We are lucky to have this company in town. Many of us have to work from home and do not have the usual office equipment, technicians or all the things most companies have. Jim and his team are great and helpful. Now that gas is so expensive it is very nice to have something so close to us. I meant to send this a few years ago but feel the same today. They are very helpful and they go above and beyond for help with legal documents and the notary involved. They have helped me deal all the legal paper work after my father died, getting a passport for friend and even helped me take pictures of items I was returning to an ex since I was using the shipping and it didnt occur to me and that type of experience and help is beyond just shipping! read more

Not sure why anyone would ever truly desire to go anywhere but here for their shipping, mailing, packaging or random impulse shopping needs. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate this place and business management. Every time we've gone in, the gentleman is more than cordial and accommodating. We unfortunately were in a bind last time and had to rush and arrived 5 minutes before closing (which we never want to do to poor workers on a Friday evening), but the experience yielded a fast, fun and friendly outcome and for this we are truly grateful. Here is a story that's sad but true. I just went to Send It Packing because I wanted to support a local business owner even though The UPS Store across the street is closer to my house. I walked in and asked if I could print 1 half page document for my daughter's school so I didn't have to drive all the way to my office in Newport Beach. Upon finishing my question this local business owner, in a very abrasive manner, said "$5 plus the paper". I said ok, but mentioned "that's pretty expensive, but I guess that's just the price we pay to support our local businesses." Apparently he didn't appreciate my constructive criticism as he got ruder and ruder throughout the transaction until he sent me packing for $5.38 plus a 19¢ service charge. Upon returning to my vehicle, just for the fun of it, I decided to call The UPS Store across the street and asked how much it would've cost me to print my document there. They said $1. Here's the moral of the story, I love supporting our local businesses and I'm willing to pay a little extra to do so. But if I am going to pay that little extra to support you, pretty please try to be polite. Remember who keeps you in business... us, your local customers! read more

They sure sent me packing.... With a new job requiring overseas shipments weekly, I very much wanted to support a local small business for my shipping needs. The associate helping me with my shipment lacked proper training in general. We spent 15 minutes getting it set up in the computer, and when I provided my business FedEx account number, she realized she needed me to fill out a hand-written form instead...and she ultimately gave me the wrong shipping form. Later that evening, Jim left a voicemail informing me I'd filled out the wrong form (domestic instead of international), and needed to come back, as my package was not shipped and my paperwork was wrong and incomplete. All fine, mistakes happen. Especially when staff doesn't know what they are doing. However, Jim's condescending tone did it for me. Get over yourself. Train your people. You just lost a good account. Over to FedEx I go, where the rates are better and the customer service is exceptional. read more

We were there to get a couple of photos laminated. Without even asking us how we like to laminate (I.e. vertically, horizontally, photo upright the edge or center in the middle) just laminated. We made a dissatisfying comment he comment that we didn't indicate it. Whatever happened to customer service. We also felt biased treatment by this man will never return here again. When we walked into Send It Packing and the owner was sitting at a computer, he got up right away and asked how he could help. I said I need to send a FEDEX. He asked in an exasperated tone " well what do u need, an envelope a box what?" I said envelope. I said that I had a pre printed address slip on my phone for the envelope, he said "well it's $5 to use the computer" This gentleman couldn't be bothered to serve his customer. There were zero customers in the store at the time no line no phone ringing. So I walked out and am driving 2 miles to another place of business. Sad. When I got to the closest Fed Ex it cost me 14 cents to print out the address label with very good service as well. Send it Packing is a local shop in a very small town Seal Beach. It's too bad that this store has such a bad reputation for service as when people want to support their local business ( especially at this time) I suggest you drive and go somewhere else. read more

I'm sorry to see so many negative reviews on this location. I have been coming here since Jim has bought the place and went to the TShirt and candy shop he owned prior to this. Jim is a great person. Barbara is also super nice. They are always willing to help out with whatever you need done. This is a business focused store, and not a nail salon or restaurant. They will help with what you need and give you honest opinions and answers. It's extrememly funny to read that someone thinks the scales are tipped....it's illegal and if you look on the scales, there is a seal. All scales have to be certified annually. The service is always great and when I need special services, like dropping mail off at Christmas, I don't have to wait in line, I have an account and my mail is always taken care of for me after i drop it off. There is always a great selection of gifts that is so helpful when you don't have time to shop. They will even wrap for you =) Great service with a smile. Great products. Sorry to have to review this business with a 1 star, but I can't think of a better example of a business that deserves it. Today, after three years supporting this business I went in to copy a catalog that I thought was a few (10 pages), but after hitting "print" found out it was 155 pages. I immediately noticed the mistake, alerted the owner, and canceled the print-job on the computer. It confirmed, "Print 155 pages Canceled." I asked him if the printer had stopped and he said, "yes, it just printed this one sheet." He then went to check the printer and after cleaning several stuck pages of paper, the copier then started copying the catalog. I asked that he stop the printer, but he said he couldn't. I don't know, but honestly it didn't look to me like he knew how. He just kept hitting a button over and again. Nonetheless, he said in a flipped way, "this is going to cost you." Well buddy, you betcha it did! A mistake that he will knew was a mistake cost me $88, plus a service fee of $3.11, of which I have no idea what service he provided. So, a clear mistake that could have been stopped or at the least overlooked cost me $92 bucks today. No matter, this didn't break me and no big deal, I say. It cost him a future loyal customer. Hidden fees and they yell at you. I waited to send my box FedEx. All I needed was the form to fill out and some tape. He yelled at me when I reached for the tape on the table and then he gave me one small piece of tape for a large box and charged me $1. I was shipping a laptop. I plan on reporting this place to FedEx for not assisting in sending packages properly. Overall very bad vibes. This guy must be broke to be charging $1 per small piece of tape. And dont get me started on how much they try to charge you to use the computer...very high fees to use the computer and print. read more

During this virus pandemic, people are on edge. It's a stressful time for everyone. I had some documents that I needed to have notarized on a vehicle I had donated to the Vietnam Vets, a charity close to my heart. They had dropped the ball on things that needed to be done and returned important DMV documents to me that had to be notarized. I called Jim from my office because I felt comfortable dealing with someone that I know. Their hours have been changed because of the virus but he was nice enough to wait for me and get everything notarized, in addition to speaking with the lady on the phone from Vietnam Vets to make sure we did the documents correctly. It meant the world to me. I wasn't going to get this kind of service at another UPS store. I've been shopping in that Seal Beach Center for over 35 years and everyone there knows me and it was comforting that when I picked up the phone to call Jim today, he told me to come in and he would help me. People need to realize that we are all suffering during this stressful time and we have to be there for each other and Jim did that for me today. read more

I've been coming here forever. The owner and the two ladies that work here are very knowledgeable and super friendly. They do all things mail related, and If you need something packaged for shipment they'll do that too. They also shred documents in-house; have copy machines, and sell boxes and stationary supplies. I feel the pricing for these supplies and services are very reasonable. The owner is also a notary, and has witnessed the signing of many of our legal documents, including once when he left the store to travel to Leisure World to witness a signing by a relative of my wife who was to ill to travel. I used to like this place quite a bit. Friendly people, helpful services, but then they started tacking on an added fee to handle UPS shipments. They'll tell you that it's part of the service (implying that it's required), but few places around actually do this. Go to a UPS store. They will not charge you extra. Go to that great little place around the corner from Trader Joes in Long Beach off 2nd street. They will not charge you. This is just a money grab on the part of the people who run this place. I used to like this place quite a bit, but the greed is starting to show. Try being less greedy and more helpful in the future. Update - I have concerns about sending faxes in this store, too. I asked them to send a fax a while back for a family member that had some medical information on it. Well, a couple weeks later, that family member went into this store and got a few questions about her well-being and health in general. We're a private family and don't share much about ourselves with neighbors, so the only way they could have known about her condition was through this fax. Maybe they were just being polite and expressing interest in her well-being out of the goodness of their hearts, but I somehow doubt it. I'm sure the photo will be taken down as it isn't in the shop's best interest. Also, Barbara and/or Jim have personally sought out where I work and Barbara confronted me at my place of business while I was with my guest. Her intention may have been to apologize, but this came off as unprofessional and created an uncomfortable situation for both my guest and myself. This is weird! I've been using this place for about 5 years now and I can't believe all the negative reviews! Something is wrong here. I will tell you what is wrong here. Last year, I gave a 5-star review, and when I came back today, my review has been deleted! I also noted that a lot of other positive reviews are missing! Why does YELP do this? I use this place because it is convenient. I hate going to the post office in downtown because of the lack of street parking. Of course this place charges more for postage than the post office...it's a business! Convenience stores like 7-11s charge you more than a supermarket. Why? You pay for the convenience. It's Business 101. Last year when I was in the store, a guy with anger management problems came in. He wanted to ship a large package and he gave the owner an incorrect shipping number. Jim said he couldn't ship because the number didn't register. The customer started arguing in front of me! I was so angry because I was waiting to be served, and this jerk was monopolizing my time, as well as Jim's! The guy called the Seal Beach Police! A cop came down, talked to each of them separately, then took the irate customer outside, and the guy left. When you manage a store, believe me, you get all kinds of customers, including jerks. This guy was a complete jerk!!! As for this place charging you to drop off a package, please read Jim's explanation. They charge him for picking up, so he has to pass this cost on to his customers.
