I never do reviews, but I had to, the owner more than one time three times was totally disrespectful to me. I asked her why she was treating me like I said don't talk to me like that. Lynne, the owner, had the audacity to throw the phone in the lap of an 81 y/o woman because she was "overwhelmed and frustrated " by her clients. I told her I dont give a damn about what kind of day you're having. You NEVER have the right to disrespect ANYONE especially an 81 year old woman because you're having a bad day! Went in for a pedicure. My nails came out great and the whole process was nice. The only thing I didn't like was that the instruments were taken out of a drawer and weren't sterilized. After she was finished, she rinsed them off (not washed, just rinsed) and put them back in the drawer. Don't know if I would go back. read more

After being a patron of 42nd St. Nails for more than 20 years (even before Lynn Dang owned it), I will never set foot in there again! I've had concerns about the constant change in prices (up and down) and lack of consistency in charges. A month ago I got a full set. I was charged $45 and told refills would be $35. When I got my refill two weeks later, I was charged $30. I was pleasantly surprised. I know prices vary based on the product used, but I always get the EXACT SAME THING. Today I was charged $40 for a refill. When I tried to speak quietly to Lynn, the owner, she responded loudly for the entire shop to hear, calling me a liar and that I was never charged $30. Love this place! I've been traveling to this location from Franklinville for a little over a year because they do that GOOD of a job! It is seriously difficult to find a salon that stands behind their products/services snd is consistent every time! Lynn and her staff are always nice and welcoming. I feel like I'm home when I stop in for my manis and pedis. The best part --- Lynn (who is the owner) always remembers my name and where I work and other preferences of mine! They offer a variety of services from standard manis/pedis to waxing to eye lash extensions. I believe they also do eyebrow tinting. There is usually a wait because they truly do superior quality work -- doesn't matter which technician you get, you will leave satisfied. The owner Lynn is very rude and ignorant! She has a nasty attitude and demeanor. I walked in her nail salon, and she addressed me "What you want". Then argued with me about the type of service I wanted for my daughter. Just because your business is located in a predominantly african american neighborhood shouldn't matter as to how you address your clientele. When I'm spending my hard earned money in your business customer service is everything. I don't care about the services you offer, without quality customer service it means absolutely nothing. With so many nail salons in the area, you think you would show a little more professionalism. I believe Lynn thinks because she services minorities she can say and do whatever she wants, not with me. Not professional in the slightest. The colors they show on their nail color wheels that you are supposed to select from are not accurate at all. A 'nude' (or the closest thing they have to a nude - if you want nude, don't come) on the nail color wheel is a bright pink or a mauve when taken out of the drawer. I stopped them from painting my nails after they painted my nails a color that was NOTHING like the color I chose, and they said tough luck and told me to pick another color and pay full price. I spent over an hour in their salon and tried picking two more colors that proved inaccurate and totally different when I saw them in the bottle (didn't even have to paint them on to tell the difference). I did not want any of their colors and wanted to leave, but they proceeded to make me pay full price for the pedicure... the pedicure that didn't paint my nails. Half price was not offered, NO form of discount was offered, and they fought with me over it. Told me to go out, buy my own polish ($10) and come back and they would paint it. The lack of customer service is horrible. They showed a color on their wheel that they did not have, and tried to paint it on me knowing it was vastly different. Also, for what it's worth, their sanitation was lacking along with their ability to listen - my cuticles were cut after i asked them not to cut them three times. You're better off painting your nails at home or going almost anywhere else. read more

I love this place. I have been going here for years. Lee has been doing my nails for years. She does a great job. In the past I went to the other ladies & every time I had to get a refill, I had to get a nail or two fixed every time, but now I don't have that problem ever since Lee has been doing my nails. The only major complaint that I have is that the prices are very high compared to other salons. I'm to the point of trying other salons because of the cost. I'm very sad about it, but it has come to the point where it is too expensive any more. Great place, but cost is too high for me any more.
