So sad to see what's happened to our legendary Cody's burger. I ordered the famous cheese burger I've been getting here for almost 3 decades only to discover something had gone awry the second my plate hit the table. The "new" gourmet style bun was about the size of silver dollar and the burger as flat as a potato chip!! You'd think I was in manhattan eating chefs portions. Best Walleye ever! We go specifically on Wednesday to get the walleye! Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly! I don't even use cocktail sauce or tartar sauce because it doesn't need any! Drinks are great and reasonably priced! Definitely give this place a try. All the other sandwiches and entrees my group has ordered were fantastic too. Busy at lunchtime, but still taken care of in enough time to get back to work on time! read more

This use to be the spot for a giant hamburger back in the day! Now you can still get a pretty good dive burger, but there are so many places in town now that one has lots of choices. Do you want quality or quantity? While the burgers are still a good size with okay flavor: the fries and other sides they offer will leave you disappointed. I'd say the place is more of a dive bar with a decent burger instead of a restaurant with a bar. Not a bad place to take a group who want burgers and beers. read more

They have pool tables with pay to play and tournaments and a digital jukebox. There are TVs showing sports. Ok this place has been around forever and yes its a bar, so you have been forewarned. It's not the place you go for a family Sunday lunch. That aside it's known for its fresh burgers and fries. Which is all cooked from fresh ingredients by order. They can cook a nice burger here and the fries are great to. Now I understand everyone has their favorite local burger place, this is it for a lot of people. I've eaten here many many times over the years, and it's consistent in good food quality. Now it being a bar they do have pool table's and host a Sunday tournament. It's a blue collar place with friendly servers, they can be outspoken at times in a colorful way. My favorite thing here though isn't the burger, its the walleye, served on, you guessed it Walleye Wednesday. You get a good sized fillet of fried walleye with cole slaw and those fresh cut fries. One of the best walleye meals in town. So if you are in the mood for some blue collar bar food, cooked fresh to order, give this place a try. We love Cody's! I have eaten at Cody's since I was a kid and continue to eat at Cody's as an adult. My favorite location is the location on Sunshine. They have the Larry Burger and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and service here. Springfield has a lot of great places to get burgers, but Cody's has a pure, simple burger that I always find enjoyable and would often rather have than an over the top burger from other places. Cody's fries are delicious too and I have a particular soft spot for the breaded mushrooms. Next time you are craving a burger, pop into Cody's, belly up to the bar and enjoy a nice cold beer and a great burger. You will not be disappointed. read more

My family has a tradition after a long hike to find the best burger in the area, and our research led us here. First thought on pulling into parking lot "If the parking lot is this full at 11:30 on a Sunday morning, than either the burgers are amazing or the locals have serious drinking problems." Thankfully for us, and for the livers of Springfield, it was the former. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss (with bacon) while my husband ordered the bacon cheddar. The waitress reviewed our order and read his back as a "small bacon cheddar," which my husband immediately corrected to "the big one." After convincing her he could handle it, we sat back and awaited our meal. When it arrived, we understood why she had hesitated. The large burger is HUGE. Both burgers were amazing- hand-formed patties cooked to the correct temperature (a true medium and a true mid-rare) with really flavorful, crisp bacon. It was a great experience! read more

I was absolutely blown away by this place. The food is fresh and insanely good. I ordered the Smaller Cheeseburger Medium Well, Curly Fries, and Chicken Tenders. The Cheeseburger was 8/10. The meat is of a higher quality, and it is was cooked to perfection. The fries were alright, but they taste better the more you drink. My biz associate and I ate here recently. Both got the pork tenderloin sandwich. It was greasy and bland. My associate enjoyed it more than I did but the curly fries were good. The waitressing service was slow. No offer for a drink refill no extra napkins and no one too ask. We've wanted to try this place for several years now and today we finally made the choice. We arrived to a packed bar and were given menus and told the specials . My wife and I both chose the same special, a bacon cheddar and grilled onion burger. We both ordered our burgers medium well done. They arrived and my bottom bun was totally soggy with blood and grease from the burger. When I bit into it, it was totally red and bloody. It was warm, but way undercooked for ground beef. My wife's burger was the same. We waited for our waitress, Jade, to check in with us and ask how the meal was. It did not happen until she brought the bill and asked if she could clear our plates. We had eaten our fries, but each had bloody burgers still on our plate. I stated the burgers were raw, she looked at the red oozing meat and said, "oh, sorry about that". She then carried them away. When she came to take my credit card, she did not mention the raw burgers. We paid the bill and left. We will not return. We will not recommend the place. My husband and I found this place on yelp and decided to try it out. It is a dive in every sense of the word. The burgers were great- very juicy and flavorful. It was a $12 burger for $8. The mushrooms were tasty also, the half order was more than enough for 2 of us. The prices were very reasonable. Springfield is now non-smoking so the air was much cleaner than we expected from previous reviews. They have a kids menu that was very reasonable as well. read more

It's a bar that also serves food. Found that out a little too late when we walked in with our kids. Met some coworkers here, and the food was decent and the servers were friendly. However, it is a bar, and bars are bars, and are not for kids, so was glad the swearing and lewd behavior was not obvious. Not bad, but I do think the rating is a little high. Dive bar atmosphere and average bar food. I tried the wings, cheese burger and fries. The wings were too soggy for my liking ( I asked for crispy), my burger was dry and gray (I asked for medium rare), and the fries were nothing to write home about.
