Been waiting to give them a try and had an appointment in tukwila so I stopped in for lunch. This…read moreis a no frills, southern home cooked food spot with rotating specials. I stopped in about 30 mins after they opened on a friday and they had a lunch rush, everything is cooked to order so be prepared to wait at least 20mins. I ordered the 6oz catfish and chips which came with 3 catfish strips, fries, 1 hush puppy, chips and a drink ($16.99) I also got a side of mac&cheese. The positives: staff was kind, pastor at the counter would make jokes with customers and you could tell they had regulars during lunch time. Fries were well seasoned, hush puppy was good and Mac was acceptable. My only issue with the catfish was that it was overcooked and became a bit chewy (see photo). Sitting in there it seems like the wings were a customer favorite so I would love to go back and try their wings and other sides. Since my order took longer (there was a large order right before mines) the pastor at the counter thanked me for my patience and threw in a dessert.

Because they have a limited schedule, we've missed being able to try it, but we got lucky this time. Take a look at the menu before you go, they offer different "today's special" items so take a look. We got the fried chicken and the honey spicy wings. I loved this fried chicken and the wings were so good. Honestly it's just simple good fried chicken, it was juicy and not too salty as sometimes breading can be. The wings though, they were my favorite, the sauce on these was so good. You just wanted to keep eating these and I did. I'd like to try more of their items soon. And be aware, there was quite the line already in place when my husband went to get food. It's good food period.

I tell my non-Asian friends that they should leave an Asian restaurant if you don't see any Asians inside. I am happy to say we were the odd ducks in this place! Love me some legit soul food. The menu is straightforward. We ordered at the counter. The food is brought to our table. The food took quite a while with big crowds coming in after us. I suspect they cook in batches as multiple groups received food at the same time. It was mostly self-service (utensils, water) until the restaurant quieted down, then we saw servers cleaning tables, etc. The Food: Combo Dinner with two sides, $26 - 5 Stars The combo plat offers two meat choices. I chose the wings and catfish. The wings are sizable and plump. Highly recommend. The catfish was a thinner cut and a bit dryer. I liked the very thin breading on the catfish, not greasy, and it tasted good with Tabasco. For sides, both the collard greens and fried okra are excellent. In fact, I say the okra is perfection! The little corn bread is just right for me. I thought the corn bread has good flavor while hubby said it was too dry. Catfish Dinner with two sides, $24 - 3.5 Stars Hubby complained the catfish was too thin. He's not a Tabasco person, so that doesn't help. I gave him two wings to calm him down. Lol. He loved the hush puppies the best. They are huge with a wonderful crisp. I agree with him! He thought the yams are too sweet; they do look sweet in the liquids but isn't that want yams are intended to be? I think he just needs to order differently in the future. Note they have a 3.5% service charge for credit card purchases. See line on the menu photo.

They have good smoked meats and foods containing smoked pork, brisket and chicken. The nachos are yummmmy as well as many other items likes burgers, tacos, appetizers, etc. The staff is always friendly as well! Nice entryway/lobby area. The restaurant itself (and bar) is cozily set up, booths and tables, and charming art work from the movie "Caddy Shack" - loved that! Our server noticed us immediately, was efficient and friendly the entire time, and also makes a mean Billy's Cooler - a very refreshing citrus drink. The brisket sandwich was tops, the fries were good, the loaded potatoes are a fun option (the bacon was a little hard to eat - not crunchy, not soft). The main upset was the French Onion Soup, which was, let's just say, not their specialty area. It was overwhelmingly salty, with meager bread to soak up the broth. The server was kind enough to take it off our bill - it was, at least for me, inedible. My spouse thought the same. This was a glitch in an otherwise fine evening. Also notable was that, even though we came in about an hour before close, they never made us felt rushed. We will definitely go back for the ambience and try other menu items - and other drinks. A nice relaxing spot.

I was born and raised in Georgia so maybe that's why the taste is so bland. The meatloaf just tasted burnt and like they dumped half the container of pepper in it. The Mac N cheese was decent. They do give generous portion sizes. My son's shrimp Po boy was decent. The lettuse was not limp or wilted. My daughter's bidcuits and gravy looked flavorful but I've had jar gravy that had more flavor. The biscuits were moist. The hash brown were not crispy at all just soggy. I sent the meatloaf back requesting that it be removed from my bill. I took one small fork full to taste it. My daughters captain platter has a burnt flavor as well according to her. I did not try hers. If you want food that is bursting with flavor like true southern food, go somewhere else. But if all you care about is polite service and generous portions then this is the place for you.

I mean check my pics. My only gripe and the only reason i did not give 5 stars .... the food was not seasoned. Not a spec of salt or spice. No pepper, no garlic powder, no onion powder, no cayenne. We were very confused lol I'm hoping it was a fluke because everything about this place is great . Especially the people who run it. So we will be back and hopefully the food will be seasoned because thats literally the only negative i have to say.

I don't think I've had anything that was meh at this location and this spot gets very busy, but despite that you will get a buzzer to let you know when you come get your food or if you did an online order then there is a section where you can tell them your name and they will usually have it ready for you. The staff here are very friendly and helpful in assisting customers. They are also bilingual so you can speak Tagalog or English! There is quite a bit of seating from solo, couples, and family seating. The most recent visit, I noticed they didn't have tables and chairs at the front but they also are doing a FFXIV collab so they were probably really busy. Speaking of the FFXIV collab, this location had the limited drink and it was pretty good. It does just taste like a watered down Gatorade but I did enjoy the crystal boba and they included a generous serving of it. I also appreciate that FFXIV themed buckets, boxes, and cups are only given to those who order the FFXIV items so that way people who actually want them get them.

You know a place is good when you walk by it and almost every time you can count on a line of people extending out of the store and into the mall. That describes this Restaurant 100%. Long lines, but they do a great job of getting people through and waiting on the next in line. They have a couple of dining room attendance who keep things spotless. As soon as the table is cleared, they are quickly over there cleaning up any trash and wiping everything down. Seating is at a premium. I ordered a two piece chicken,Joy with one side and a drink. The mashed potatoes were a great surprise. They had chunks of real potato in there, and they were really good. The chicken was crispy without being greasy and delicious. The star of the show, though was the peach mango pie. Incredible. If you haven't tried it before it is a must have. Great overall experience and highly recommended.
