I purchased a home in July of this year and upon the home inspection it was found that there were several areas of dry rot that were supposed to be repaired previously that was just painted over. Chris was paid to make these repairs and agreed to come do them in August. He came out to look and I showed him all the areas that were missed. He said he would come back in a couple weeks, but never did. After several times texting him and him putting this off he has yet to come out to make the repairs he was supposed to do and was paid to do. Very frustrating and unethical. read more

I'm surprised they're still in business. We hired Chris a few years back to replace wood on our house and paint. We had to fight with him to get the job worked on. The job wasn't finished and what was done was done incorrectly causing wood rot within a couple of years. We had a 10 year warranty with 40 Grit. When we called 6 months after he stopped working on the house we were told "I moved, what do you want me to do about it?" His workers were coming to our house to get paid for a couple of months. We told them to talk to Chris as he was paid. I checked their Contractor's License and it was suspended. It continues to be suspended to this day. They don't have Workers Comp insurance or a Contractor's Bond that's not expired. Lesson learned to always check prior to any work being done. read more

I had Chris come out to give me an estimate to paint the interior of my home, the job was scheduled to start 6 weeks later. A couple of weeks after he gave the estimate and 4 weeks before the start date he called me and left me a message asking for half of the money upfront immediately. I called him back and asked if he was joking and that I wasn't giving him any money until the job was completed, at this point he says "OK well just give me a quarter of the money then" I told him to take a hike. read more

Chris's crew did a great job on the exterior of my home which needed partial siding replacement and painting. Chris is personable and knows his stuff. The workers schedule seemed to fluctuate but they came everyday even during literally the hottest days of the year and worked their full shift. So far so good, a few months later and I still smile when I turn onto my block and see my lovely home. After completion when I had a small issue Chris sent someone to take care of it quickly. I had 40 grit come out to paint a few rooms at my home a couple of months ago. In the beginning I was given a deadline as to how long it would take them to complete the job and that it would look good and I'd be happy with the results. As time went on the were unable to finish on time so the completion date had to be extended. I told them they had to be done by Friday at 1 because I had an appt. 1pm comes on Friday and they still are not done. Mind you they started almost 2 hours later than the original start time. Which is probably part of the reason they can't finish. They then leave a HUGE mess in the house with dust everywhere! All over the furniture, couches etc. I had to clean all this stuff up myself because when I brought it up to the owner he says he can't get anyone to come back out until next week! About a week later the paint on the staircase starts to peel. He sends the same guys over to fix the issue. It gets taken care of but as time goes on I start to notice other issues with the job they did. See pictures below. These " Pros" actually painted over the tape they put on my fireplace! And the paint on the stairs is peeling again. I was hesitant to post this at first but figured maybe I can prevent someone from dealing with the same drama I did. All in all I'm completely disappointed and would never use these guys again... Beware! read more

This review is long overdue. Chris came out to give me an estimate on painting the living room, dining room and casing both the entryway and the windows of the living room and dining room. His estimate was better than the other two I received from other companies so I accepted his offer and he started soon after. He did an awesome job. I plan to call him later this year to insert the crown molding in both the living room and dining room and to paint the entryway and upstairs Landing. The before color was an elephant gray, the after color was autumn sage from Behr. I love how the casing and paint turned out. Quite an upgrade. read more

You know I did not realize I could leave a review on this guy until now. This goober was supposed to paint my two story home and I would definitely not call on his services ever again. After the agreed upon amount was spent he has the nerve to ask me for more money to finish the job. He said he did not realize how big the home was? Get ready for this after giving this guy more money than we agreed upon my wife calls me and says that he has fallen thru my aluminum patio cover on the back patio. He is lucky he did not break his neck but guess who had to pay $1,500.00 for repairs to my patio cover when I specifically told him not to get on it? Yours truly. This guy is a joke and as unprofessional as they come. Stay away and do your self a favor and call someone else. read more

40 Grit did an excellent and professional job replacing siding and painting the exterior of my house. Definitely 5 stars for the quality of the work, the advice on color selections, the communication on additional work and extra cost on the siding project (no hidden surprises) and the reasonable price. The only reason for 4 stars (really 4.5!) is due to some issues with scheduling to finish a punch list of final tasks, but in the end Chris apologized for the mixups and all the fixes were completed. Chris' team even returned to re-sand and repaint my front door after the first paint job started to bubble up. I am completely satisfied with the finished product and highly recommend 40 Grit to others. read more

Chris just finished a HUGE job for us and we love it. He and his guys painted two large open rooms for us, 4 bedrooms, all our hallways, ceilings, baseboards, and doors. He also installed new crown molding throughout. Then to top it all off he epoxied (is that a word?) our 3 car garage. The paint turned out exactly how I pictured it and the crown molding is beautiful. I think he had to custom make each piece because our walls are a little uneven. He took his time and it was well worth it! We are so happy with how everything looks and turned out. He even took care and time to clean up the floors well after he was finished. He and his crew were great to be around and are totally friendly and easy to be around. I feel like his price was fair. It wasn't he least expensive bid that we got but it wasn't the most expensive either. His offer was right in the middle but his work is well above average. read more

It was great working with Chris on the exterior paint job for our house. We picked a difficult to find color, and Chris took it stride to go find it! We had some issues with damage on the trim, and he fixed it beautifully so you can't even tell it was once damaged. We had some very old peeling paint and some bare wood that needed scraping and sanding and Chris and his crew really put some elbow grease into making that area look fine.
