They have limited seating and not many areas to plug in devices. I'd suggest coming with a full battery prior to diving into work. I had a lemon blueberry muffin and the Son of a Nutcracker drink. The coffee was delectable the notes of burnt vanilla and lemon surprisingly blended well! I downed it in a few short minutes. It paired well with the lemon blueberry muffin which was moist and delicious.

The space is a little narrow but gorgeous, with lots of nice natural-feeling light and an open and airy feel. You can see into the bakery and there's a nice display with all the available pastries. Cute merchandise adorns a few racks and shelves (it took a lot of self control to not buy a sweatshirt!). The way the line works conflicts a little bit with the entrance but it moved quickly enough to not be a problem. We got a tahini brownie, an espresso chocolate chip cookie, and a coconut and orange scone. Of course, they also sell beautiful breads and some small meal options like paninis and granola bowls. It all looked delightful. Service was very pleasant and patient. The lady in line ahead of me wasn't being very kind to the workers and speaking to them in a very demanding tone, and they handled her with grace and professionalism. They were also working cohesively as a team to ensure quick service. All our treats were yummy. My surprise favorite was probably the coconut and orange scone. The glaze on top was sweet and pleasantly crackle-y and the flavors were balanced and paired perfectly together. The espresso cookie was also balanced and super yummy; espresso and chocolate go together for a reason! The tahini brownie was fun to try and wildly gooey/rich as promised by the addition of the tahini, almost too much so for my preferences. It is SO fudgy, lol. Definitely very pleased with the whole experience. Give them a try if you're nearby!

You can enter from two different streets…read more Entering from Donelson Pike is the best choice as the store is on the corner of the first building you pass. There is less parking on this side, however, so you may need to drive around the rear of the building to get to the remaining parking spaces. I was lucky to find one spot out front. There is also a handicapped space here as well. There is a short walk to the entrance. There are no steps but the sidewalk takes you around the edge of the grassy area so you have to walk a little further. If you park in the rear of the building in the larger parking lot the walk is a bit longer but more direct. Once inside, the lobby is small but the large display counter shows the variety of options available. There was someone working in the back who came out as some as I entered. It appeared he was the only worker at that time so you may need to wait a moment if they are busy in the back. Either way, the cookies are definitely worth a short wait. They are large and there is a large variety of flavors sure to pique your interest. The prices are as would be expected, and the freshness was evident in the first bite. This is a great option for a treat for that special someone, or just to treat yourself.

As far as the shop it's to the point in terms of space but it has its style is transcendent! I was served by one of the owners, who was kind and informative (not to be confused with caddy)!

A love letter, a thank you, and a heartbroken goodbye to one of Nashville's most important…read morerestaurants. For those unfamiliar: Margot Cafe & Bar opened on June 5, 2001, and will close its doors exactly 25 years later on June 5, 2026. Chef Margot McCormack gave Nashville a full year's notice, so this isn't a sudden gut-punch closing; it's a chef going out on her own terms, after a quarter century of running a beloved restaurant. Bittersweet, but graceful. (Still not over the closing of sister restaurant & cozy brunch spot Marché, which shuttered in June 2020, an early local dining casualty during the pandemic.) If you haven't read Steve Cavendish's excellent essay "Dish Network" (featured in Greetings from New Nashville, a collection of essays edited by another local, Steve Haruch), do yourself a favor and pick it up. It lays out exactly what Margot meant to this city: how her opening was the lightning rod that shifted Nashville's dining scene from a sea of chain restaurants to the chef- and ingredient-driven landscape that ultimately earned three local spots Michelin recognition in the inaugural South ceremony this fall. I came in one last time for dinner and one last time for brunch this past week. Brunch has always been my favorite here, and sitting at the bar earlier this week was unlike any other meal I've had in Nashville. The seats around me were filled with locals, many wearing nostalgic Margot merch, who had come as solo diners for one last meal. Strangers were reminiscing with each other and with the staff about what this place has meant to them. It was the kind of communal, slightly teary, genuinely warm experience you can't manufacture; it only happens at a restaurant that has truly been part of a city's fabric for decades, and we're collectively grieving that loss. A conversation topic that kept coming up across both of my visits is something I'm honestly still wrestling with: so many wonderful restaurants have opened in Nashville since Margot first paved the way, but very few are doing it the way Margot does. The menu truly changes every day. It's hyperlocal, ingredient-driven, based on whatever came in that morning. When I came in for brunch, the bartender told me to nix the strawberries listed on the printed menu in favor of farm-fresh blueberries because that was literally what had been brought in that morning. For dinner, I had a pappardelle (sourced from another excellent local spot: Mr. Aaron's Goods) with gigante beans in a garlicky, comforting sauce that I am genuinely still dreaming about almost a week later. Paired it with a dry pinot gris, on a rainy night, it was pure cozy magic. I can't tell you exactly what to order if you're lucky enough to snag one of the final reservations, because by the time you get there the menu will be different. But that's the whole point. That's the Margot ethos. Margot has always been comfort food, friendship, and celebrating local to me. I'm heartbroken to see it end, but so, so grateful for the inimitable legacy Margot leaves behind for the Nashville restaurant scene to follow. Thank you, Chef Margot, for everything you've given this city.

Ambience was intimate & casual but crowd & volume level picked up surprisingly as the night got later. Overall, highly recommend if you can manage to snag a reservation before they close in early June!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had thumbprint cookies. I'm a huge fan of thumbprint cookies. There's something so nostalgic about them from when I was a child. What makes their thumbprint cookies the best is that they make them with caramel! Most bakeries don't sell thumbprint cookies and that ones that do, I've never seen them with caramel. These are little amazing nuggets of goodness! If their shortbread was a little more tender, it would probably be the #1 bakery item, I've ever had. The magic is in the caramel! It's so soft, gooey and perfectly sweet. It's the perfect pairing with the lightly sweetened shortbread. Since I had the cookies, I haven't stopped thinking about them. Came back into town for the day with my kids and I made sure this was our first stop! I will give you a heads up that the parking is a little funky, but nothing major. I'll be back soon!
