When this opened years ago, literally everyone I know all came here regardless of the drive - some from Calabasas, some from South Central, some from Koreatown, you get the idea.. Nowadays the only people you see here are the hypebeasts who haven't gotten the message, wearing hyped outfits just to flex while eating, paying $65/8th for some "exotic" rolling 1 gram woods instead of buying a pack.. you know the type. Everyone's reasoning was "it's Benihana on wheels and it's cheaper" for the hella taxed plates. In the beginning, the quality was consistent, the amount of food was good, meats weren't cheap cuts, rice wasn't used as a filler for 80% of the plate. While most of the homies got the plates with everything (steak, chicken, lobster tail) for like $45, I only ever got the steak and chicken plate which was around $25. Although it is technically "Benihana on wheels", it's still just a FOOD TRUCK, no seats, with very low overhead - so spending $25-45 at a TRUCK just always seemed like overkill. *THEY EVEN TOOK DOWN PRICES FROM THEIR MENU.... WONDER WHY... After getting plates here a few times a week for almost a year, everyone I know stopped coming here including me. Quality went down and the taste wasn't the same, and most importantly the HYPE WOW FACTOR had died out. If you have never tried this place, by all means get a plate to try it out. They cook everything on the same type of Benihana flat top grill and their sauce is good. Steak is definitely low grade, shrimp is definitely frozen WalMart farmed type, chicken is good (can't mess up chicken), small lobster tail is like $20.. I do recommend trying it at least once just for the experience. Then go buy some king crab legs, lobster tails, ribeye from Costco and whip up something extra fire for cheaper. read more

Surprised y how good this food was from this food truck. We split a trio plate with shrimp, filet mignon and chicken with vegetable fried rice and it was quite good. Relatively quick time from order to pickup and was happy with the meal. Very nice size portions and Mid price for food truck. read more

A good, hearty meal, but nothing amazing. The fried rice is delicious, wish there was more meat, and the vegetables were very bland and obviously frozen. However, definitely hits the spot and makes a good overall meal. They have 2 trucks, you can order at either one. Very disappointed not my first time but definitely my last time coming here the last time I came was a month or so ago and although it's pricey it's convenient and the food is good but today a Friday night when you are paying $40 or more for a plate and go home and open ur plate and see the smallest shrimp in the world is very disappointed and unappetizing . Like really ??! They changed the jumbo shrimp to baby shrimp and it's still the same price !? YUM! This stuff was so good. I tried this spot with my best friend because it's posted up DAILY in front of the BevMo on Sepulveda and is always poppin. I had to try it and it did not disappoint. The food was super tasty - I got lobster and shrimp with fried rice . The only small downside is that it's a little pricey for the amount of protein you get and also it can take a while for them to prepare so don't go if you're in a hurry or like "about to kill someone" type of hungry. I have been coming here off and on since they first opened. I went and ordered two plates and only gave a 2 dollar tip . To me I think that was ok since the prices went up and 2 dollars for not doing anything for me but give me a ticket with a number on it!!! The girl was helping me and after she helped me she turned and started talking to a worker right next to her in Spanish. Little did she know that I'm Mexican to and understood everything she said. This truck was so good when it first started but has went downhill. There's no real care in the food anymore and you can taste the difference. I'll get right to it... It's not you average food truck. After hearing rave reviews I decided to try it out. My son and I ordered the filet and shrimp combo with fried rice and easy veggies. Everything was fantastic! Hot and fresh and the portions were a good size. They have some chairs but no tables so we ate in the car. It's on the pricey side but it is filet and shrimp. Our plates were around $31.00 each, drink not included. They have cheaper items such as scallops and rice as well. I would come back. Wait time for the food is approximately 15-20 minutes. Staff was nice. Truck was clean. Interesting place and I'm already craving more... Enjoy! read more

This food truck is insanely good. I dont get why it isnt rated 5 stars. Whenever im really hungry and want something good af to eat this is my go to place. The steak is average but the shrimp and lobster are amazing. Just make sure to get a couple diablo sauces with your order because they carry. I would still eat this without the sauces but if you could get them its a must. And the fried rice is 10/10. Theres just one thing I wouldnt recommend and that is ordering your steak medium rare. Got the 405 trio. Definitely enough for two people. I chose to not put any sauce, salt, soy sauce, or anything. I ate it the way it came off the truck. It was absolutely amazing. I waited almost 20 minutes. They told me when I ordered it would take that long. You can order ahead, or just hit up BevMo while you wait....just an idea. The food was amazing. The price was a little high, but it was better quality and taste than benihanna for about half the price. I say give it a try. I will definitely be trying another dish soon. read more

I was suckered in by the flashy Instagram pics and videos they post but things arent always as they seem :( After all their orders were cleared and I was the only customer at the time, I was told my order would be ready in 20-25min which is quite a long time but it was ready in 20min - dope! The flavors are LACKING HEAVY. I ordered half short rib and chicken just to try out more of their meats for my first time. I asked for them BOTH to be teriyaki. The chicken came out overcooked and dry af and...plain? No teriyaki flavor whatsoever. The short rib had a little bit of teriyaki but was heavily overpowered by a greasy, buttery flavor. The proteins were lightly seasoned which is to say the veggies had almost NO seasoning at all..probably drenched in butter like their meats...I didnt come here for bland food! The rice was good tho lol not sure if you can mess that up. I got 4 sauces, one of was old (it tastes tangy and off. Couldn't even tell you what I got was it was so off lol). The teriyaki, hot sauce, and garlic butter were fine. Service was chill, the guy and lady that served me were nice and gave me everything I needed. 3 stars because I dont think it was worth paying $20 for bland and buttery food. We found out about this place when someone that sat with us at our Benihana table told us about it. They said it was bomb and that we had to try it. So we did, and I was so disappointed and underwhelmed. They endlessly promote the plate that has all the proteins on their IG (steak, chicken, shrimp etc.), and was shocked when they told us that: ONE plate of those was $70. At a food truck?! Benihana would be cheaper LOL. I think that is absolutely ridiculous. I ended up getting the chicken instead, because no one is going to spend $150 on two plates of food at a food truck... and at the end: it was just ok. Not any more flavorful than Boilers Grill. Great food, amazing flavors. Came to this spot for a late night meal after the LA fair. We were starving. You know the typical expensive fair food that taste terrible. Well, we stopped off and ordered our food while we were on the road. It took them 25 min to complete the order. The serving size was enough to fill you up with a lot left over. The fried rice was so flavorful, and the veggies cooked perfection. The salmon that I ordered though was a tad bit overcooked. The consistency of chicken breast but must say the flavor was amazing. The ginger sauce and garlic butter just puts this meal over the top. My kids want to eat there tomorrow. They ordered the chicken and steamed rice. The price for my meal was about 15dollars each meal. Not a problem being that the food was quality. I cant eat fast food everyday but what I can eat, is a great food touch quality meal. read more

This is one very interesting concept for a food truck. Teppanyaki chefs cooking fresh steak, seafood, rice and more right in front of you. I will do a pros and cons to give you a better idea. Pros - Food is absolutely delicious. I was very happy with both the teriyaki steak and lobster.. the rice also hit the spot but I would ask them to make it chicken fried rice with teriyaki - the fact you can see the chefs cooking your meal is awesome as you usually only get that at Yamato and Benihana. - location is prime. You can also park in the parking lot with no issues. - You can order ahead sometimes and have them prepare the food before you get there. Cons - Pricing is a bit high. Basically the same as a restaurant. - The Wait.. it took about 35 minutes for my food to be ready.. it's understandable to a certain extent due to 3 people ahead of me but that was rough wait. Definitely suggest ordering ahead. All together, I felt this truck deserved a 4 star due to its amazing chefs that cook delicious Teppanyaki meals. read more

Every single time I order from this truck, my food is spectacular. My friend lives right up the block and we would always see this truck and people gathered and then someone recommended them and now I'm not sure what took me so long. You can't go wrong with the friend rice and any combination of food (meat and/or poultry) on the menu. I also saw that they have vegetarian options, so you folks get down there too. All the food is made to order, so be patient, but you see them working through the huge window, so you know it's being cooked as quickly as humanly possible without messing up your order. Watching them reminds me of a way more delicious Benihana and the results are outstanding. Eat here n Damn y'all, I distinctly said NO BROCCOLI or CARROTS and what's in my plate? That grossness.
