A solid, messy fish taco spot that I basically grew up on. It's one of those places you randomly start craving once in a while and then can't stop thinking about until you go back. My husband and I stopped here after a barber cut and we k ew exactly what we wanted: fish tacos and chowder. We split a 2 piece grilled cod.... Why???? Because they are huge, double stuffed and full of fish. The toppings are fresh and are just that: toppings (not 2/3-34 of the taco)! We paired it with 2 cups of seafood chowder. It was pretty packed for a Friday night and for my first time there, I was already looking forward to the eat the food at home with how many people were ordering for both dine in and take out. They have a lot of seating. It was nice knowing that you can bring a big party here and they'd have the room for it. Be aware that the main lot may get pretty packed due to the multiple restaurants in the same plaza but there's plenty of street parking! After delivering part of my order and then going home, it was a little under an hour before I finally a got to eat my Captain's Platter so it wasn't the most crispy but definitely still delicious. Haven't had beer battered fish in so long and I will say that this one will be memorable as the different fish were cooked perfectly under the coating. Naturally came with some oyster crackers. Clam strips - being honest they are kind of the same most everywhere. If you like them - you'll like these. Shrimp - yes please. Tasty even without sauce. Speaking of sauce - one of the options is a jalapeño tarter. Yum. I'd get that again for sure. Fries were really good. Next time I'd probably order fries AND chowder. We chose beer batter for the fish and panko for the onion rings,clam chowder. I'd sat overall it was good but I think it was overcooked being a bit on the darker side maybe the oil was too hot. The chowder was a bit sweeter than I'd ever experienced maybe due to sweet onion? The space is nice it's clean and lots cool decorations. I don't know if I'll be back due to how dark the batter was cooked. This spot is legit!! I don't know how I somehow missed this place but came by here as a final hoorah for friends before their flight. What a great capstone to a first-time PNW visit for our friends! I had the cod and chips - battered - the jalapeño tartar paired well and this didn't disappoint. When I get fish and chips I want to have the freshness of the fish, the crispness of the fry and they both did the trick. The lady at the front (owner?) welcomes you and makes suggestions (how I got the jalapeño tartar) and was super friendly. The atmosphere was very fisherman - esqué - lots of photos of the sea, boats, fish and stuff. They also rep Seattle well. Gotta love a hometown spot, definitely a champion I would highly recommend . I like that you have the option for how they prepare your fish, they also had grilled and regular breading options. You can choose fries (chips) or coleslaw with your order. My wife chose the fries and I chose coleslaw. You also get to choose your dipping sauce from about 5 choices. I chose the house tartar and my wife had the remoulade. We also shared a 12 oz Seafood Chowder. I love the uniformly sized fish portions, the fries were very good with either double frying or a breading on them (not sure which) and the Seafood Chowder was very thick (how I like it!) but not creamy enough like Ivars or Dukes chowders. The coleslaw was average. Overall, we had a friendly order taker, great tasting food and lots of choices. I do wish they offered free water as an option but alas, they did not. The Food: Lobster Roll with regular fries, $30 - 2.5 Stars Their lobster roll is a lobster salad roll, NOT a lobster roll. So sad. It tasted good enough as a salad roll with (too much) mayo, chopped celery, etc. It just isn't a lobster roll. Maine is calling their bs. Their fries are however excellent! Bumped up 0.5 stars for the fries. Oyster Po Boy, $17 - 2.5 Stars Their oyster po boy is excellent. In the photo, you can see the cross section showing the oyster cut in half. Their oysters are wonderfully fried. We upgraded to sweet potato fries. BIG mistake. It was so burnt that it didn't taste like sweet potato anymore. I have never had any restaurant screw up my sweet potato fries. I was so disappointed. The counter was always busy, or else I would have asked for a new order. Being an eatery, there wasn't anyone I can ask other than go stand in line. I just didn't want to stand in line. 3.5 Stars for the po boy. Minus 1 star for the burnt fries. Blackened Mahi Mahi fish tacos, $12 - 1 Star The fish is not blackened at all. It didn't have any blackened seasoning. It just tasted grilled and forgot the seasoning. It was the time the text said it would be ready. It was already bagged up and ready to go when I arrived. I gave it another chance tonight because I thought maybe the last time there was a fluke ( we all have bad days) However, it was not the great meals it had been in the past. Now with the lobster roll - the brioche bread was good espy with the buttered exterior so when you hits it you get that extra salty butter flavor. The lobster filling was not bad but it needed some more flavor - like more mayo, butter, and some lemon and herbs.
