A comfortable spot where the emphasis is as much -- if not more -- on "grill" as "bar." A group of five enjoyed supper here with meals ranging from burgers to sandwiches to pizza. The general thought was that The Roost was just a little "off" with its menu. The mega-meat pizza was a little overcooked and under-seasoned. First time at The Roost and it was great. Was visiting family and just picked this from yelp to get together with other family also from out of town. Very friendly and informative staff. Great variety on the menu. Obvious it was a chicken place but, they had pizza to burgers and more. I had naked chicken sandwich, sweet potato waffle fries and fried mushrooms for app. Terrific. Grilled chicken salad gone to hell. Smaller and no flavor. Do not order steak salad either. Better go with fattening burger and onion rings. I never send food back but we didn't eat most of salad. They used to be best in town. Server was sweet and said they were short staffed. She talked to manager and he or she ( never saw her or him or they) out. Took 20 percent off check. Wow lol. We ordered the sampler basket with fried pickles, mushrooms and onion rings. My husband ordered the mushroom Swiss with waffle fries. My friend ordered the nachos (huge). It was a busy night on a Wednesday and me and a group of kids came in for a dine dine. Sat ourselves at a table and just waited for any server's. Some saw us and we just chilled there. Took about 15min but its all good, a grill bar place u know. The guy finally came and serve us. Took all of our orders, and he was great. The food didn't take too long, we was just very hungryyyyyy. We tore it all up, from appetizers to pizzas, wings and pasta. We order more food, and it came out less then 15 minutes. Walked in after the lunch rush, not busy at all. In fact we were told "sit wherever you want." After taking our seat I watched as the waitresses talked with each other, checking their phones and drinking sodas. Then one would break off and ask another table if they wanted more drinks, or handing checks; then they would go right back to congregating.. Mind you we are right in the middle of the restaurant; staff is walking right by us! We were being treated as we were invisible! Another couple walked in and sat near the door, and they were taken menus immediately! Was there something I was missing? Was I supposed to ring a bell, raise my hand, yell?!! After another few minutes "10 minutes total without being acknowledged" we got up, and on the way out I said "great service you have here." A staff member replied "thanks!" To which i responded "we were never even acknowledged!" I knew that their other location also had lousy service but it seems to have carried over here as well. The Roost is our favorite local bar and grill. Every time we have been there we've had great, friendly service and hot fresh food. My husband loves the burgers and I always get one of their salads because they are always fresh and loaded with veggies (their dressings are phenomenal as well). So myself and 2 others went to this restaurant today 6/4/23 around 1230. 1 persons order was correct, my order was correct but by the time I received any condiments I had eaten most of burger, my sister ordered a patty melt without bread & onion rings. She was given a double cheeseburger on a bun. She started eating her onion rings while we waited to get someone's attention. They said the cook needs the cheeseburger back before he can make the correct item. In the mean time I place an order to go, which was a cheeseburger with regular fries. My sister asked about getting new onion rings so she would have hot ones to go with her patty melt. We got the manager involved & were told since she was eating the original onion rings they could make her new ones and charge her. We were like "so she's suppose to just sit here and eat nothing while we're eating our food?" In the mean time we have to ask for refills. Then the to go order arrives & they've given us onion rings instead of fries. The manager comes over, puts on gloves and removes the onion rings (like are you going to give them to someone else?) I said I think ya all got a cook problem today. She gets snotty & says well I wish you'd been nicer & not made your waitress cry...(we were never nasty to her, we were just stating facts & asking that they be corrected) A different waitress brings us the replacement. I open it & it's waffle fries. At this point I said I'm not gonna make a big deal over this because this whole lunch as been a fiasco & we have somewhere to be but these were supposed to be regular fries & we need our ticket so we can leave. And to top this WHOLE experience off she comes back with the check and says "have the day you deserve" like WTH??? My sister didn't hear what she said & asked a 2nd time for her to go tea. When she took a drink she said it tasted like they'd poured coffee in it. My family used to frequent this establishment weekly, if not more. They will no longer receive our hard earned money! This is our first time visiting. We came in on a Tuesday evening and they were extremely busy. We sat down and within a minute were greeted with menus by our server. She was very attentive and had great recommendations. We ordered the carnivore pizza and a burger to share. They were both delicious. The burger we ordered with everything on the side and just the plain burger was very flavorful! The pizza was loaded with toppings and they make their own ranch. We have been here more than one time. The first time I got a wrap and it was delicious. It had chicken (fried) and queso with lettuce and pico. Then then the second time I had a burger which was very small. They hand make their patties which was great but i was expecting I guess more? I am thinking I just got the ugly patty. My family and I have been to the location on sunshine and love it but stay away from the one on Cox road. They Do not have the same specials that the sunshine location even tho it's under the same ownership! My child ordered a chicken tender basket with fries and she chose a side salad in place of the fries and there was an additional charge. The chenders were not even fully cooked. The beer is pricey and I ordered a salad with a side of broccoli and they charged me $4.99 for that side.! The salad was horrible! And There was an up charge of $2.99 on every extra side we ordered along with the meal purchase even tho it's says on the menu .99 cents. We've eaten here several times. Haven't found anything not to our liking. I've had the Roost Burger several times, and it never disappoints. Tried their wings for the first time the other day, and they were excellent. Not an over breaded wing either. In fact, no breading. I've also had several of their chicken items, from strips to sandwiches, and they were all good. Even their pastas were good, and definitely try the chicken-Mac-and-cheese. I'm Lynne M.'s sister, and this review piggybacks off hers regarding our experience on June 4th. Someone else delivered our food, and my sandwich was wrong. We told another waitress that our order was wrong when we couldn't see our waitress. I'm hungry so I start eating my onion rings. When our waitress arrived she immediately sees the problem and says she'll have the kitchen make the right sandwich. When she returns, she takes the wrong sandwich with her and leaves the onion rings. I ask for a new order of onion rings since the original order would be cold by the time my correct sandwich is delivered. She comes back to our table and explains since I started eating the onion rings I would be charged for a fresh order. The only way I would not have been charged was to return them along with the incorrect sandwich! So I was supposed to sit there with no food while the rest of my party ate and the kitchen corrected their mistake! I explained we were regular customers. It didn't matter. I requested a manager. The manager repeated what the waitress had said. I again explained that we visited their establishment 1-2 times a week. NOTHING! I said, "Well, we won't be back!" Manager still didn't care! Then our carry out meal was wrong, and the manager accused us of making our waitress cry. We only stated the facts. We didn't get angry with her. When the "correct" side was delivered, it was still wrong. We told the nearest waitress that the side was still wrong but we needed to go and asked for our check. The waitress whom we requested our check from, drops the check off and "Hope you have the day you deserve!" WHAT?!? I'm the bad guy beside I asked for a fresh, hot side of onion rings. Then two more mistakes occur? WOW!! And my to go iced tea tasted like coffee had been added to the tea. Never experienced such unprofessional, disrespectful behavior all because of a side of onion rings. Very disappointed in a restaurant that we considered one of our favorite neighborhood places to eat. Used to recommend The Roost to family and friends. Won't be doing that anymore. This is my favorite place to eat drink and have a good time. It's definitely a locals hot spot. Their hot wings are never dry and always crazy delicious, they have the best deep fried mushrooms. They have a killer buffalo salad. When I come here I usually have a difficult time decided what to order cause I love everything they have! But not only is their food some of the best bar food I have ever had but they also have a full game room with ski ball,hoops, shuffle board, pool table, darts and much more. So not only is this a place to get great food it is also a great place to have fun, watch sports on one of their many TVs and drink from their extensive bar with many beers on tap.
