Food is always great here. As a matter of fact going here tonight to catch the Monday special

So I haven't been in long time. Took advantage of the 3 for $25 May special. After tonight, I highly doubt I'll be back. Place was very warm. The cornbread dressing wasn't right, rice was dry, tomatoes on the salad bar were yellow in the middle and several other things. I know it's food under lamps but still. Then my son had sweet tea and whoever our server was refilled it but couldn't be bothered for more ice. Only thing that was perfect was the orange jello. I left a tip but I honestly didn't want to. read more

Food tasted horrible the napkin holders napkins smelt of mold. Had a roach bug run up the wall at our table. Would no recommend this resturant to anyone. First timer! Heard a lot of talk about this place that cooks southern food. We stopped in for a bite. We were greeted by the cashier and waitress Crystal. Yes she handled the register and serving the customers. The interior of the building is not the best but it's decent. Like most old buildings that possibly was a restaurant has booths and tables. 2 hot bars for meats, veggies, rolls and cornbread. 2 bars for salad and fruit. Ice cream bar or container with strawberry and vanilla flavors. It's a buffet eatery where it's all you can eat . Please come on an empty stomach. A variety of veggies - butter beans, corn, yams, collards, cabbage, etc. I tried the collards they were too sweet. I'm from the South and we do not prepare our collards with sugar at least not a sack full . The corn was delicious- a hint of sugar but not overly sweet. Yams were firm and tasty. Baked & Fried chicken - the fried chicken lacked seasoning but it was ok. Baked chicken was very good! The short thighs were small in which I loved bc the smaller they are they're tender and tasty. I did not try the drumsticks or wings. Fried catfish had a rancid flavor. They're large pieces as well and that could possibly be the reason they had a rancid taste. Fried to perfection though. Peach cobbler was full of crust if you like the crust but it was not sweet at all. Overall it was good and I will be back! I know now what's good and not so good. Will stick to what I know. It's conveniently located off 75 South/North in the Peach shopping plaza (Outlet Mall) . They're open throughout the week including Sunday. read more

Me and my family took my niece for her 8th birthday. Paid 61 dollars and honestly wasn't worth it at all. My fiance got a sweet tea and inside of it was lettuce and a piece of carrot. And when me sister went up there to tell the women at the desk and asked if we could get another tea it took her 15 minutes for her to even bring it. And honestly the store was gross all the tables were nasty we had to clean our own table cause there was no where else to sit and the bathroom look horrifying. read more

Service was good however the food wasn't... I had some green beans and the green beans were tasting like it was pulled straight off the plant and just thrown into a pot. The chicken, sausage, and collard greens were good. But everything else wasn't. They could do better with cooking the food and maybe it could get a higher rating. Disappointed in how the workers will keep empty trays of water on the buffet. 4 times I have come and have seen green bean and collards empty with just the water the greens were cooked in. This Happens hours before closing. Sunday was the worst coming in at 1:30 when the buffet closes at 4pm when I ask if they will restock the buffet attended acts hamstrung and mad that they got caught. When I come here I want some good green vegetables. I really don't want a bunch of rice and potatoes over eating starches aren't good for blood sugar. I will gladly pay more. I don't what the heck happened but I went with previous reviews and I should've just kept driving. I felt bad for even paying to eat the food that was out. Everything & I do mean everything was extremely dry and seemed like it had been under the heat lamp for hours. The chicken was horribly dry and even the baked chicken was so dry u couldn't even hack through it with the knives they had. The place was completely empty and along with myself there was 2 lady's sitting down the row but outside of that it was just the 2 lady's working. I should've asked for a refund but after a few trips up trying to find something I just said screw it and walked out. The food looked good but needed a little seasoning for my taste, and as mentioned before the floors need a deep cleaning and buffing, a restaurant needs to look and be clean, the servers were trying to clean up for the night, but we were offered a second drink (in to-go-cups) before we left, which is always a good thing. The crew is small and they try to keep up, for the hectic work they do, so I'll give them 3 stars for their efforts, but the proprietor should be ashamed of the floor they present to the public, The price is great for the amount of food you could eat ad the selection was decent. read more

Pork chops, fried chicken, baked chicken and chicken livers. Nice meat selection and also veggies and spaghetti. You get gloves when you enter and then fix your plate to go. I was the only one at the bar and then next customer came over when I left. Friendly as always! read more

Normally, 478 buffet is great, but the staff is slacking. On Sunday, July 7, 2024, I arrived at 2:40 PM. They started breaking down the salad bar part of the buffet at 2:5 PM. A lot of the vegetables on the buffet line were completely empty, with just the water that the vegetables were cooked in. Lima beans and green beans were totally out. I asked the waitress if they had any more non-starchy vegetables that they were going to bring out, like green beans, corn, or lima beans, just something that wasn't mashed potatoes or mac & cheese. I was told, "We're starting to shut down, and we're just keeping those in there to fill space on the buffet so there's no empty spots on the steam table." In the back of my mind, I was thinking, "You're still taking in paying customers. It's not even 3 o'clock yet. You close at 4 PM." Then, at 3:10 PM, our waitress walked out to smoke... My wife and I left. Literally, they dismantled the salad bar, and there were absolutely no green vegetables on the buffet, just mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. What about people with sugar sensitivities? They can't have that much starch. Unacceptable, especially when the menu is uploaded on Facebook. The little Hispanic girl looked like she wanted to quit and didn't want to be there; she seemed visibly annoyed she was also blocking access to the salad bar so no one could get a salad. This restaurant has to be the WORST restaurant I think we've ever been to! For a buffet, something that's supposed to have options and a decent selection, this isn't it! Everything tasted like it was worse than instant food. There was nothing my family could even finish it tasted so bad. The most basic mashed potatoes and gravy or mac and cheese you couldn't even eat. They had a couple desserts that were probably brought in that were edible! I would NEVER recommend or go here again! I used to visit this restaurant quite often until the last time I went and a dog was in there eating out of an ice cream bowl. Now, don't get me wrong I have no problem with service dogs. I know they are needed. But, I DO NOT want to see a dog eating out of restaurant bowls that customers eat out of. I mean... Dollar Tree, right down the street has "REAL " dog bowl...$1.25. If I walked in a restaurant and a dog was with it's owner and eating out of a "DOG" bowl...I am fine with that. But, to see a dog eating out of the same bowls that guests eat out...that's NOT ok with me. The manager pretty much said she doesn't care if customers came back because she's going to continue to feed dogs out of the same bowls that customers PAY to use. The furniture is already unstable and dreadful but because most of the waitresses/cooks are nice, I didn't mind. I've eaten here about a year ago and it was just okay, but my brother talked me into going there tonight. I have to say the food was good and the service was great! I'm not easily pleased when it comes to eating out, but everything considered, food selection, taste overall experience, I have to give it a overall rating of GREAT! Perfect place to visit during the emergency. Only 2 customers allowed at a time They give you gloves to wear. They wear gloves. Everything is constantly wiped down. Absolutely super clean. The food was hot and delicious. Super friendly workers with delicious food. We got two meats, two vegetables, and cornbread for $6.99! This is our first visit, but my coworkers rave about it. The food is just ok. The table my family was instructed to sit at was dirty. All of the condiment bottles and the napkin holder were sticky. Be aware that if you go in with 6 or more people there is a 15% service charge added to your bill. DON'T EAT HERE!!! This place is a joke. The heavy set lady behind the counter with all the neck tattoos is horrific. The restaurant was filthy. There were no clean tables anywhere. All the food was cold. When the big woman wiped off a table, she just threw it on the floor. The table we chose had used napkins that were tucked behind the napkin holder that she just left there. Finished 1st and only plate before anyone even brought a drink. Just don't do it!! The health department needs to pay this place a visit!! This was our first trip to 478. It will also be our last. Floor needed sweeping, Buffet had food scattered around the sides. The food itself was not good. The only thing I had that tasted okay was the yams. My husband had the fried chicken and he said it was just alright. Most veggies tasted like they were out of a can, and the bread was hard and not fresh. The food temperature was also another concern. None of our food was hot. I didn't even fix a salad bc the bar was such a mess and no dessert either bc it wasn't fresh. Byron could really use a good buffet and if this place would step it up and have quality food it could be such a nice addition to the community. Sadly that's not the case. read more

Good food, cooked and seasoned well but with a little more attention to quality it could become great. For instance, the cabbage is really good but they don't take extra time to be sure they have pulled the dead leaves from it before it is cooked. Also, they could offer gizzards more often but don't leave them on the steak table so long that they dry out and become hard. Always hate it when they don't have deviled eggs. read more

Nice all you can eat buffet with limited seating and limited on what you can eat. I have eaten here few times before and can't get pick if I like this place or not like this place. We stopped in to have a late lunch and noticed all the meats on the bar were fried. I'm not able to have fried food because of elvevated blood pressure and colesterol problems. We have been to many buffets and they always have at the least one baked meat. Anyway... It was after 2:00 pm and thier were only 3 other customers eating. Before we set down we asked the waitress would it be possible for someone to cook a bonless breast on the grill. She asked the owner in front of us and she said no. Wow! We're we surprised and insulted. The waitress was embarrassed and she apologized to us. . (Needless to say the owner wasn't from this country) We drove a few miles south to Perry, Ga. and ate at the "Oil Lamp" homecoming Restaurant. Awesome food and we were appreciated. Food was mediocre. Stomach was upset afterwards!! Had to have been the cheap box rice they try to pass off as a broccoli rice casserole. Limited selection to choose from. Waitresses just stand around looking bored while gossiping about previous coworkers that supposedly "did nothing but sit on their phones for their whole shift." It should have been apparent to my wife and I that the Mexican restaurant next door had a line out the door for a reason. This place is a poor substitute for a Golden Corral. Food is hit or miss. Selections and quality can vary. Fried chicken and meatloaf are pretty good, fried fish is ok. Vegetables are often over cooked and soggy. Sometimes when we go we wonder how long the food has been out that day due to lower customer traffic. We usually end up here out of convenience or when we want something quick for dinner.
