Okay so let me start by saying that we had a very difficult area to build a pergola. Irregular shape and size. We also have very particular aesthetic tastes and wanted something very high end looking, which is why we went with the 4K system. Yoel the owner/contractor was very personable and easy to get a hold of. Unfortunately we did have some difficult bumps along the way with the construction and delays. And as frustrating as it was, I can honestly say that Yoel kept his word, and ultimately we walked away feeling like he really cared and wanted to do the best he could for us in a challenging situation. Yelp is my trusty go to for finding contractors, tradespeople and restaurants etc. And though it's nice to see all 5 star perfect reviews I also look for reviews that say even through a turbulent and bumpy ride during construction that the contractor had ethics and stood by his word. Overall we are so impressed with the product. We had been wanting to do a carport for years (as the sun hits directly our 2 cars in the driveway and our old LA home doesn't have a garage). After getting quotes and design ideas from a few companies (shades or old-fashioned wood pergola design), I came across an add for 4K Patios in an at home mailer and their pergolas/carport were the most beautiful design options I had seen in an ad. And after having it installed a few weeks back I can easily say it looks as good in reality as the ad. We are quite happy with it. It has easily cooled down our cars 30 degrees and putting kid in car and taking groceries out is so much easier when you're sweating like crazy. Though it is a bit pricey, we are super happy with 4K's beautiful pergola and now I actually regret not being able to have more of their pergolas in my backyard. I must add that it wasn't always the smoothest of processes. I originally contacted Joe in December 2021 and we had the frame installed in January but the roof was delayed several months (for a variety of reasons) until June. As part of our complete backyard remodeling project, we shopped around for a pergola and talked to multiple vendors. We have high winds in our area of Thousand Oaks and wanted a patio cover that not only looks great, but can withstand the heavy winds. We found out that 4K patio covers can withstand winds up to 170 mph, which is exactly what we needed. The company installed recessed lights so we can enjoy nights with light under the pergola. My 23-year-old wood pergola was so infested with termites, it was leaning.  A structural engineer evaluated it and recommended tearing it down and replacing it. I've thought about writing this review for a while. I waited for the dust to settle on my project and for my construction emotions to fade. The project itself is complete and was built to spec and os everything we expected. The problems I experienced came in the communication and the responsibility of the job. At nearly every stage of the project where we experienced a delay, I got a ton of excuses from Joe that got wilder over time. At one point, when I was assured materials would be delivered on a certain day, he sent me a video of a horrific car crash as some sort of proof of the delay. I could not believe what I was seeing. Aside from that, each delay coincided with some holiday or an out of country vacation. I'm sure you can catch the drift. The final straw for me was when the subs Joe hired to install the rough electric to the lights and fan in our pergola did not connect the wires correctly. When the lights were constantly tripping , Joe and his team accused my longtime electrician of fumbling the job. When it was discovered that it was his error for not hiring an electrician at all, he offered no apology and had to completely take apart the pergola to fix the mistake. The final product is something I love. Getting there was a ride. read more
