I visited Kai Ramen for the first time in years and had a pretty good experience. It's been hard to find a ramen shop that serves a flavorful broth and doesn't skimp out on the pork Chasu. It was refreshing to not be disappointed by our ramen, so my mom and I went back less than a week later. Any issues we experienced our first visit were either repeated or amplified during our second visit. Both times I noticed that the ramen isn't served hot. At best, it's served warm, so despite being a quick eater, the last bites of my bowls were "enjoyed" cold. Also, the restaurant is very busy with to go orders, so the overwhelmed staff has to juggle dine in as well as delivery drivers and their priority is the to go orders. They have a sign up/wait list, but they don't follow it. Customers who stand at the door, in the staff's view, will be seated before others who signed up before, but are off to the side. Lastly, is the issue of cleanliness. Our first visit the restaurant didn't feel very clean, but by the second, I was sure they weren't cleaning throughly. We ordered fresh garlic and the garlic masher they gave still had old garlic inside. On top of that, they don't wipe tables between customers because they're so busy. Strictly rating the food, Kai Ramen deserves a solid 4 stars, but as a whole, I think 3 stars is generous. Unfortunately, another visit wouldn't change anything because the problem is caused by management understaffing and overworking employees.

the ramen was great! super flavorful and fresh ingredients, which is different to find nowadays with ramen spots. the spicy chicken ramen was my favorite. the server was nice enough to give a side of dressing to go since the salad was amazing! they make their dressing in house. will be coming back here to try the vegan ramen! its in a strip mall, so be warned there was not much parking we did have to park in the street with a running meter.
This is a relatively quick spot to pop in and enjoy a wonderful bowl of hot or cold ramen with thick or thin noodles - yum. Expect to wait a bit during peak dining hours, though. It's not a large spot and the parking is shared with numerous other businesses. There's a good selection of appetizers like calamari, shrimp tempura, croquettes, and the like. All ideal for sharing, and at a reasonable price. I see a fair amount of takeout orders whenever I'm here to dine in, so that's a good option for people who would prefer to dine at home. My one critique, and the reason for four stars, is because of the bathroom ... it is disgusting. I get that this place is a bit worn around the edges and evidently doesn't get enough of a scrubbing on a regular basis, but I cannot forgive how the bathroom looks and smells every time I'm here. I just visited again this week and, despite the bathroom door being closed, I could smell the gross odor from where I was sitting at the bar!!!! I could not believe it. Yes, the smell is that distinct that I could definitely tell what it was.

The black ramen is one of the best ramen I've ever had! Perfectly rich broth and tender pork. The place is small but worth the wait! Waitstaff very friendly and service is great. Sometimes the plaza parking is full on weekends we just go on the street.
Kai Ramen is a cozy little spot with some solid bowls of ramen. The broth had good flavor, and everything felt fresh and well put together. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I wouldn't necessarily drive across town just to eat here, but if you're in the Sherman Oaks area and craving ramen, it definitely hits the spot.
came in on 05/10/2025 around 5pm. Food: Tried their Tsukemen for the first time. It was served with two tender slices of pork and marinated egg. The broth was thick and salty, pairs so well with the jumbo ramen noodles. They have a new Fried Calamari appetizer on the menu, it comes with I believe a sriracha mayo dip. The batter was well seasoned and the calamari itself is not rubbery. The batter got burned a bit, but I do not mind at all. Service: It was perfect. The staff were attentive. Atmosphere: The dining space was clean. Gives off a typical Ramen Restaurant vibe. It has counter seating. Overall the food tasted great. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. I don't go to Tsujita anymore for Tsukemen. Kai Ramen all the way.
I haven't eaten pork in about a decade and Kai Ramen is the ONLY place that brings the same flavor in a chicken version. Their Buttercorn Chicken Ramen is my holy grail, I've ordered it multiple times over the years via delivery- comparing it to other more "popular" spots versions (both in the valley and not) that absolutely do NOT begin to compare to the depth of flavor Kai has been able to replicate and achieve. If I'm sick or it's a cold day this is my go-to and will continue to be for as long as they're open.
Awesome ramen spot that we stumbled on while staying in the area. They had table tops and sushi bar seating as well. We had a decent sized group and we didn't want to wait so we all just sat at the sushi bar. The ramen and the apps were delicious. The staff was nice as well. Definitely a spot im coming back when im in the area again.

We stopped by after a trip to the beach on 07/30/2026. We stopped here because of the reviews and it was on our way home. My husband ordered the Bomb Ramen. He thought it was good, but wished there was more of the spicy meat and more veggies. He also ordered the sesame fried chicken. We thought it was VERY fried which made it hard. Tasted okay when allowed to soak in the ramen for a while. I ordered the Beef ramen. It had good broth, but the noodles were very bland and did not absorb the taste of the broth. I also ended up finding a hair in it, so it kinda ruined my appetite anyways. The seating area is a bit crowded, so avoid eating in when it's busy. The parking situation is also a bit difficult. A lot of spaces are reserved for other businesses and it fills up fast. read more

I had an amazing experience here. Place is very cute. Service was super fast and she was very nice. The food was delicious, I got a chicken bowl and also tried the dumplings. Everything was pretty cheap too. Like you get such a great meal for such a good place. Love that the place is orange. It's fun to be there. Great icecream place nearby as well. read more

This has been my go to ramen spot for over a decade, but unfortunately the staff was extremely condescending tonight. Stopped by 4 minutes past their last call (totally understandable it just wasn't posted online so I didn't know) and the employee who explained this treated us with such a condescending tone. Feeling really disappointed since staff had always been so kind in prior visits. It's not just what you say, it's also how you say it that makes an impact. read more

Kai ramen has a good selection of soup choices. They had pork, chicken and vegetarian soup bases. I got the miso tonkotsu and recommend their calamari. The staff was really nice, and the food didn't take too long. The restaurant was nice too. read more
I don't know how this place slipped through my research. Ever since bring back from Japan we are constantly on the hunt for authentic and delicious ramen, my friend recommended this place to us and I don't know how I didn't see this before. It has amazing reviews and a block away from my husband's office. Even though it was 100 degrees yesterday, we were craving ramen and really intrigued to try this place. So far this is in the top two ramen in LA for us, we really want to come back and try other types of ramen they provide but we really enjoyed it! Let me not forget to mention our server Sophie! She was so kind and helpful, she checked on us multiple times, she answered all our questions (we had a lot for being first timers here), and she did everything with a smile. Service was amazing, they were so so nice! This place has an authentic Japanese 'hole in the wall' feel to it, super easy to pop in and have some delicious ramen. They have a fantastic selection of ramen and sides. I highly recommend getting a combo with the gyoza and salad. Their gyoza is delicious and they do a black sesame salad dressing which I loved and haven't seen anywhere else before. Also do yourself a favor and order the spicy tuna crispy rice, I had one before I ate my ramen and one right after, it was perfect. The chicken ramen was light and the best I've had in LA, I added sprouts on the side. My husband got the white ramen, it was delicious, I really liked the broth, it was just a little garlic heavy for me but he is a garlic lover so it was perfect for him. Im in town on business and a friend recommended this place. Its in a strip mall and parking can be difficult but well worth it!!! Its small but man can they make ramen. I had the Ramen Combo, goyza and house salad. The salad was excellent the dressing was rich and a had a great balance of sweet and acid (bottle this stuff and sell it) was a great way to start the meal, it was topped with fried shallots. The Goyza, was fried, myself included prefer mine fried on one side, but they were excellent. The star was the Ramen, i ordered an extra egg and this was spicy and it did not disappointed. The broth was rich and had lots of flavor. It came with ground beef, corn, green onions, egg and noodles. The noodles were excellent they had a nice chew to them, just how i love them, the corn was fresh (not canned) and had a great corn taste to them the green onions added a nice contrast to the meal. I love seasoned eggs i always get an extra egg and these did disappoint. Service was friendly from the time i walked in, when I arrived i was the only customer, but service continued to be friendly as more and more people arrived. Its a small place not very well decorated but who cares the food here is first rate ill be back when im back in town!!! read more
We were in Hollywood and decided to take a drive out the city and try something out the area. Very happy I stopped here. Place is small not to much seating. This place looks like it will get packed at night. Order the peppers, gyoza, edamame, and 2 ramens. I must say if it wasn't to far from me this would be my go to spot. Walked in on a Saturday at 7pm. We didn't wait at all and sat at the bar. Service was fast and efficient. Ramen was good no complaints! Only thing is I wish they had more toppings included like other places. Price point was ok. Edamame was cooked perfectly my favorite part of the meal! Had an amazing time. I took my usual, black ramen, and my dad tried the Red Miso Ramen. I loved them both, but never tried a Miso Ramen before and oh my God, did it hit the spot! Will definitely order it for myself next time. read more

Ajinomoto is already in any soy base sauce . So we recommend the salt base soup such as Kais White , Black , Red .

Sorry we do not take reservation because of limited seatings . However we do our best to turn tables as fast as possible .
