Save your money. Everything is overpriced, the service is pretty bad. The worst thing was that we ordered the smoked wings, and they came out completely burnt. I mean, day old, left at the bottom of the fryer kind of burnt. Not impressive, considering it's a smokehouse, you'd think you would get some flavor, but no. The brisket has no flavor, consider using some wood next time. Seated quickly in the ample space. Got the pork belly bites and smoked sausage. Pork belly bites were amazing. Smoked sausage was very good. Mac and cheese was ample, and was good. Better after a few bites. I think the choice of cheese was a more subtle flavor, might not stand up to heavily sauced bbq meat as good as a cheddar, but after eating just it for a few bites it was very good. Beautiful restaurant- beautiful location - food is lacking and prices are too much for what you get. Got the "sliders" for $7. It's just one. Five stars all around. Extremely welcoming and friendly staff. Flavor filled meat & sides with large portions. For all of the negative burnt ends reviews, they're supposed to be fatty as they're made from the fatty parts of brisket or pork. Burnt ends were a 10/10. Beans and gouda mac & cheese, also a 10/10. If you want your bland box Kraft Mac, stay home. Our food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering and prices are truly a bang for your buck. The restaurant decor and design bring a vibe unmatched by any other restaurant in the area, and imo surrounding areas. Our waitress Loren was outstanding, personable and attentive. I've eaten at this restaurant twice. Once on a Tuesday night and last Thursday for lunch. Setting is fun and modern, however, robot expo food deliverers change the vibe by making this establishment feel like a cafeteria. I want to interact with human servers and have fresh food delivered to my table. My pulled pork came out raw and looked like throw up on a plate. Manager was horrified and he tried to rectify the situation. I gave them grace because they were only open a week and waited to post this review. Food during lunch was lukewarm and overpriced for the taste/quality of food. Very dry pulled chicken, and brisket was just ok. The three of us eating were all in agreement that 518 won't be our regular hang out spot for lunch in Chapin. I really want this place to thrive because we need more dining options in Chapin and the decor/establishment is stunning! All staff have been bubbly and fun so ditch the robots and keep AI out of our town. Praying my third experience is better. Will wait another month or two for them to work out these kinks. Amazingly, it was exactly one year ago (3/20/24) that we made our first visit and said we'd probably not be back. Decided that a year ago they had just opened and maybe it was growing pains. Last review was 3 stars, time it's 1 star. Where to start: 1. Greeters were friendly but not welcoming. Basically, "home many", and then walked to table. 2. Service was ok, nothing special. 3. All of us ordered pulled pork and 1 brisket. ALL of the food was basically cold. Maybe it was sitting for a while before our server got to it? Don't know, but it wasn't even warm. Having been to many top notch BBQ places, this doesn't even chart. 4. At around 6pm, they had live entertainment. It was only one person, but it was so loud you had to shout so the person across from you could hear. It's loud place to begin with, but it needs to be toned down. The musician was actually good, but we didn't enjoy because we were trying to have a conversation. So, I guess this review pretty much aligns with most of the others I see here.... Wanted to love 518, but walked away feeling very "meh". Love the atmosphere, the live music and appreciate that the outside area has huge fans that do a good job at keeping bugs at bay. Service is super fast and the drinks are reasonably priced and the bar inside has lots of TVs but, I came here for the food and to me, that's where 518 disappoints. To start, the cornbread skillet (appetizer) was significantly dry and so hard on the edges that it could NOT be cut with a knife. We deemed it inedible. When we mentioned this to our server she stated that she's "heard that from a lot of people that order it" so she has never gotten it. Seriously? The pulled pork had good texture but it not a lot of flavor. The better option here is the chopped brisket, but I've still had better. The baked beans were dry but the mac & cheese side was creamy and pretty tasty. Service is friendly, but it's definitely amateur hour. Our server came up to us with a broom and dustpan and asked if she could get us anything and something about that just really turned me off (ie. you're cleaning the floor and serving me food? You're cleaning the floor and just figured you'd swing by? Just bad). I can see returning to 518 for drinks and to listen to the music, but don't think I'll make a go at eating here again. This is our new favorite bar and restaurant. The food is great and portions are large (shareable for sure). The service is terrific every time and we LOVE the outdoor covered patio with large fans and serene view. Also love the extra large family sized live-edge table inside that accommodated our whole extended family. And they don't close before sunset like some restaurants in this area of town! They are dog friendly and have live music on weekends. Save us a spot once the word gets around! read more

Amazing is all I can say. Excellent service from Misty & the rest of the staff, wonderful food & great atmosphere. Chapin needed this place for sure. I almost only gave 3 stars due to the wait for the food but the restaurant just opened so I gave them a pass this time. Our waitress (Kelly) was exceptional and the rest of the staff appeared to be just as good. My whole family enjoyed the food. I had shrimp and grits which is very creative, using fried shrimp and pork belly "burnt ends" but I wish they would take the tails off the shrimp, no one likes to use their fingers to eat shrimp with grits - just too messy and the pork belly needed more "burnt" - it was like eating a piece of undercooked fat - not a "burnt end". The atmosphere of this new restaurant is perfect - a nice deck in the back overlooking a little pond - should be great in the summer! When I stepped inside, it felt like I stepped outside of Chapin. Owners did a great job setting a new bar in Chapin!! Thank you for a new restaurant with a new concept. The robots were also a great surprise...wasn't expecting those. I tried the salmon, rice, corn and collards. All was very good. Wish my food was a tad hotter (my husband makes fun of me because I like my food pipin hot), wish it came with corn bread instead of a dinner roll and that the rice was jazzed up a tad but other than that, I have zero complaints. A Friday night, parking lot packed, which would make you think this is going to be great. We walked in with reservations and waited 10 min. Was seated, all appeared, and looked fine. But, now it begins, the appetizers come out, and we all bit into these potato things and tastes like handfuls of salt. Dinner comes out, BBQ salmon, plain salmon, and a burger. My wife could not eat the salmon ( and she has been eating salmon for 45 years). It was marinated in salt, no flavor but salt. My bloated started from fries with MSG overloaded, ate half my burger.. Forget-iit could no longer bite into bbq salt burger. My daughter, she said the BBQ sauce covered the salt, so it was fair, but her veggies were marinated in salt. 120.00 was Bill, the waiter asked why we did not eat, we explained. He did offer to get manager, but we know from past restaurants through ownership, does zero. So now we just review, and prepare you to take your blood pressure meds with you and double up. I have opinions, but does no good to air additional comments. Just do yourself a favor, request no salt to your food, and ask for salt shaker, and season yourself (if possible). That's if you really want to try. We shall not return with the other's. read more

We went to the 518 last night and will never go back. The menu was limited and the food was awful. My husband had smoked brisket and it was fatty. His green beans were grey from being left cooking so long. I had what was supposed to be smoked pork chops. They did not taste smoked at all and were covered in a sauce that tasted like ketchup. I also ordered the Mac and cheese that was overcooked and mushy. Our meals came with a store bought cold roll and no butter. I ordered the sangria and was told they were out of it. The people that were with us ordered coffee and had to wait for it to be brewed. The interior of the building was nice and our waitress and hostess were friendly. read more

The ribs were not well cooked. You needed a knife to cut the meat from the bone. This smokehouse has a junior pitmaster who is apparently not experienced in Southern BBQ when one has to chew the burnt ends more than three times is a tell tale sign of poor understanding of how to cook. The service was very good, the wait staff and bartenders were good but the selection of cocktails was limited. The ambiance was incredible the presentation of the seating area was well designed but the bathroom was insufficient. The men restroom only have two stalls and no urinals? This restaurant has the largest bar in Chapin and a fantastic view of the outdoor area.The outdoor area is spacious and inviting. This is a much needed restaurant to the Chapin community but the food leaves a lot to be desired. Put the Farm Boys cook in this restaurant and you will have folks lined up to Lake Murray and talking about the food like it was the second coming. read more

We were told there was a 30 to 45 minute wait. We waited over an hour for our table. We ate out on the patio and it was very nice. Thomas waited on us and didn't a Great job. Very disappointed. Sat down ordered a beer via the QR code and took nearly 9 minutes to get as you watched waitresses stand at the bar. Then ordered a sampler which is in the Q-R code and was told it's not longer available as of 2 days ago.
