So let me start by saying I am the biggest pain when it comes to my hair cut and color. I have very dark hair. I like many women am EXTREMELY particular. Throughout the years I have dyed it every trendy thing that goes with dark hair(think Beyoncé) and black to black. I came in without a recommendation from anyone and took a huge chance. Michael lightened my black dyed hair and managed to have very little red or Carmel picked up in the color. It was professionally done. Also he remained calm and confident and not arrogant like some stylist can be. He didn't over promise and I appreciated that. I love the beginning of my new look and can assure you if you are in the market and looking to try a new salon go here....You have nothing to loose. I just wanted to come here and sing praises for Michael and Gabe. I am Asian, my hair does not curl. Gabe made it do the impossible and it held on for a few hours. He was also able to restore the shine in my hair after years of having to use tar shampoo for my dermatitis and a really bad mask job by another salon. My hair looked alive and healthy again. It was a freaking miracle. Michael cut my moms hair, and she is in love with it. It's the first time she is in love with her haircut in YEARS. My mother has tried for years to find someone, and now she has sworn to only go here for the foreseeable future. Shes even making my dad go because shes that impressed. Gabe and Michael are awesome. By a friend's recommendation, I made an appointment at their former Rockaway location a few months ago. I explained to Michael that I've never had a specific hairstyle and said I was looking for something that was low maintenance and worked with the shape of my head. He knew just what to do and gave me a style that did not disappoint! He was also very helpful with explaining how to style it to keep it looking great. Got a lot of compliments on it in the weeks that followed. Just stopped in at their new Boonton location today and was pleasantly surprised that they remembered me. What can I say...I trust these boys completely! Where else can you go and say do whatever you want to my hair and have complete faith that you will walk out feeling like a million bucks ! My first color with Gabe was a CORRECTION of an attempt done at another salon to try and match my roots to my natural color, of course Gabe nailed it and I haven't gone anywhere else since. I've never had a good experience at a hair salon until now! I was nervous when I got there, but I was blown away by Michael and Gabe's hospitality. They're very knowledgeable about hair, hair products, and they keep your hair's health in mind. I went in for a cut, wash, and style, and I came out with my hair looking the best it has ever have. I have a ton of hair (I'm a total snuffleupagus), and it took Michael over three hours to get the job done, but he did a gorgeous job! During that time we talked and laughed, Gabe offered me tea, and it was such a fun experience that by the time they were done it only seemed to take a minute! Okay, I admit it, I was having a major hair crisis! My roots were in dire need of a touch-up but I was no longer happy with my color. It was too dark and just not "me." I work in Boonton part-time so thought I would check out salons in the area. The reviews for Michael and Gabe were great so I made an appointment for a consultation. When I came in and asked for a bob, I didn't know that I had, by chance, lucked into THE best place for this kind of haircut. I came in with long, damaged, dry hair and was a little worried about getting my hair cut and losing the length. But Michael is a bob genius! It all started 2 years ago with a Keratin special. Next was color, trim, etc. My hair has never looked better and I constantly receive compliments. Michael and Gabe are not your average "hairdressers". They are artists. Yes. Artists. First time at the salon today with my daughter. Mike cut my hair. I have very fine hair, and not a lot of it. No one has successfully styled my hair, but me. Mike gave me an outstanding cut and styled it beautifully. My daughter has been growing out her hair so she can donate it. Gabe cut off her donation and gave her a beautiful shoulder length cut! I've been going to her for years for cut and color, and at this point I've come to know her almost as a friend. I typically get a cut and single-process color, and I've also had highlights done there in the past. They keep all of your color information on record, which is really helpful because you can confidently see any stylist and still get consistent results. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any stylist here. Everyone is skilled, welcoming, and easy to talk to. On…read more10/1/21 I had to go back to have them fixed because beads were falling out and the weft was hanging. I ended up going every 2 weeks on Mondays to "move my extensions up" being in the industry and talking to many professionals, going 2 weeks for move ups is very unusual. Jess told me to come every 2-3 weeks if I'd like because "my hair grows faster" which was surely not the case. On 12/6/21 I went to my usual hair salon and had asked for a 2nd opinion because I was in so much pain (every 5-10 days after my "move up") I washed and dried my hair every 3 days and when brushing I would hold the top of the weft and brush so I wasn't pulling the weft. The girls at this well known salon highly advised I get the weft taken out ASAP. Upon taking them out they took 30 pictures of the mess on my head.. I'll post pictures. There were so many issues with the way Jess not only did my hair but how she very unprofessionally handled the situation.. which is a shame because we were kind of friends. 1. The weft was installed BACKWARDS. The seam and little hairs should have been against my scalp as a 'padding' against the beads which were supposed to be behind the weft, not on top. Which is sign 1 that she is inexperienced with extensions (pics attached) 2. The beads were placed on top of the weft and were placed randomly throughout the weft.. also no thread was used for 'hand tied' extensions 3. The pieces of hair pulled through the beads were so thin that the weft and my hair started giving out, which is why they fell every 2 weeks. The weft was so heavy that it actually pulled my hair OUT of my scalp causing in growns (in which 2 looked infected) 4. She did not use bellami beads like she said she was going to use because they were back ordered.. so my sister actually was told by Jess' mom that she ordered Amazon beads!!! The beads that she used RUSTED and was caked under the beads and on my scalp which caused irritation. My scalp was so sore the girls at my salon could barely touch it! I still have the beads and I have the paper towel that they tried cleaning the rust off with!!! 5. She improperly placed the weft. A weft is usually 2 rows of hair according to bellami.. she had me order 2 packs of hair AND SHE STILL HAS SOME OF THE HAIR I PAID FOR!!!! 6. She improperly cut the weft I BOUGHT and it started to unravel, making them unusable After finding all of this out I sent Jess a text on her salon phone (pics attached) and the way she reacted was horrifying. No apology. Only blame.. after I sent her my messages she called me and as soon as I answered she started yelling at me and cursing at me. She also threatened my business and said she'll say I ruined her lashes (I have pics to prove that's also a lie) The call was 43 seconds. She then blocked me on all social media. She said that a refund was not an option because I paid for the hair not her service. Not for nothing, I'd never ever pay for her service. However we were bartering services. BUT! She ruined the weft I PAID FOR. (If I broke someone's phone I'd apologize and buy them a new one) she also badly damaged my hair and my scalp.. Again not to mention, she still has some of the hair that I BOUGHT and now i have no way of contacting her because she blocked me on everything!!! I also went to a dermatologist for the irritation on my scalp and showed her all the pictures and was advised to use the treatment stuff I bought and also use peppermint oil. This whole situation was traumatizing and frustrating. Instead of a solution she got defensive and attacked me and my business because she must have been embarrassed or something but she totally avoided my hair situation and attacked me. Shameful for a business owner to handle any situation this way regardless of who the client is. I was advised not to contact her, so I won't. It is what it is at this point but please.... Do your research. I wish I did.
