    Catfish and hush puppies
    Huong L.

We got a Groupon for this place and decided to grab dinner here. It's located in the tzar dumpling shop so it looks like they share the kitchen The groupon was for 1lb of catfish with 6 hush puppies. The ordering was a little weird. We called to place our order and they told us to text instead. Also if we pay card, it was $1 charge, but if you pay cash, it has to be exact change... On to the food: The catfish was fresh and hot, but not as flavorful. There was some spice but you can barely taste it. The hush puppies were denser than most but it was flavorful, however some pieces were still cold inside. Price: without the Groupon, it would have been around $20, which is pricy in my opinion. The meal was almost a light meal for 2 people. Overall, it was ok. Not sure I would be back.

Phenomenal! Delicious! I love ordering from here. Expect the food to take a while, but it comes FRESH and fantastic. The collard greens are so well seasoned (a lot of places under salt their collards), the mac n cheese is tasty and comforting, the red beans and rice is everything I want it to be, and the chicken makes my mouth water just LOOKING at it (and the smell! the crunch! have mercy). When I crave fried chicken I want classic country fried--not the saucy stuff most chicken places around Seattle have. I grew up eating southern soul food and was worried Seattle wouldn't have anything to satisfy that craving--but Soul definitely deserves its name! Edit: Forgot to mention how great the portions are! They really pack the sides full-up!

Lemon Pepper Fried Catfish Strips Fried Chicken Meal Baked Macaroni and Cheese Collard Greens Candied Yams Banana Pudding

Delicious ! I ordered this restaurant using uber eats for a traditional Christmas dinner while away on a work trip and I'm glad i did ! The food was mostly flavorful, but overall delicious Lemon pepper catfish: tho small in size, these were my favorite Fries chicken : least flavorful, but made up for the perfect crispy Yams: just delicious Mac and cheese : great for restaurant made ! Greens: also delicious- I'm use to mine being slightly spicy, but these i would get again Banana pudding : this was good Overall if I'm ever in Seattle craving soul food I'd get this again.

    Fried Shrimp Meal

Ordered via Postmates. I ordered the fried shrimp meal, fried chicken (wing) meal, cornbread and banana pudding. The food was hot and the shrimp/chicken wings were crispy! Banana pudding was yummy, not too sweet. The wings could've used more flavor but nothing a little bit of hot sauce can't take care of. Overall, the food was delicious and I would definitely order again!!

They really need to get their business together! You have to text your order in and if you call after hours they tell you the hours are online and are rude about it.. Well they have both of these posted online so it really is a disservice to the customers! Sadly the food is great but I'm not sure it's worth all the trouble. Trying to park and p/u is another nightmare...

Catfish & Macaroni and Cheese & Collard Greens

The best hot fresh soul food in Seattle The catfish was perfectly seasoned, super cheesy macaroni and cheese, and the greens were soft and flavorful.

Order twice from them during Covid lockdown and both times food arrived hot and delicious. The fried chicken both times had a nice seasoning with crisp exterior. The hush puppies were moist and I could eat those yams every day. I would not call this health food because it is rich but I felt the ingredients used were quality so I didn't feel crappy afterwards. I'd order from them again because I'm curious about their po' boys (fried oysters, catfish, and shrimp) and their gumbo. They also offer cheesy grits with those same protein choices! They offer red velvet cake for dessert but tbh I always forget! Maybe next time...

This place is very hard to find (actually located inside another restaurant called Tzar). It's weird that we had to stand outside and text our food order to the people right inside. The food came and for the most part it was tasty. I would definitely recommend the fried foods (fried pork chop, hush puppies, lemon pepper catfish) they were delicious. The other food we had was good but lacked the flavors we were hoping for.

Large portions! My leftovers after 2 people ate!

I stopped in about 30 mins after they opened on a friday and they had a lunch rush, everything is cooked to order so be prepared to wait at least 20mins. I ordered the 6oz catfish and chips which came with 3 catfish strips, fries, 1 hush puppy, chips and a drink ($16.99) I also got a side of mac&cheese. The positives: staff was kind, pastor at the counter would make jokes with customers and you could tell they had regulars during lunch time. Fries were well seasoned, hush puppy was good and Mac was acceptable. My only issue with the catfish was that it was overcooked and became a bit chewy (see photo). Sitting in there it seems like the wings were a customer favorite so I would love to go back and try their wings and other sides. Since my order took longer (there was a large order right before mines) the pastor at the counter thanked me for my patience and threw in a dessert.

The cabbage here was everything I could ever ask for. I wanted more when I was done. The Mac & cheese didn't look like much to me but man did it serve on tastes. It was cheesy, seasoned and cooked just right. The fried chicken was cooked fresh and seasoned to perfection. My breast was still juicy and piping hot. Call ahead for to go orders or you'll spend your time waiting for the chicken to be fried. The peach cobbler here is not my preferred way to have as I like a pie crust with mine but oh my goodness, I took one bite and couldn't stop savoring this dessert. Do yourself and get you some. They do give generous portion sizes. My son's shrimp Po boy was decent. The lettuse was not limp or wilted. My daughter's bidcuits and gravy looked flavorful but I've had jar gravy that had more flavor. The biscuits were moist. The hash brown were not crispy at all just soggy.
