All I can say is... INCREDIBLE!! Food was cooked exactly as ordered and every single bite was delicious! I got the NY steak plate with the garlic butter and siracha aioli sauce and combined it was the perfect combo! Very friendly staff and quick from ordering to pickup. The prices are steep and equivalent to restaurant sit down teppanyaki so for the comfort I prefer sit down but for convenience this place is just that! I asked for the price of filet and shrimp with plain rice and that dish would be over $32. BUT the ribs (kalbi style) were good and priced at $13. They did not have a sign posted with prices. We ordered 10 plates and payed almost $ 400, five of the plates had lobster in them, the lobster was horribly salty old and looked like throw up. I've driven by these trucks an infinite amount of times over the years and occasionally thought of trying it out. Never did until last night when I was hungry driving by and the scent caught my nose! I was a little hesitant due to the reviews but wasn't phased much by them. I ordered a steak and shrimp combo with fried rice and a teriyaki chicken combo and paid $42. It felt weird paying over $40 for a truck meal but I acknowledge that it's not your average Asian food and requires some work. I ordered and my food was ready in about 20 minutes. I asked for 1 of each sauce they have and was on my way home. From the first bite to the very last, it was utterly amazing and I enjoyed all of it. My steak was a little over cooked (I wanted medium) but no harm done. Parking is shared with the plaza behind it so it wasn't bad either. The plates they served was pictured and displayed on their truck the prices were on the photo but some wore off. They served drinks canned soda, red bull and water bottles for $1. We ordered a side of fried rice and a filet mignon (medium well) plate the total was about $25. We wait about 35 to 40 minutes for the food. Didn't really mind the wait because we understand it does take time but when we go our food we were kind of disappointed. There was nothing special and definitely had better else where. The fried rice was pretty plain probably won't even call it fried rice (no mixed veggies and very minimal eggs if any). The filet mignon was very chewy the veggies were okay. They had many sauces, garlic butter seems to be the most popular (sold out didn't get to try). There were so many regulars and they were smart to call ahead to just pick up their order. I get inflation and all that, but the shrimp plate was so darn disappointing for what its price point was. The fact that they don't have their pricing posted anywhere online or even on the truck itself seems kind of sketch too. WHEN I went up to pay for the shrimp plate I was told it was $21.99+tax - I thought to myself, okay it's seafood, inflation, etc but the picture looks good - maybe it'll be decent portions - my logic failed me. Oh let's not forget I tipped 15% so my total came out to $25 something. I couldn't believe the small shrimp portion given with the order and the massive amount of fried rice and whatever vegetables they put on the plate. Giving more of the rice and veggies didn't really make the food any better either. The fried rice was just a bit too salty and peppery. The veggies were ok. However, the overall flavor of all the food just wasn't astounding or unique to set it apart from other food trucks or restaurants. Very low-mid tier flavor. Prices are a little on the high end but IMO is worth it. My married Best friends Eduardo and Abraham liked it very much and they felt welcome. One to come back to! We got to the truck early on and so glad we did knowing this truck gets pretty packed. We ordered two plates of the steak and chicken with fried rice and veggies! We opted for Filet mignon but they have the option of other cuts such as rib-eye and short ribs. Their menus showed that you have the option of all sorts of protein, lobster, shrimp, chicken, steak. The person who took our order was very kind and outgoing and made sure we received every sauce to enjoy the full experience. The portions of the plates are enough for 2 people if I'm honest. But since we like to have left overs, we made sure to get two plates. I would say that the pricing is a little high for food from a truck, about 36 per plate. From looking at old menus, I think their prices went up just like everything else in LA, so not surprised! When this opened years ago, literally everyone I know all came here regardless of the drive - some from Calabasas, some from South Central, some from Koreatown, you get the idea.. Nowadays the only people you see here are the hypebeasts who haven't gotten the message, wearing hyped outfits just to flex while eating, paying $65/8th for some "exotic" rolling 1 gram woods instead of buying a pack.. you know the type. Everyone's reasoning was "it's Benihana on wheels and it's cheaper" for the hella taxed plates. In the beginning, the quality was consistent, the amount of food was good, meats weren't cheap cuts, rice wasn't used as a filler for 80% of the plate. While most of the homies got the plates with everything (steak, chicken, lobster tail) for like $45, I only ever got the steak and chicken plate which was around $25. Although it is technically "Benihana on wheels", it's still just a FOOD TRUCK, no seats, with very low overhead - so spending $25-45 at a TRUCK just always seemed like overkill. *THEY EVEN TOOK DOWN PRICES FROM THEIR MENU.... WONDER WHY... After getting plates here a few times a week for almost a year, everyone I know stopped coming here including me. Quality went down and the taste wasn't the same, and most importantly the HYPE WOW FACTOR had died out. If you have never tried this place, by all means get a plate to try it out. They cook everything on the same type of Benihana flat top grill and their sauce is good. Steak is definitely low grade, shrimp is definitely frozen WalMart farmed type, chicken is good (can't mess up chicken), small lobster tail is like $20.. At Oasis (in Van Nuys) what I ordered would cost $27.00, which is what I paid at the truck for my box. I just think maybe the amount of food is not the same as you would get at the restaurants. I mean at Benihana you still get an appetizer and soup. Don't get me wrong, the food is good - steak was so tender and the shrimp was not rubbery at all. The fried rice and veggies was a great compliment to the protein. It wasn't salty (like some reviews said). It tasted great and was just enough for me to share but I could have easily have eaten the whole thing.
