We were in town for a short time and I wanted to hit some of the local record stores. We were in Beaverton and Yelp led us to 503. It's in a nice area with restaurants and stuff. It's not real big but they have a live music area inside. The owner is really great we had a nice time taking with him for a bit. They have a great bargain area that I bought quite a bit from. Great little shop. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Good selection of new and used for the space they're workin with. I've gotten great recommendations from the owner Aaron and found some real used gems at affordable prices right next to brand new releases. Great range and a constantly rotating selection means there's something for everyone from the gay pop girlies (me) to the punk rock dads (my brother in law lol). When you arrive at 503 Records you're met with a lovely array of FREE records to choose from outside - what a great welcome! When you head inside there's records jammin and a big smile on Aaron's (the owner) face and a friendly conversation. There's a growing selection of titles and great choices for someone who just opened 6 months ago. I found some perfect ones for just a few bucks and was pleased with what I got. Want to know what could make the place an even further inviting and hoppin haunt for audiophiles to frequent?! Consider starting a podcast radio show where in addition to playing music, folks could call in with stories about their favorite albums, artists...maybe even themed episodes. It could foster a real sense of community around those who love vinyl! Host live shows where people (esp members) could come by and join in on the fun or patrons could even share their own stories when they drop in. Have special perks for members too and expand the merch (GREAT logo!). I'm newer to record collecting but I can tell you two things: 1) I have found a literally entire new world of appreciation for music - songs and artists I've known my whole life but once I put the needle on for the first time an entirely new dimension opened up. And, 2) vinyl heads are desperately needing more community to share their mutual love - especially locally! Oh, and 3: if we're buying records we have disposable income (and time) and certainly put our money when we see worthwhile investments. Just my two cents. read more

We have visited twice now and each time what great selections. Aaron was able to give us recommendations based off the records we picked up and was right on cue with what we like. We were able to get a record day vinyl that is super rare. One thing I really enjoy about this cute shop is that the selection is limited, but really thoughtfully curated. The owner of the store is very kind and has great stories about the records that he has around the store. Even for how small the shop is, it has a very great selection to choose from. The price for each record was great as well. Most are in the range of 30-40 dollars, which for some of the records found here is a very great price.
