This is nearly criminal, but, unfortunately it is just incompetence. It seemed like they knew what they were doing, until the delivery didn't happen and I checked the label, which had some random address in Long Beach instead of the Texas based passport office in it. Really frustrated with this place. I paid to have an important package shipped and it never even got sent out. When I checked the tracking, it showed no movement at all. I contacted customer service several times, and completely useless answers. This delivery was time-sensitive, and their lack of follow-through caused me a ton of stress and inconvenience. Twice I have gone into 4th street postal to return items (one UPS and one USPS). I have requested a receipt of return so that I can ensure my return is tracked. The first time (the UPS package) I was told they don't do receipts for UPS. Ok, I guess that makes sense. I brought it down to UPS and they provided me a receipt. The 2nd time (USPS prepaid) I was told more generally "I don't do receipts." Now it feels like either a technological problem (unlikely) or am unwillingness to provide what's generally regarded as a basic service. I'm sure it's annoying but it builds customer trust and leads me back to the store when I ship something. If it's a tech problem, then create a workaround for your customers. In general the customer service here has not been the same since the business changed hands. Unfortunate but luckily there are literally 5 other nearby places that do the exact same job (with better business hours as well). read more

After having a mailbox here for two years, this is my experience. Special thanks to Jeremy, you can tell he cares about the customers and employees. He works hard to make sure things run smoothly, and they do. My packages were always received safely and handled with care from tiny little things from Etsy to a battery for my car!! I got my passport photo updated here, mailed packages and purchased stamps. I always received an email when something was delivered so I knew when to go pick it up. If you have a mailbox here, the crew get to know you and this creates picking up packages flawless. I always felt like I was in good hands having all my packages sent here. I moved out of LB but I highly recommend this place. I lived in a loft in Long Beach where I couldn't have packages delivered safely, 4th street postal really came through for me during the pandemic too! Man, they used to be so good? Did they change ownership? I had them print a label (just print from computer not like fancy on a sticker label) to ship a USPS flat rate box. It cost me 1.49. On top of that I tipped them for packing my thing at the end. I dropped it off on 10/15 and the mailman had also come in and was moving boxes to his truck. Not sure if my box didn't make a cut but it wasn't shipped out until 10/17. It's disappointing when I'm shipping something to a customer and it's delayed like that. Next time, I'll print the label at work and just go straight to the post office. read more

I have not been there in quite awhile and things have definitely changed. I needed to reroute a FedEx package there. I chose them late at night while on the Internet because they are closest and an official FedEx shipper, and I needed to provide an alternate address. When I went to pickup my package, the day after it was delivered, I had to endure a stern lecture from them not to use their services without telling them first because they would have no way of contacting me. Well, both the shipper and FedEx tracking notified me of the delivery, and they had already called the shipper to nag me to come get my package. They charged $5 to hand me my package and did not check ID or FedEx number. I used to print resumes and color stuff there and appreciated the friendly vibe with the two owners. This place has really gone downhill since the original owner sold it. As soon as you walk in the vibe is uncomfortable, and you get the sense that they can't wait until you leave. I was a loyal customer for 3+ years, but since the ownership change took place, I found myself not wanting to go and pick up my packages anymore. Which , of course, led to them being unhappy with me too. And while they were right to be upset with me for leaving my packages there for a long period of time, they seem to be completely unaware of the unpleasant vibe that they've created in that place. It's not just the vibe either. The quality of the service has also declined. Very early on when they took over I would show up to pick something up, and at that point they still had not developed a system to keep track of everything coming in (which is understandable- to a point) and they would very harshly simply say "well, it's not here". Another time they insinuated that I shouldn't come to pick anything up until they had a chance to log everything. This was several HOURS after the package was delivered. Eventually they did improve their process, but to me the issue was the atrocious attitude. Had they just said "sorry, we are new to this" , i would've said "no problem, i'll come back later". Unfortunately every interaction with them is so weird and uncomfortable... they create the feeling like they are doing you a favor. All of this was made worse by covid 19. Because of covid, only 2 customers can be inside at a time.... perfectly understandable. However, when you're outside sometimes you can't see if there's people inside and how many. But don't you DARE open the door to take a look, because they will angrily tell you to "WAIT OUTSIDE PLEASE", as if you're an a-hole trying to break the rules. After such an uncomfortable exchange, once you're finally inside, you can try to make small talk and joke around to lighten the mood... but they won't have it. To them, we are all their enemies, and they are just tolerating us. Trully a disgrace read more

I used to use this place for all my postal needs and everyone there was friendly and helpful. The last few times I've went in there is one older guy who just seems to make everything difficult. I taped one package and left the other open because sometimes they have suggestions on the box or the way it's packaged. He then hassles me over the dollar for the few inches of tape and then continues to remind me of the 5 dollar minimum for a card. I will not be going there anymore. Ashamed because I like to support the local businesses. read more

It would be 5 stars but they have few inconvenient limitations. I have a PO Box here and that part is great. Also, I typically bring them my shipping business to support them instead of the post office. But they are old school mom pop which I love- but no tap payments and $5 minimum for card payments. I do not carry cash or cards because everywhere else I go accepts tap. I made two trips here today and still left without mailing my package . They are a little more pricey than the post office but I don't mind. But for future shipping I'll just go back to the post office on 2nd. They are great as long as there is no line. (Unless I remember ahead of time to bring the proper accepted payments). read more

Absolutely shocked at the level of unprofessionalism at this location. I was yelled at for correcting the address that the male employee erroneously entered into their system. He was condescending to me and all other patrons while I was at the store. He made fun of an elderly man who forgot to place a stamp on his envelope, scoffed when a customer entered to open their own mailbox, and rudely hung up on customer who called because he was too busy to answer their question. Didn't say goodbye -- just hung up on the person after telling them to call back in an hour. The other female employees were also rude, and gave sideways glances to every customer that entered. They seem to care little about the service they provide, and based on the other reviews here, they demonstrate a pattern of indifference and disdain for the work they do. Beware. I would not come here. I cannot believe how rude the owner of this establishment is. I'm new to renewing my passport and was very confused on how the whole thing works. Instead of helping me, he basically was phrasing things in a way like how do you not know that and making me feel and look stupid. It was utterly atrocious. 4th Street postal used to be a place where you were greeted with friendly smiles by the owner Michelle and all her wonderful employees. All that has changed since the new owners took over. The new owner, a man with dangling earrings and the demeanor of a disgruntled DMV worker was offputting the moment I walked in. I was the 2nd person he was short with in the 5 mins I was there. When he got to me he was rude and even condescending. I've been coming here for years and always had nothing but amazing experiences, when I moved further away I would drive past other post offices to come here to support a friendly family business. When you walk in everything looks the same but the vibe feels different, that's because this is nothing more than drab post office now. I can only hope some new owners will take over in the future so this place can be what it once was. A tip to the owner: If your having a bad day dont take out on your loyal customers. read more

Came here to print 10 copies of a resume, however when the prints finished the paper was not resume paper as asked in the beginning and we noticed the paper kept printing blue triangles in the corner . When we asked the manager he was rude and stated " Well I printed all the copies already & we tried to explain yes you printed all 10 copies but didn't let us see one to verify it looked ok . When we explained we didn't like the triangles nor the paper it was on as we clearly asked for resume paper, we were told from the manager " actually I can't print anything for you . Absolutely rude I get it if it was our mistake but clearly he had trouble following instructions if someone says resume paper we don't want regular computer paper LOL word of advice to the manager work on your people skills , maybe throw a smile and your day may turn around !! read more

Even though she was busy, she was still very friendly and welcoming. I had a UPS package I needed mailed that day with a receipt, both of which it was too late for (the UPS guy was gone for the day and only UPS store can provide receipt)... but she still helped me wrap my package, answered my questions, and told me exactly where to go. They are the best! USPS on Anaheim suck, out of the box on redondo is terrible. I don't know why I haven't come here long time ago. My husband always says good thing about this place. I just always go to out of the box cuz it's convenient being in main road but I can't take there no more. They are unprofessional, rude and racist. Save your self times come to 4th. I meant serious I was at out of the box for 30 mins and they just have me waiting while the lady chit chat with her friend on the phone about nothing. It took me 2 mins to get mail out at 4th. Had to get a passport photo at the beginning of the year and this spot was open and had decent reviews. Bad choice. I waited in line for quite a while and after my photo was taken I looked at it and was worried it was way too blurry. I expressed my concern a few times and each time the person who snapped my photo assured me it was fine and that he ran it through the system and kept showing me the green bars that supposedly proved it would be accepted. Well - shoulda listened to my gut because the photo was rejected and it was a huge pain in the patoot to get another photo somewhere else and get it to the state department. Other services might be fine but NEVER get a passport photo. read more

Uh.... hell nope!!! I miss Michelle!!!! I've been going there for years!!! It just dawned on me earlier in 2020 that Michelle sold it... I was extremely disappointed but was still going because I live around the corner and the Post Office is usually always busy. Today I was like yeah no, I'll suffer through the Post Office line to avoid rudeness. A female employee made a mistake and put one wrong number for the address I was shipping too, the box was sent back to me. I wasn't even tripping but definitely didn't expect to pay for postage again since it wasn't my fault. I went in and explain the situation. I usually give my phone to them so they can look at the address, but it's Covid and wanted to avoid all that. Immediately, the guy was giving me attitude! Really? I was cool and calm, just wanted the issue to be fixed and go about my day. "Well, it's store policy for customers to check the address and take a picture, did you do that?" "Who was the employee that was helping you?? What did she look like??" I feel sorry for the employee.. I wasn't even trying to throw her under the bus, it's a mistake! And she didn't ask me to take a picture, didn't even think nothing of it, was in a rush. Second issue was an employee not knowing what to do... I went in to ship something and she kept changing the price! "Oh, sorry, it's actually this..." "oh no, it's really this price" ??? Really y'all... get it together. My mom stop mailing stuff from there awhile ago and said the atmosphere is off and not friendly, but no I see what she means. Plus they charge more anyway.
