How I want to be able to give this place a good review but I can't mislead others. I looked at the website and couldn't find any price info, so I booked a class and told the instructor at the door it was our first time. She signed my friend and I up and directed us to the class. We were under the impression since she said nothing up front that the first class was free. We took the class and as we were leaving the Instructor told us we owed $27 for a drop in class, or $27 for two as a New Student. My friend was visiting from Seattle so there was no way she was buying 2, so she spent $27 for a mediocre yoga class. I was so embarrassed, she shrugged it off but never again. It almost seemed like the teacher purposely was hiding the price to get us in the door, as when we first arrived I offered to pay and she denied. If I were to have known the price ahead of time we would have left. Totally unfair business practice. I understand being a business and needing to profit, but at least make it clear to your customers that you are gouging them. There are many other choices in the area, ones that are significantly more affordable. The class itself was good, but the stress we felt afterwards wasn't worth it. read more

I took the Alignment yoga class. After one class, a sore spot in my back disappeared. My back had been sore for years! The Happy Hips class is also fabulous. I'm new to yoga so I am very impressed with the results. Clean, charming atmosphere. read more

I really love this yoga studio -- clean, bright, cheerful instructors. I started with a Groupon and decided to get a pass afterward. My only problem with it is that the classes are often at times that I can't go during the day. The classes generally aren't early enough in the morning or late enough at night that I can make it. There are lots of classes during the day while I'm at work (not sure who can afford to go to those)! As a result, I probably won't get another pass :( read more

My husband and I stopped by 532 Yoga recently one evening to see if it is a studio we wanted to join. The owner gave us suspicious looks and seemed agitated that we would just walk in to check the place out and that we wanted to ask questions - I don't think I'm the only person who wants to make sure I like the vibe of a studio before I decide to join. The owner practically told us to leave and look at their website. Weird and rude!!! I will definitely NOT be joining this place. It also had a creepy vibe to it and is located on a very busy intersection with no parking. If you are looking for a quiet place with easy access, unless you live right around the corner, this is not it! read more

I have been practicing yoga at 532Yoga for almost three years. This studio has a great community of people and it offers access to several different styles of yoga. The yoga we are taught is set in a firm foundation of tradition and philosophy that makes my practice well rounded and challenging. The classes range from gentle and restorative, to sweat inducing and endurance building - especially the Monday night class which involves a lot of arm balancing. There's something available for everyone and the teachers are lovely. They make class accessible and meet you where you are in your practice. read more

I actually visit all three studios located in downtown Alexandria due to my family and work schedule. I started taking classes at 532Yoga recently. My daughter started doing volunteering at INOVA Alexandria hospital. We live in Springfield and I did not want to drive all the way back once I had dropped her off. So I decided to look for Yoga classes on Friday nights at 5:00 PM. 532Yoga came to the rescue. I attended my first class a few weeks ago and now I am hooked. I have also taken classes with Ginny and the owner and Master Yogini Suzanne. Both teachers are wonderful. So I have found myself going to the 532Yoga whenever I have time! I can most certainly learn a lot from Suzanne. She is wonderful. She is tough but with a gentle Yogini HEART (just the way I like it!!). I highly recommend 532Yoga. read more

I've only been here once, so this review is merely on my first impression and experience at this studio. I was a bit ambitious and signed up for the Hot Yoga thinking that I could make it since I have done other forms of yoga i.e bikram and vinyasa. I was definitely wrong b/c this class was intense. One of the best Yoga studios I've been to in the area. Parking is fairly easy (if you come after 6pm) and the studio is well maintained. Unlike some other studios in the area which have started to become a little worn (and could use a deep cleaning) this one is always very clean and feels bright and open. I have taken both a Deep Stretch and a Gentle Yoga class and found both of them incredible. The only complaint I have is that the clientele here tend to be a bit more chatty than other places---which can be a bit distracting when you're trying to focus & meditate. read more

I started going to this studio in the fall of 2016 after only trying Bikram yoga a few years before. I had tried a few other studios in Old Town, but the lack of instruction given during the classes lead me to try out 532Yoga. It felt like just because I had taken a yoga class before, the instructors assumed I knew what I was doing. If you've never done yoga before, they have a variety of classes you can take to learn the basic principles of body alignment in poses. This teacher training program transformed my life. I used to have contstant battles with anxiety, but focusing my attention on deepening my practice and generally just finding a passion through this program taught me how to regulate my thoughts and calm my mind. Not only did this teacher training help me to evolve emotionally and mentally, but it has made me much stronger and more aware of how my body fits in space. After taking this course, I feel very confident in relaying what I've learned to others. I went to 532Yoga to follow Ginny Loving, an instructor I met a the DC yoga expo a few years back. Because I was working through a few injuries, I initially only took the Saturday restorative class and was able to meet Lauren Carstensen. She does these lovely little Zen stories in the middle of practice that always make me smile. Lauren also has a great voice for a restorative class, which really helps you to slip into a relaxed state of mind through each pose. I've since taken classes from a few different instructors here and have liked each of them for various reasons. This past December, I decided to have a yoga birthday party and picked the hilarious and fun Ginny to be the instructor; I don't think I could have chosen a better instructor for the group I had. I had a couple people who had never taken yoga and one person who didn't even like yoga. The class was well-rounded and everyone had a great time - even the person who didn't like yoga changed her tune because of Ginny. She has this way of making you feel like everything in yoga is possible, while at the same time making you feel great about doing what's possible for your body right now. I highly recommend 532Yoga and any of their instructors. Also...yoga party - I think anyone who loves yoga should give yourself this gift! read more

I've been to almost all of the yoga studios in Alexandria, and 532, by far, is my favorite. I've only been to Suzanne and Mary's classes, but they both give a lot of individualized attention, helping you get into deeper poses with the correct form. I love the variety of classes offered, and also the times. What a wonderful journey! When I first started the program, my expectation was that I would learn about anatomy, how to teach poses, etc., but I came away with much more than that! The teachers' knowledge of asana from the Iyengar, Ashtanga and Viniyoga perspectives has really been key in making me very conscious about alignment. Their in-depth experience in anatomy, therapeutic applications of yoga, etc., provided me with a whole lot more anatomical information that I'd previously had. The US1 Yoga program has given me the foundation to teach successfully, providing me with the sufficiency and efficiency not only in teaching others, but also in my own practice. Unlike some other studios in the area - the members here are not pretentious/judgmental, the price per class is reasonable, and the space is clean, bright and open. My favorite class is the Iyengar Alignment - All Levels Class with Suzanne Leitner-Wise. I've recently taken a beginners yoga workshop at 532Yoga. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend all classes but for the ones I participated in, I was impressed. The instructor, Suzanne, was thorough explaining every movement, pose in detail. The "do(s)" and "don't(s)" and the "why(s)" and "why not(s)" complete with naming the anatomic part of the body that should be working or could be hurt if not done properly. She not only explained but showed every move in almost a slow motion way for your understanding. Loved it. Surely will try and schedule other classes. read more

This is the best yoga studio by far. The instructors are awesome and the classes are challenging. They take the time to get to know you and always remember your name. The restorative yoga class I took on a Saturday was AMAZING!

As a dedicated yogini who lives in the north section of Old Town, I love this new addition to our (booming!) community.For many of us, it is a walk away! The newly renovated studio is quite bright and warm. It includes a large welcoming reception area with comfy sofas-- a place for students to relax, renew, and build a sense of community, before and after class. 532 is run by a lovely dedicated and experienced yoga instuctor and staffed with a wide demographic of talented instructors. The initial class schedule includes a little bit for everyone, and there is a quite a variety of upcoming workshops. The studio recently opened, and so it will be interesting to see how 532 blossoms. We must allow for growing pains, as is the case with every new business. But, I predict that business will soon with blooming and booming at this wonderful addition to the "hood". 532 is one of my favorite studios! I specifically come to 532 to take Ginny's class. Her yoga jam class on Monday nights are a super fun and safe space to try out all the inversions and arm balances you can imagine. Ginny gives great advice on how to get yourself into poses you never thought you could! Her slow, stretchy and delicious class is so unique. It's an hour plus of stretching. It's slowly become one of my favorite classes out there. I found myself getting flexible, stronger and mentally happier after taking Ginny's classes. read more

This is a lovely, recommended yoga studio in Alexandria that is set in a well-lit, pretty house. The practice space itself is narrow, but long and ample. In addition to the superb rocket yoga classes offered by Ginny, I enjoy going here for the many specialty classes they offer. This studio is definitely big on bringing many different types of yoga (e.g., acro, rocket, simple meditation) to practitioners and expanding our awareness of the practice of yoga in general. I even got to attend my first 108 (or was it more?) sun salutations practice here for the winter solstice. Classes have never been over-crowded, which can happen at other studios (even ones I like). Suzanne, the owner, is a great teacher as well and seems to be proficient in many different styles. The only drawback is that the studio has not been successful in attracting men (I am usually the only male in each class) - but that may change as they have a male teacher signed up this year. read more

Absolutely amazing. After reading Kelly G's review, I had to add in my 2 cents. This is a life changing course. Seriously. Do not attempt unless you want to better your life . The program not only gives you in depth knowledge of the asanas- or pose part of Yoga, but it opens up a whole new world of the philosophy. The teachers are crazy smart, super supportive, and amazing mentors. While other programs- many more expensive- also offer guidance, at US1 Yoga the meetings occur twice a week w/ one intensive weekend a month. It may sound like a lot- but there is so much learning going on that when you are actually doing it, it barely seems like enough. The course flies by- as do all things when you are having fun- and it is very sad when you end. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I went in just looking to become a yoga teacher, and came out at a nicer, more rounded and accepting person in the end. Worth every penny. read more

Got a 5/$25 deal on livingsocial to this place and I'm so happy with my experience that I plan on signing up for full-priced classes (which I never do!) once my voucher runs out. I went to a class with Ginny and she was amazing. She has such a positive and uplifting personality and that made me work out harder than I ever have in a yoga class! She also gave a lot of individualized attention. The studio itself is incredibly clean and the class size was small (7 people in all) so I didn't feel cramped at all. All of the teacher bios on their website are very impressive as well. Also, after my first class, I got a personal thank you e-mail from the owner, which was really nice. I started yoga in 2005 with Suzanne, so when the studio near my home closed I moved over to 532Yoga because I knew she was an excellent teacher. I like the variety of classes, and while many are advanced, even the most advanced offer alternative asanas for beginners or those with challenges. I used to avoid anything but gentle or beginner classes, but now I will go to anything that is offered, confident that I will be guided to work hard but never over do. Love it so much I am now in teacher training there. The studio, while small, is bright and open there are a lot of good quality props. The teachers are knowledgeable, caring and attentive. I was worried about parking in Old Town, but I have been attending for months and always find a free space within one or two blocks of the studio. read more

What a wonderful yoga studio. Though I do not live in Alexandria, I happily make my way to 532 anytime that I can. I've only taken gentle or restorative you classes with Suzanne and Lauren, but I absolutely love this place. The staff are inviting and the regulars are so welcoming as well. I wish I could take a restorative class at 532 everyday! I love that the studio offers mats and I always leave with free granola or samples. The studio is very spacious and I love that 532 isn't pretentious. They welcome everyone and both Suzanne and Lauren are always adjusting and providing modifications. I've tried many yoga studios in the Chicago area and Washington DC area and 532 is BY FAR the best. The community at 532 is very inclusive so all feel welcome here. Suzanne is so knowledgeable and such a good teacher. I never have to wonder "am I doing this right?" in her classes because she easily explains what to focus on, how it should feel, what muscles should be engaged and in what way. I've been going to 532 for several years now and not once have I hurt myself, and I've always had a great workout and leave feeling more aligned, stronger, taller, and mindful. read more

I stalked this studio on-line for months, hesitating because it looked like a place where you really needed to know what you were doing...and sadly, that was not I. After trying out a bunch of other local studio's, none of which I found to be a good fit for me. Tired of being yoga-shamed by the bendy-20 year old instructor, and giving up entirely on yoga at my gym, I took a chance that I wouldn't be the worst kid in class at 532. Guess what?!
