Ok tbh I have only ordered take out, but have to give it up to this new place (for us anyways) so can not speak for place itself or ambiance, staff etc. But what I can talk about is the food which was fabulous. The 22 my new weekend go-to, chicken that is breaded perfectly with nice texture with two of the best waffles ever ever. Tasted like funnel cake, and the maple bacon bourbon syrup kicked it up next level, as a NOLA fan, this was my jam. The Taphouse burger was a good size, standard, and came with the normal topping though would have liked more onion and tomato, but filling and the fries were super good. Southwest chicken eggrolls were FIRE, and brought the heat. My partner did not like but I loved, heat and all. The Dilla a hard pass, not much going on, a plain tortilla w a bit cheese, even a kid would not like imo. Lastly the crab rangoons, odd for the menu, but once again here for it!! With the bourbon syrup pairing they were the bomb, will definitely order again-and am sure we will be getting take out once a week. Everything packaged so well, all accoutrements were bagged, and I was impressed. This was a great spot to find on a COVID weekend in Springfield. I came by myself after 10pm on a Saturday and it was exactly what I was looking for. It's a bit confusing about ordering/sitting, but maybe that was just because I was a first timer there. Go to the left side of the bar (assuming you enter from the parking lot, not the street) and place your order before finding a seat. Besides beer, I had the pickle fries and toasted ravioli. In Missouri, you have to get toasted ravioli, right? They were better than most that I've had, good and chewy! The pickle fries were too much breading, not enough pickle. I still finished them, of course! There are quite a few beers on tap and more in cans. I also like seeing the beer menu displayed on the screen above the bar. It would have been cool to see that on more screens, just so that I could start planning out beer #2 while seated at a table. Regardless, the service was friendly and efficient. Rather enjoyed it here. Came here on a Thursday night and there were too many people around. Ordered the fresh French fires, which were good. Ordered the fresh made mozzarella sticks which were ok, not good. Needed a touch more salt for me, kinda bland. (But I like that better than overly seasoned Sysco shit). The fresh made waffles were wonderful!!! We decided to try the Welsh rarebit fries and they were AMAZING! The cheese sauce was delightfully tasteful!!! Next time, I get a large order of that. I'm not a beer drinker, so I honestly wasn't expecting much when I was invited to join some friends at 417 Taphouse, but this place really charmed me with its geek-bait decor and simple-but-delicious food. The bacon burger I ordered (1/3 pound patty, which they elongate and serve on a hoagie bun) was nothing short of exquisite despite being in no way dressed up, and it came with a giant helping of equally fantastic fries. The veggies and condiments were all top-notch, making for a very good, very basic burger that beat some of the more classed-up ones I've tried at other downtown locations. Came here on a trip from St. Louis. Awesome place. I saw some reviews about the pour your own beer was a tad confusing. It's actually quite simple. You give the bartender your credit card. In return you get a card that allows you to walk up to one of the taps and pour as much beer as you want. I love the fact that it shows you how much the drink is costing you while you pour the tap. The setup allowed me to taste a lot of beers that I normally wouldn't even bother trying. The atmosphere of the place is excellent Lots of nerdy stuff like board games, video games, pinball, and skee ball. The fact that my buddy and I could sit on the couch there and play Mario Kart 64 while enjoying our beers was a great touch. Outside they had bags setup which was nice also. Love this place! I've been here many times since they opened and we always have a great time. Yesterday my fiancé and I split a twenty two (2 waffles, 2 chicken tenders & fries) for $6! We have been here three times now, and most recently we stopped in to take advantage of their happy hour specials. Their happy hour is 3:00-6:00 pm and it is two dollars off their draft beers. I had the Spooklight from Leaky Roof Meadery and The Myrcenary IPA from Odell's. They have a wonderful selection of beers on tap, in cans, and bottles. We also bought the mozzarella cheese sticks and the pickle fries for snacks while we enjoyed our beers. I did not love the cheese sticks as much as I would have liked. To me they needed to go in the fryer a little longer and be a bit crisper but the pickle fries were awesome! I don't really like fried pickles but these are cut like fries (hint in the name) and they were crispy and tangy. I would definitely order those again. This is a really unique place with just as unique a philosophy towards how the customers are served. They have self serve tap's for customers to serve themselves and they are charged by the ounce consumed. A pass key is provided by the bar staff to access the taps, pretty neat. Decor, what can you say it's a Geeks dream, Star Wars and just about any other retro sci-fi/marvel accoutrements adorn the walls and shelves. There is a giant Boba Fett picture made out of bottle caps, a life sized jenga set, video games, it goes on and on. Honestly the place is never ending with cool things and I swear it changes week to week, always something new showing up on the walls. So hows the food, pretty darn good, the fresh curly fries are a big standout here. You have to have a special machine just to make these and they are fresh cut. The burgers are served long ways on more of a hoagie style bun with all the normal toppings. One of my favorites is the corned beef, very lean and fat free, it's served on a variety of dish's. If you are in the mood for pasta give the mostaccioli a try, the meat sauce is hearty and plentiful. Almost forgot one of the signature dish's chicken and waffles with honey bourbon sauce, great value for the money. Overall its clean and inviting, depending on your geek meter the decor can be super cool to look through. Prices, extremely reasonable, with good sized portions. Bar was not busy at all maybe less than 20 people and waited 10 minutes to be helped. 3. waited over 1.5 hours to get my food 4. Got curly fries and they were so burnt that when you dropped them on the table they turned to dust. 5. Waitress rarely came by to check on us or to grab more drink orders 6. Ordered three different apps and they came out one at a time a few minutes apart. Then when the entrees started showing up it was the same routine. The pickle fries were over fried and the oil needs changed as they had that heavy dirty oil taste. The stuffed burger was good but not a $16 burger. Taphouse offers the thicker patty style which has always come cooked to perfection with a side of what are undeniably the best curly fries I have ever had the honor to consume. I haven't had anything I didn't like, the chicken and waffles are excellent, the wings are top notch and the prices are fair. The service is always excellent, friendly and fast. The bartender/waitress we've sometimes had is always upbeat and positive, if you're having a bad day you'll feel cheered up just by being in her presence. All the servers are quick to bring your food when you hear the bell and seem genuinely concerned about you being happy with your meal. The place is always clean and there are video games, pinball and some other bar games you can play while you wait for you food. You won't be sorry you tried this place. read more

We saw the "fun" pedal bar and wanted a picture of it so I sat down on a seat for like 2 minutes while my friend took the picture. I'm not sure if I like the concept of this bar or not. Thank goodness I showed up late and had friends who had already gotten themselves set up...because the setup process is not clear or familiar in any way. It works like this: go up to the bar, give then your id and credit card, and they will give you one of their cards and keep your credit card and license. You use their card to scan in front of any of the self pour taps, and it gives you 15 seconds to pour your beer. The glasses are in a cooler at the end of the bar. Your total goes off ounces poured, so that's how your bill is figured. If you want to order food, you have to do that at the bar. They will give you a metal stand with a playing card to take back to your table. When you're all done, go back to the bar, pay your tab, and get your stuff back. They have a nice beer selection, including nitro pours, local beers, and specialty brews. There are video games, a game room, and pictures of archer characters on the bathroom doors...I like the decorations and the layout...but there are also things that I don't like. One, the amount of time it takes to get the scan card at the bar register. That needs to be streamlined somehow...second, the lack of interaction from the staff. Maybe the time setting up the card wouldn't have seemed so long if the girl had made small talk, our eye contact...something. She didn't say a single word, and that made it ridiculous. No greeting, no conversation...me just standing there in silence while she worked on the register. So awkward. The second thing I didn't like is going to make me sound like a stick in the mud...but this place is not the safest...leaving people to their own vices...and I am speaking from experience. You can pour as many 8% beers as you want, all day long. No limits, no one keeping track of how many drinks you've had. I love it and hate it at the same time. They do serve good food...good fries with lots of topping options, chicken and waffles, and burgers (which are elongated and served on a hoagie roll. Just a heads up). The fried pickles are great too, but come out at 400 degrees and never cool down. Definitely worth trying, especially if you can practice some self restraint. :-) read more
