I work with my hands for a living, and my nails genuinely needed proper cleaning and prep before tips were applied. Instead, I found myself having to repeatedly ask for basic prep work while being made to feel uncomfortable for speaking up. The tips were then applied with excessive glue/product underneath the nails, leaving thick chunks underneath that make the nails difficult to properly clean. When I expressed concern, I was told the glue "had to be there" to make the nails strong. I have been getting my nails done for decades and have never had a technician argue with me for not wanting large globs of hardened glue underneath my nails. When I said I wanted to stop the service, I was told "let me fix it," but the issues were never actually corrected. The nail lengths and shapes were inconsistent, the filing/shaping was uneven, and there were visible imperfections, debris, and rough edges throughout the work. I also had concerns about sanitation. The UV lamp being used appeared dirty and damaged, and the drill/e-file bits looked visibly unclean between clients, which made me increasingly uncomfortable during the appointment. Gabby was the only Stylist available last minute, but it worked in my favor. I was lucky to get an appointment within two hours for a blowout. I kinda miss the turn, so ended up parking on the street, but there is parking in the plaza lot that they are in. But otherwise there is plenty of street parking for free along Olive Avenue. Gabby is so sweet, and although I don't mind a heavy-handed Stylist, she is very gentle. The whole experience was very relaxing and satisfied with my end result. My only complaint and the reason I gave only four stars is, I didn't love the shampoo bowls. They don't have the rubber neck support in the bowls, and I just felt like I kept sliding down in the chair and it made me think too hard and not be able to enjoy the shampooing experience. I will definitely come back to see her on these days that I am feeling lazy. I just want to be pampered a little bit. I ended up having her flat iron as well. Blowout alone was $65 and with flat iron was $80 total.

In 2016 I came to this salon to have my hair dyed red professionally. Went to them for about 2…read moreyears, and they changed my formula every appointment (inconsistent color every time). I didn't complain about it at the time because it wasn't a big deal to me. The salon owner, Sai, is a nice person and fun to talk to. She told me to come to her for color correction if I ever wanted to go back to my natural blonde. I started dyeing my hair red with henna in 2018 because it was way cheaper and healthier for my hair than chemical dye, so I didn't come back to color lounge. I also found a vintage hair stylist and started seeing her regularly instead (personal preference). She retired from doing hair during the pandemic, and I needed someone to do my hair...so in 2021 I went back to blonde after about a year of zero henna applications. The hairdresser who got me to blonde again in 2021 moved away, so I went back to henna for less than 2 years. I decided to go back to blonde for good in August 2023, so I contacted Sai & gave my hair history. She said no problem, we can start your transition back to blonde with minimal damage. I was quoted a 6 hour appointment and would be charged an hourly rate--when all was said and done, I was at the salon from 9am-9pm and was charged $1,800. I was not happy at the end of the appointment, but I just wanted to go home...I felt obligated to tip 20% because of the time Sai & her assistant spent, so in total I spent $2,300. I wanted to cry leaving the appointment. How do you tell someone who spent 12 hours working on your hair that you don't like it? The real disappointment sank in when I felt/saw/realized how damaged my hair was...it was breaking off any time I touched it or brushed/styled it. It has taken over 12 months to regain any semblance of hair health, and no thanks to Color Lounge. I asked Sai after my appointment if we could do some kind of professional deep conditioning, mask, or treatment to help repair the damage and she said "just buy the redken acidic bonding line" and offered nothing else in the way of recovery or assistance. Needless to say, that was my last appointment at color lounge.

I paid $620 total (including a 15% tip, $540 before tip) for a balayage and haircut, which felt extremely high--especially considering the haircut alone was only $80. During the appointment, the experience itself was uncomfortable. Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.
