i have dined at Rose Villa twice. First time was my birthday lunch and i tried the fried chicken with goat cheese grits. the grits were amazing and chicken was also very good. The chicken second time was again a luncheon date and I had the chicken pot pie which was extaordinary. besides the food being above average in quality and taste, the setting in an old victorian home was also special. which reminds me that I choose it for our dinner group and they raved about the setting and all enjoyed their meal. Once in a while you go to a restaurant where the food, the service and the decor all line up to take your breath away and you know you'll always remember it. The Rose Villa Southern Table and Bar was not just the best place I visited on a recent stay in the Port Orange/Daytona area, it's one of the best places I've eaten period and all I did was lunch. We stopped in without reservations but they found space for us outside on the front porch. It was right after Christmas and I have rarely seen a restaurant do it better. Cotton in the trees and bushes to simulate snow, classic Holiday decor everywhere you looked. Every detail was amazing! Inside was like stepping into 19th century home that was elegant and regal. The only thing better than the atmosphere was the food. Our Pork Belly Bruschetta was elegantly presented and just melted in your mouth. Salty, sweet, robust, just incredible and a great recommendation from our waiter. My wife and I split the Shrimp Po Boy along with a Chicken sandwich and there were both just next level compared to anytime we've had these before. If you're in the area, if you're within an hour, if you want to do a day trip, build it around the Rose Villa Southern Table and Bar. To start, Patrick the server was the best server I've ever had. Funny, nice, kind, attentive, happy, and much more. I went with my mom and a family friend. We all got different items. I had the white bean sauté. Very yummy and filling. While my mom had the lobster mac and cheese. She wished the lobster was not just on top but in the sauce too. I love the victorian decor of this place. It was built in the 1800s and you definitely feel a part of that era as you roam around the r hallways and rooms. I enjoyed their southern breakfast greatly ! I ordered the Brabant potato hash n eggs with biscuit and morhay sauce, peppers, onions and tomato relish. I enjoyed a nice hot cup of coffee and which it came in a kettle to serve myself. they are known for their chicken and waffle plate so I will definitely come back for another brunch. Took us too long to try this place. My new favorite restaurant in the Daytona/Ormond Beach area. Arrive just before 3 to learn their restaurant closes from 3-4pm, so my wife and I saddled up to the bar for some cocktails before an early dinner. Molly is my new favorite bartender holding down the fort in a deliciously cute bar area. The rest of the dining areas (and upstairs speakeasy) is a delight on the eyes as well. Though this isn't just my new favorite restaurant around because of Molly and the decor, but rather the food (of which we ordered far more items than we should) was delectable. I decided to take my colleagues here for an appreciation dinner of sorts. The service was stellar! Knowledgeable, friendly, gracious staff made my dining experience very memorable. I ordered a crab cake and it was tasty, although I might have preferred mine cooked more. I also ordered shrimp and grits. Again, it was tasty, but I wished the grits weren't drowning in the gravy. The venue is beautiful as a well kept/restored Victorian home. Our large party was welcomed warmly and our waiter Wellington was quite charming. The cocktails were fun and delicious. The Deviled Eggs were as good as I had heard with the pepper relish an added flavor. The fried chicken portion was huge and those in our party that ordered that entrée were pleased. The Bouillabaisse was served warm and would have been much better if hot. It was ok and I would not order again if I returned. Unfortunately, while I do enjoy a slower pace between entrees, our wait between appetizer and main was excessively long. My husband and I decided to finally try Rosa Villa for Christmas Eve. I made reservations several weeks ago, we arrived early but our table was ready for us which was on the front porch (I reserved outdoor dining). The restaurant was beautifully decorated and we were greeted by our server. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet as we checked out the menu. We heard how good their southern fried chicken was so of course we had to try. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles and my husband ordered the southern fried chicken which came with collard greens, mashed potatoes and gravy and he also ordered a side of Mac and cheese. Our food was delicious, the chicken crispy, juicy and the best flavor! My husband raved so much about the collard greens, he said best he's had. We definitely will be back! We had been to Ormond Beach several times but never dreamed of the charm hiding behind this historical building. Since it's Christmas time, the building is done up like a gingerbread house. The house is decorated nicely all over including the outside porch front and back. We could not ask for a more beautiful day to enjoy sitting on the front porch with the sun warming us while we got to enjoy the various selections from their brunch menu. We had two amazing meals on our recent vacation to the Daytona area and Rosa Villa was one of them. We visited on a weekday after the holidays for lunch and were surprised to only have tables available outside without a reservation. They were expecting a large party inside but we still had fantastic service. We sat on the beautifully decorated front porch and the weather was perfect. I started with a holiday special cocktail, it was very strong with most of the cinnamon flavor settled at the bottom. It was a good old fashioned but the holiday flavors with a bit overwhelmed. After that, every bite we had was fantastic. We ordered the belly and biscuits appetizer, do not miss this one! Cooked perfectly and combined with wonderful flavors of the tree fruit chutney along with the fluffy biscuits. Our main choices, the shrimp po'boy and the Charleston chicken were also delicious. I really loved my choice of their sweet slaw side as well. This Ormond Beach restaurant is not too far from Jacksonville and worth a drive! read more

I've had excellent experiences before with dinner, but lunch was disappointing. It was oddly quiet with no music. It was 50 minutes before any food came out, the fries were cold, and instead of honey butter with the waffles, we were accidentally given mayonnaise. Service was polite but tentative, I overhead that they were not understaffed, it was just "always like this." This restaurant is so cute, a historic building with a speakeasy bar and it was beautifully decorated for dinner. I'd give it another shot for dinner but not lunch. read more

Again for an event going to rosevilla. This time for my birthday. Reservations made and a request to the absinthe room. This place is so nice. Started off with thier biscuits and shaved Brussel sprouts with a Ceasars dressing. Very good. Candyce even tried it and she liked it. Main course was jambalaya for and candyce had the filet mignon. So tender she was just needed her butter knife. Both cources were great. Dessert was lava cake because of my birthday. A very nice night all tge way around. read more

We started with the soup flight, which was such a fun and flavorful way to begin. For our mains, we had the Rose Villa burger and the bourbon BBQ pork chop--both were absolutely delicious. You can tell the ingredients are high quality and everything was cooked just right. To top it off, there was live music--a man singing with the most beautiful voice, which added such a warm, personal touch to the whole experience. Last night we went there again for dinner to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. The food is delicious. The ambiance is magical at Christmas time. They deck it out like a gingerbread house. Good: Food and service was good. Bad: Made reservations two week out yet they sat out group of 12 on porch in winter with temperature at 57 after constantly requesting to be seated inside. Heather the events host was inflexible. There was plenty of seating available inside. One heater outside ran out of propane. Heaters were also waist high, at best it warmed your back. Half the group was wearing their sweaters and jackets. Food portions were small unless you got fried chicken. Cocktails were good but wasn't boozy. Apps didn't come out until they took second round of drink orders. Valet misplaced car keys. I wouldn't recommend this place for events or large party. read more

My wife and I first went to Rose Villa Restaurant in October to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a nice evening overall, but the bill was honestly shocking considering the food was pretty lackluster. Our server at the time did her best to make a difficult situation better, but I still felt bad because my wife didn't have the special evening she deserved. We decided to give it another try last night, and interestingly enough we ordered the exact same meals and even had the same server, Milly. Milly is a very sweet and kind person, but unfortunately the service again fell short. She didn't write down our orders, and several things we requested were missed. My wife cannot have pepper jelly, and we specifically asked for it not to be included. Milly kindly said it wouldn't be a problem, but it still came out with the dish. By the time she returned with a new fried green tomato and goat cheese, our meals were already cold. We also ordered an appetizer that never came out. During dinner I had to ask for a steak knife, and she only checked on us once the entire time to see if we needed anything. We really try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was our second visit with a less-than-stellar experience. What frustrated me most is that I don't often get the chance to take my wife out for a nice dinner, and this is the second time the experience just didn't live up to expectations. I also asked our server for a cocktail recommendation. She asked if I liked bourbon and I said not really. She still suggested a peach tea cocktail with bourbon and bacon. Unfortunately it was terrible. I took one sip and felt sick the rest of the night. In the end, the bill for a burger, a steak, one cocktail, and two iced teas came to $96. Maybe it's just me, but the food and experience simply didn't justify that price. We still left a $20 tip because Milly acknowledged her mistakes and she truly is a very kind person. She even offered to give us a dessert to go on her, which we declined. Unfortunately, after two disappointing visits, we won't be returning. read more

They started us off with a complimentary appetizer: two fresh biscuits and two halves of deviled eggs. It was the best biscuit I've ever eaten -- golden and slightly crisp on the outside, with a soft, fluffy, airy interior that melted in my mouth. I chose the Mediterranean branzino, which was cooked to perfection and paired with a delicious sauce that, though cream-based, was light and citrusy. The sautéed potatoes underneath were perfectly placed -- I usually have to move the fish on top of the side dish, but they did the work for me this time! On our way out, we strolled through the outdoor patio and were surprised by live guitar music and a charming gazebo (where you can dine if you'd like). I'm considering stopping by on a future trip to the north to try their brunch menu. read more

Made dinner reservations for the day after Christmas. Was seated in the Presidential suite (aka Teddy Roosevelt room). Where we sat, the air was blowing heavily and we requested to relocate to one of the other tables located in the same room. Millie (Emilia) our server was more than welcoming, understanding, and accommodated for us to move to another table. This is my second time eating here and Millie was truly amazing from beginning to end. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu options and provided us with some great recommendations. Ordered a bottle of Hess and was sadly informed they were out of it. She recommended Bonaza and it was quite good! Also we were pleasantly surprised by the summer supper menu. Not sure when or how long this menu option is offered for but it's a great value. Food took a little long to arrive but when it did we all enjoyed our dishes and either cleared our plate or took home left overs. Needless to say Rose Villa is a great comfort food spot.
