I needed a notary so I came here. Not sure why they have negative reviews, but I received excellent service! The staff was super friendly and nice, maybe that's because I had my pup in a backpack with me. He generates a lot of interest lol But seriously, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. They greeted everybody that came in. They notarized my document quickly, and I was done in under 10 minutes. The place has things you need like cards and cute little knick knack gifts. I am so impressed with the level of full-service at The Mailbox on P.C.H. at the Marketplace right by Trader Joe's. I have a mailbox rental here and they also take care of my outgoing mail or when I need to send a package. I am able to receive packages that might otherwise be left on my doorstep in Long Beach and could disappear and I just pick them up on my way home from work-it's perfect. So I'm relieved knowing that my mail and my deliveries are secure. Every year around tax season I drop off tons of shredding it's unbelievable how much stuff accumulates and the price for shredding is completely reasonable and since I've been using them for more than 10 years I trust them too. OK and I just have to mention their gift shop! Completely unique gifts and cards, I'm not much of a mall shopper and I love to support Robin and her small business I want them to stick around pretty much forever so I can't say enough good things about her business! read more

The Mail Box is charging extra (credit card processing fees) and not listing those charges on their receipts. So... I received a receipt for $212, but I was actually charged $219.47. My main issue here is that my receipt does not reflect what I was actually charged. That is for a 6 month mailbox rental, mind you. Oh and that was with a "free month" thrown in. I know what the laws are in California, and I do know that TECHNICALLY you are not allowed to charge credit card service fees. I also know that this law has been challenged, and it will probably not be easily enforced. For the record, I believe that most businesses should be allowed to charge whatever they want, as long as those fees are clearly listed and reflected on the receipts provided to the customer. There is a TINY little sign posted on the counter about this fee, but I thought it pertained to shipping costs, and not to me, since it was not mentioned and nowhere listed on my receipt. I have no doubt that others have gone in and made purchases with their cards and not stopped to see the discrepancy in the accounting. It is deceptive. I would have been happy to quietly resolve this with the business owner, but he has refused to refund the total amount of my purchase. I was actually willing to rent a mailbox from him at prices that are much higher than other locations, simply because I wanted to support my community, and I love this shopping center and it is convenient for me. They are already charging a premium for their services, and then nickel and diming on top of that. I just couldn't let this one go. Buyer beware. read more

I called and asked to speak to Mary, not knowing there was a new owner. When I asked who the new owner was, they hung up on me. I guess new business is not really their thing. .... And now either his employee who's answered the phone lied to him or, and more likely he is lying. Sad. Good luck with that. read more

The previous owner has sold the business, and I find the new owner and staff to be 100% competent, friendly and responsive, and I feel so valued as a client. Man, I hate to write this review, but I was really disappointed the other day. I am a regular customer (personal and business needs both) at The Mail Box. I was mailing a thank you card that was a bit small to pass through the mail, so they offered me a larger envelope to put it in. I thanked them, moved the stamp, addressed the new envelope, and put my small note inside. Then when my totals for multiple items were read back to me, they charged me $2.50 for the envelope! A) That's pretty steep for ONE plain white envelope. B) She gave it to me without mentioning a price implying it was a courtesy. C) I wasn't told the price until after I already wrote on it and sealed it up. Sorry Mail Box, but you bombed in customer service that day. read more

I reluctantly came to this place for mailbox services when Sign, Seal and Deliver closed in Belmont shore. It's actually a little closer to home so it hasn't been bad at all, I just resisted the change. I've had nothing but great service from the staff here. I mostly just pick up packages and mail, but there have been a few times that I have needed things copied, faxed, packed, and Internationally mailed and they made it really easy. Robin is always very friendly and polite, and I love it the days that I see Cooper there. Their e-mail/text service lets you know when you have a package, and it even tells you who it's from. Occasionally I'll call in and ask them to check my box for something I'm expecting (so I don't have to make the trip there) and they always oblige. Great place, would definitely recommend. read more

I'm a longtime customer of The Mail Box (since before Robin bought the business) and the thing that keeps me coming back is the level of personal service they give to each of their customers. They know my kids, so I can send in a kid or two to retrieve the mail if I'm stuck in the car with the baby. They've stayed late for me when I HAD to pick up a package and was running late. A great little postal place in the Marketplace (where I work) behind Jimmy's fish market. The owner, Robin is really nice, she always knows my name, even when I don't have my name tag on. They fax, and ship, and copy and have a great selection of cute gift stuff. I had to fax some paperwork yesterday, and it wasn't going through, so they came into my work to talk to me about it! Kind of a weird vibe here. I called ahead of time to see if notary was there and person on the phone said yes. When I got there, she apparently stepped out to buy stamps and wouldn't be back for 15 minutes. I had 3 documents to notarize and one requiring 2 witnesses. The first employee told me witness signatures were free. When I went to pay for everything, she charged me the same price for the witnessed document as the notarized document. I told her the other employee said it would not cost but she insisted that they do charge. Why didn't she tell me up front!? read more

The Mail Box is the best place to ship packages, send faxes and get notaries. Way better than going to a UPS store or the Post office, where the service is horrible and you can tell the workers hate their jobs. Robin and her daughter Brooke, who own and operate the business are always friendly and will even check your box for you if you call in (post office WILL NOT do that). They have a good variety of cards and other gifts, as well as delicious KettleCorn. My husband and I had a need for a notary so I went to yelp and found The Mail Box. They were great, totally helped us decipher our paperwork and at only $10 a signature, its a great price.
