Well, this has been a rollercoaster! We reached out to 4EVER Remodeling for an estimate regarding two bathroom remodels at our Buena Park condo. It was finally time to trigger a renovation project and my partner, and I were excited to get the ball rolling. Our first meeting with the 4EVER Remodeling representative went well, just like the other vendors we received estimates from (4EVER was our 5th estimate surrounding this project). We went through all renovation details. I also provided a project document that indicated every element of the proposed renovation. Once we finished with the initial meeting and the estimate was received, we decided to work with 4EVER Remodeling on this home project. The vendor representative stopped by again, we went over details again, and the representative read the entire contract and project plan to us, making minor refinements as necessary. We signed and initialed everything in the documentation with the next step being a meeting with the designer along with measurements to begin the project. The design process would take approximately 5 weeks according to the representative. We were truly excited to begin this partnership with 4EVER Remodeling! Less than 24 hours following contract signatures, we received a call from the representative. The vendor decided that they would not make enough money off the project, and we were told that the cost would increase 38% for labor. We were shocked and dismayed. The representative tried to save the deal by deleting some of the work we agreed upon from the contract. "How about using less tile?", "We can lower the price a bit if we do less demo work", "if you lived in Evanston, we could do it at the original price", "you don't have an elevator". 1. The representative was at our condo twice and knew we didn't live in Evanston, (unless he's really bad at geography) 2. The representative was at our condo twice and knew we didn't have an elevator and we were a third-floor walk-up. It was discussed and noted several times 3. Increasing the renovation price by 38% is absurd. The original, 4EVER Remodeling estimate came in at around the same price as two other vendors we received estimates from. We decided to partner with 4EVER Remodeling because we liked how thorough the representative and project plan was. Essentially, if 4EVER Remodeling had their acts together, we would have gladly paid more for the project, but getting the news that the cost would go up 38% for labor AFTER the contract had been signed was ludicrous. Why would I partner with a vendor who can't even get the estimate and contract process correct. 1. You wasted 3.5 weeks of planning to get this project started. Now, we are delayed and starting over again with another vendor. What a waste of time! 2. Your organization should really consider some process improvement initiatives. Hint: when presenting a contract for signatures you should include a firm price. Contracts aren't meant to be fluid agreements for labor. We completely understood that the price may increase depending on finishes chosen during the design process and that price for materials may change as well. 3. How can you be trusted as a vendor when you increase the price on a signed contract less than 24-hours following signatures? The only thing I can agree with is something our representative said. "I'm happy we are changing the price now instead of later". Yes, I'm happy this happened before we became partners in this project, but I would never do business with a vendor like you again. Walking nearby I came across 2 signs for this company in the front yard of houses that had done basement remodeling. I called and scheduled an appointment, one week later Damian came for estimate. The work was impeccable and timely, it is definitely an investment, but he provided financing options. We recently entertained the idea of remodeling our two bathrooms. We started the process with the multiple quotes from different contractors. As a result we Received only two proposals out of five companies that we interviewed. The others didn't provide us with pricing or scope of work for our project. Even more they stoped picking the phone calls form us. The reason we decided to use 4Ever Remodeling for our project is that they were very responsive, provided interior design assistant and offer very good warranty. The plus is that they have open showroom during the days and you can talk to the designers or office personnel if and when you have any questions. Another factor that stood out for us was  4Ever Remodeling was able to provide pricing and scope of work right on the first appointment, explained the next steps and what to expect when we start the process. The sales consultant gave us two options before we went to the next step. First option was to pay flat fee for the whole design and get the prices for all of the finished materials and labor after design is completed.  The other option was to go over the scope of work review detailed scope of work and sign it. As we are not decisive what we wanted,  we went with first options and start with the design as a first step. We paid the flat fee up front for design  and right now we are 4 weeks into the design. We are positively surprise with how quickly and how responsive the whole team is. We already had two appointments at the showroom for reviewing the 3-D rendering plus additional plans as well as material selections. The next step is to finalize the design and receive final proposal with all the details for approval. If no surprises to the price after design compilation we will move forward and start the remodeling project. What we have received so far it looks like it's gonna be very good experience. My husband and I were looking to get 2 bathrooms in our home remodeled. My husband called and was told that 4 Ever Remodeling does not service our area. Needless to say, we were confused seeing that this company remodeled a home across the street from where we live. I decided to go on their website to see the areas. Again, not only do they service the Oak Park area, they also service two surrounding suburbs. I called back to ask why is this and was told that it was because of my area code. I tried telling this company that I was literally one block from the expressway, however 4 Ever Remodeling kept saying, it's the zip code. I felt it was very discriminatory and we shouldn't be judged based on the area code. These guys give contractors a bad name... They promised that, if we paid them $4,000 to complete our cabinet design, they would hold the remainder of the prices in our quote while they prepared the design and credit our $4,000 toward the project. Not so. The day that they (sort of) finished their drawn-out design process, they sent a *new* quote with prices that were MORE THAN than 30% higher for the SAME work. They attempted to justify their actions by claiming that they increased the prices on 29 other customers, 28 of whom let them get away with it and paid them more money. They can't honor their price with anyone and that's supposed to make us feel better??? And they refused to refund our $4,000. Any honest business would have done at least that much given their flat refusal to honor their deal. read more
