. We were given a 40 minute wait time but surprisingly it only took 15 minutes to seat us. We arrived early enough to take advantage of the lunch and early bird special. The food came out hot and fresh! Don't skip the sides bar that offers various salads, grits etc. And whatever you do, don't skip the fresh baked cinnamon rolls. They are worth the visit alone! The food is a mix between classic Americana (meatloaf) and seafood since it's on the ocean. With your order you can get free cornbread, cinnamon rolls and some other fixings. Finally gave into the hype and tried this place for dinner. It was a Wednesday so half off full bottles of wine (woohoo). I sat at the bar since it was crazy busy and I was alone. Bartender was friendly and gave me the low down. All menu items (entrees and sandwiches )include the "fixings bar" and fresh homemade cinnamon rolls. So I ordered blackened salmon and my one side baked sweet potato. I headed to the fixings bar. They have a few different Cole slaws, chic pea salad, broccoli salad and for hot apples, cheese grits and baked beans. Everything was "okay". Grabbed 2 cinnamon rolls figuring why not eat dessert first! Hot, gooey and yummy. My meal was lackluster. Blackened salmon had great seasoning but with a small portion it is easy to overcook and overcooked it was. My sweet potato was so baked the jacket was flaky and burnt and since it's my favorite part not edible. Even busy the staff was excellent and the timing was great. Aunt Catfish is always a stop with the family during vacation. This time around, we stopped in for lunch. We were a group of nine, including a dog, so we split into two tables outside. They have a nice seating area outside, with shaded areas and umbrellas. There is also a nice play area, and the live music was about to start as we were leaving. Cousin John took care of us this time, and he was awesome. He sold us on the unicorn fish, and the majority of the table got it, and everyone loved it. They have a wonderful happy hour with half-off drinks. I was basic this time and got the margarita, and it was good. We've never been here for lunch, but it's such a good deal--$ 10 for a good-sized piece of fish, a side, and the Fish Camp Fixins bar. Speaking of the Fish Camp Fixins bar, I love the upgrades since I was last here. I remember when it used to be in the location where they now make the cinnamon rolls. The Fish Camp Fixins bar has some cold salads, my favorite being the broccoli salad. They also have cornbread, baked apples, and baked beans. Came here for lunch. The lunch specials from 12-4 are amazing. You can get happy hour with half off appetizers. Got the gator which was good, not chewy like I am used to. They also have an awesome lunch specials menu for 10.00. You get the food with one side, hush puppy and the unlimited fixins bar. The homemade cinnamon buns are amazing. My mom passed away a few weeks ago. I went out with my dad to Aunt Catfish's since I haven't been since I was a kid and I am in town from New York during this difficult time. We came a little before happy hour, I put in for an appetizer ten minutes prior to the happy hour deal at 1:50 PM, expecting the happy hour deal (especially since we were given a happy hour menu). I also didn't realize it wasn't quite 2:00 PM yet. Instead of our waitress telling us to wait a few minutes for the happy hour (2-4) deal, she put it in immediately. We ordered our food and got our final check at 2:48 PM and we were charged full price for the appetizer. I inquired about the happy hour deal for the one appetizer. I was told the happy hour item was put in just before 2:00 PM and the computer decided it was full price. I asked to speak to someone about this and the manager offered no solutions, no apologies, and told us it was going to be full price. We spent almost $100.00 here, not including tip (we did tip, despite everything). We weren't asking for anything for free, just for ONE item to be honored on the happy hour deal. If this wasn't possible then a coupon, a free dessert, or anything should have been offered. It was not. My dad lives less than 5 minutes on the other side of the bridge and we will never come here again nor recommend it to anyone. Food was good but not the best. There are much better seafood places elsewhere with nicer service. If you do go here, make sure to double check your receipt since they are not trustworthy. The service was great, but the food was lacking a bit in my opinion depending on what you get. I got the crab cake sandwich and I wasn't a fan. I've had a lot of crab cakes and this one just didn't taste great in my opinion. My girlfriend got the fried shrimp and fries lunch basket and said it was delicious. Two others at our table got a fried chicken sandwich, since they aren't big seafood fans. They both liked them, but said they were anything special. My mom got the catfish and it was really good! I was sad I didn't get it instead of the crab cakes. Might've changed my perspective a little bit. The cinnamon rolls were also a let down. They were cold and the icing was cold. If that's your thing - then you'll probably like them. I prefer my cinnamon rolls hot and fresh out the oven. Casual and clean on the inside, Aunt Catfish's features really good seafood choices along with unlimited "fixins" and cinnamon rolls. The Fixins- really good grits, tasty cornbread, and tasty apple side. The cinnamon rolls were fresh, soft, nicely done. My catfish was cooked really well. I chose both fried and blackened. The fried was light, clean, crunchy and the blackened was as cooked well with just the right amount of bite. Their Dill sauce is a nice alternative to tartar sauce. The only disappointment for me was the green beans. The onions were a nice touch but they were overcooked a bit. Our server was great, attentive and informative. The place was packed at 2PM in the afternoon, and for good reason. Our party of 4 all decided on the Unicorn Fish prepared in a variety of ways - grilled, lightly breaded, and beer battered. The fish is light and flaky sort of like halibut. Absolutely delicious! I also order the restaurant's own signature soup of fish chowder which had a wonderful slightly spicy tomato base. Me and my fiancé seen a post about Aunt Catfish on social media. We decided to make the 1 hour drive to Port Orange from Mount Dora to see try the food. We loved how the restaurant was right on the river. The choice for outdoor seating and a boat dock with boats. Kelly was our server. She was great and helpful with the menu options. Brunch to me means Breakfast and Lunch. I started off with Pancakes, Omelette, Bacon and Sausage. It's was so good. I order Strawberry Lemonade to drink. I had to have 2 of them before I left. Then I went to get fried Catfish nuggets and a slice of fried Catfish. I was in heaven with my hot sauce and mustard on it. Last I tried the Cinnamon Roll. It is definitely addictive. Going here is an experience. My party arrived an hour before closing time (which is 9 p.m.) on a Friday night. Wish they stayed open a bit later. There was a wait, but that gave us time to explore the surroundings outside. It was a nice night to walk along the dock and check out the plentiful catfish. The interior is pleasant and our service was spot-on, as our server was attentive and friendly. We started with the Smoked Fish Dip, which was very tasty with nice, visible chunks of fish in it. I was very excited about the "All U Can Eat Fish Camp Fixins" (cheese grits and baked beans were my favorites), but partaking didn't leave much room for my actual meal. I had the Catfish Sampler, among which I liked the grilled pepper filet and fingerlings (nugget-resembling) the best. I ordered an Old Fashioned which was very tasty. So good I had a second after dinner. For dinner, I ordered the two piece fried catfish. I had been wanting some good catfish for a while. I still am. The catfish must have been caught in the nasty Halifax River. It tasted muddy. The sides were good though. I ordered the clam chowder for an up charge and the all you can eat sides were tasty. Unfortunately the thing I came in for, Aunt's namesake catfish, was terrible. Then to make matters worse, when the check arrived, there was an "order processing fee of $1.59. Now mind you, $1.59 isn't going to cause me to file for bankruptcy, but I've never heard of this. Cuz explained it was a fee for my debit card. So they just assume everyone will pay with a card and he didn't offer the opportunity to remove it if I paid cash. I despise misleading BS that some businesses do.
