I want to share my full experience at Glamourax because while some things were amazing, there were also challenges with my hair appointment that other clients should know about. I had an appointment on Saturday at Glamourax for hair and makeup before a gala. I was scheduled for 12:30pm for Hollywood waves and makeup. When I originally scheduled my appointment, there was a text exchange with Arax (the manager/owner) where she told me, "The girl who's really good at it is available at 12:30." She also confirmed that Sonna would be my hairstylist. Because of that, I felt confident booking the appointment and trusted I would be getting the Hollywood waves style I requested. For transparency, I will be attaching screenshots of the text messages from when the appointment was scheduled. When I arrived, Sonna was very sweet and kind. I showed her a photo of the Hollywood waves I wanted and trusted that she knew how to achieve that style. During the process there was a lot of hairspray and heat while curling, but I didn't question it because another client next to me was also getting Hollywood waves by a different stylist and her hair looked beautiful, so I assumed everything was going as expected. Unfortunately, when my hair was finished it looked like tight curls everywhere and nothing like the Hollywood waves in the photo I showed. For reference, my hair is medium length, a little past my shoulders, and the tight curls made it appear much shorter than it actually is. Sonna tried brushing the curls out after I mentioned a concern, but it still didn't resemble the style I had asked for. I was then moved to makeup, and I have to say the makeup artist Supo was AMAZING. She checked in with me during every step, asked if I liked what she was doing, and had me look in the mirror throughout the process to make sure I approved. I absolutely loved my makeup and would happily go back to her again if I ever need my makeup done. I left the salon feeling confused and unhappy about my hair, especially since I was getting ready for a gala. I'm not great with confrontation and didn't want to offend Sonna because she was genuinely kind, so I didn't speak up as much as I probably should have in the moment. After I left, I decided to call and see if anything could be done. Arax called me back quickly and was very responsive. I explained that it wasn't about a refund -- I just needed my hair fixed before my event that evening. She tried to see if anyone was available and even offered to pay for me to go somewhere else when the salon was fully booked, which I appreciated. Eventually they were able to have me come back in and two stylists helped me redo my hair. They were very kind and did their best to help on short notice. I ended up with beach waves instead of Hollywood waves, but it looked much better and I was grateful they made the effort to help before my event. While I was there the second time, one stylist sitting behind me seemed visibly frustrated and was staring at me throughout the appointment, which made the situation feel a bit uncomfortable. However, the two stylists who helped redo my hair were kind and professional, and I appreciated them taking the time to help. I also want to mention that Arax was incredibly kind and attentive throughout the whole process. She continued texting with me even after I left the salon the second time to check in and make sure everything turned out okay. I even sent her photos of my final look because I was happy with how everything came together in the end. That level of care and follow-up meant a lot. The salon itself has a really fun atmosphere, it honestly felt like being part of a big glam party while everyone was getting ready, and most of the staff were friendly and welcoming. My only recommendation would be to make sure the stylist assigned is comfortable with the specific style you're requesting. Since I had been told the stylist was "really good" at Hollywood waves, I had high expectations and was excited for that look for the gala. Overall, I appreciated Arax trying to make things right and I truly loved the makeup Supo did. I just wish the hairstyle I originally requested had been achieved. read more

As a first timer, I chose this salon based off the high ratings. My stylist, Marina, was also mentioned in good reviews, so I had high expectations. My experience fell short with Marina. Right from the beginning, she repeatedly chuckled at how much grey hair I have. As a 30-year old, I'm not easily offended but I just wanted to point out her unprofessionalism. I'm not even going to go in detail about the tension between Marina and the assistant while they were doing my hair nor how Marina repeatedly walked away mid-service to chat with others. The main issue is that I asked for dark brown hair, but I left with jet black hair. After washing off the dye and seeing how black it is, Marina kept exaggerating how good the color looked (which felt so insincere) and that it would fade after 3-4 washes - but after 2 months, it's still black! The biggest disappointment is with the owner, Arax. SHE reached out to ME to keep her "posted on how the color last" and how she has "notes & pictures recorded for next time" (which now just seems like a copy/paste technique to get a 5* rating and not an actual sincere message). After replying to her stating my hair is still black, she offered a "free or deeply discounted service." After asking for availability she basically ghosted me. It seems like she's only responsive to get clients in, but once she gets your money, she just leaves you on "read." Genuinely asking - what is the point of asking clients for updates and offering a correction then ignoring the client?? Such a shady business that does not deserve these high ratings. I paid $285 + $50 tip for them to cut & dye my hair that could've easily be done at home. I only came in to treat myself at 6 weeks postpartum, and instead left feeling disappointed. Not only do I feel scammed, but I now have to spend additional money to get a color correction. read more

Liga gave me the best blowout I have ever had. She was jncredibly kind and so thorough with my shampoo. I was falling asleep throughout the process because I felt so PAMPERED. I was her last client of the day it was so late and she treated me like a queen. Got a haircut with Monica, she is amazing. She paid so much attention to what I wanted and I felt like she really heard me. I have had bad haircuts the last couple times I've tried to find a new hairstylist who really understood what I wanted. She gave me the best layers and even told me I could come back if after a couple days I wanted to change anything. If you're gonna get your hair done with anyone it should be Monica 10/10 recommend! Before coming to Glamourax, I honestly had a fear of getting my hair and makeup done. My fiancé's cousin recommended them about a year ago, and since I'm getting married in April 2026, I've now booked them for every event -- and will continue to do so. Anahis is truly the best makeup artist I've ever had. I love a more minimal, natural look and don't like anything overdone, and she really listens. She somehow remembers exactly what I like and don't like about my face even when I haven't seen her in a while, which makes me feel so comfortable and understood every time I come in. She took the time to try different styles with me to see what I liked, and she made sure everything was perfect for my engagement, pre-wedding shoot, and other events. My first experience at Glamourax guaranteed I'd never go to another hair salon again. I stayed consistent with this and have continuously gotten my haircuts done by Araks. I also got my hair dyed for the first time by Sarah and have been getting it blown out by Marina and the other amazing hair stylists at the salon. Prior to coming to Araks, I was scared to let anyone cut my hair. However, Araks is so amazing at what she does and very careful to make sure she is only cutting as much as you are comfortable with. She takes every minor detail into consideration, pays attention to what you want, and will take her time to go as slow as necessary to ensure she doesn't rush through the process and accidentally cut off more than you want. My hair has also been growing the fastest it ever has since coming here. I recommended her to my friends and heard the same from them as well. I could not possibly recommend a better person to get your hair cut and styled with. She is truly amazing at what she does and you can tell she loves it as well. I had also never gotten my hair dyed but when I decided I wanted to, I knew I had to come to Glamourax. Sarah was the one who dyed my hair and she was also incredible at her job. She looked at my reference pictures and was honest with me about what would work for my hair and what was unrealistic, which is exactly what I think everyone needs. She promised and delivered exactly what I had asked for. My biggest concern was my curl pattern being damaged from the bleach. However, Sarah was very careful with the amount and the way she went about dying my hair. My curl pattern remained exactly the same and it did not mess with my texture either. She also did an incredible job blending it into my natural hair so the growing out process has been great as well! The picture of me with a gray sweater is 3 months after getting it initially dyed and you can tell it still looks well blended and toned. While many of the wonderful ladies at the salon have blown out my hair, my best experiences have been with Marina. She is also incredible at what she does. She takes her time and also considers your hair texture when doing the blowout. My curly hair usually peaks through within the first two days after getting it blown out. However, every time Marina has done it, it's lasted a week. She is also very quick! My hair is thick and usually takes forever, but she is always very fast when blow drying it and still manages to make it look good and last. Overall, all the ladies at this salon are not only incredible at what they do, but they are also kind, social, and welcoming! I have been to many other salons but since coming to Glamourax, I don't think I could ever go to another one that could compare. I attend school in San Diego but commute back to get my hair done here because it's so amazing. Could not recommend a better spot with better stylists. Go to Glamourax!! read more

She was so delightful to speak with and made me feel instantly confident and comfortable that I was coming to the right place. I'm a bit of a stickler for not venturing out to change when it comes to my hair but low and behold after I met my beautiful stylist Sarah, she assured me she wasn't going to do anything drastic but I should definitely go for a change. It was such a lovely experience. The vibe is awesome and not only did I have Sarah working on me but 2 of the other ladies jumped in to discuss the framing of my face and all of a sudden I had a team working on my hair.
