We were hesitant when we saw the reviews, but the staff at the hotel recommended it. We tried the Al pastor, asada, and chorizo - all of them were FIRE! The guac was delicious and a good portion for what you pay for. They also have tasty drinks - our fav was the Sexy Señorita (I think that's the name). Went in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all! A few people were dining inside the restaurant so it didn't seem empty. Interior was nice and there is a table area where you can pick your sauces. The outside area was even nicer, but empty due to the hot weather. Tried it because it kept popping up on my insta. We got the 10pc Quesa Birria tacos, Chorizo and Asada. Per my friend stated the Chorizo was good. I'm surprised that 559 Taqueria has such low ratings on Yelp. In my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons if you know what to order. Pros: Their tacos are authentic and are filled to the brim with plenty of meat, onions, and cilantro. I love their carne asada red tacos. The tortilla of the red taco is dipped in broth, giving it even more flavor. The carne asada is tender, tasty, and not too fatty. I also got the chicken taco tijuana style which was good. This taco came on a grilled flour tortilla and was topped with guacamole. My friend got the California burrito with light French fries and really liked it too. Cons: The carnitas taco was a bit dry. The queso tacos were also pretty greasy and too cheesy which made it a bit too heavy for my liking. The chips and guacamole are nothing special. If you just want food you have to wait in line and order then sit down then they call your number out. I feel like it just throws the entire vibe off. The drinks are not good, they taste like dive bar drinks which I thought they were going to be more like craft cocktail? But none of the ingredients that were used in my margarita were fresh which was disappointing. The food was also not the best. I got the carne asada plate with rice and beans. I wasn't given any utensils and I had to ask twice for them. No salsa was provided either I had to ask for that as well. I haven't been here in years, love the new aesthetics of the restaurant! Such a nice modern touch with a flare of culture! The inside dining area is rather small, however there is outside patio dining available. We went on taco Tuesday for their $2 tacos and of course couldn't resist their margaritas flight. The tacos were the standard street size that washed down perfectly with the margaritas. I wasn't a fan of the salsa bar being outside as the hot summer attracts flies. This was the worst Mexican food I have eaten. I tried a 3 plate taco so I could try three different meats. Carnitas, Carne Asada and Al Pastor. The Carnitas were flavorless, cold, and overcooked. The Carne Asada was dry, it too was overcooked. and The Al Pastor was greasy. It made our stomach hurt. The rice they make is horrible. If I could give no stars I would. I even ordered a red chicken quesadilla. It had chicken, dried up cheese like it sat on the counter before they brought it to me and the quesadilla was dry and hard. This place has horrible food. *************NEW UPDATE 09/02/20************* I originally gave this place 5 stars NOW 0 to 1 STARS as the dude and I came in around 9:50pm and they close at 10pm and there was no line which was nice! However it went south real quick! 90% of the staff was not wearing their masks properly -hanging BELOW their neck or not wearing it at all. The cooks were TOUCHING door handles to the walk in pantry or freezer and handling FOOD right after without changing their GLOVES or washing hands at all!!! We watched this occur from two male cooks without wearing face masks do this 3 to 4 times . ANOTHER male staff brought in a small dog into the kitchen area and another male employee in the kitchen was wearing his face mask correctly with one glove on and one glove off was touching ALL over the dog and kissing it - then went to handle and prepare food without washing his hands or removing the gloves then was sitting on counters in the kitchen constantly touching his face and face mask then eventually removed it. Really excited to try this place. Went Monday evening just before 7 pm and surprised to see this place was jammed pack! It was very difficulty to find parking they were definitely busy! Glad we didn't wait long in line to order but once we ordered to-go we waited 1 hour and 5 minutes to get our food. This place has indoor and outdoor sitting. As we entered all the indoor and out door sitting was occupied and I over heard the sitting wait would be about 30 to 45 min wait. They have signs up for social distancing but they were not enforcing it. They had good customer service the lady at the register was kind enough to explain the different type of tacos they had. We ordered a total of 20 tacos which consisted of the quesotaco, red taco, regular carne asada and tripa taco, shrimp and chicken. My favorite was the quesotaco carne asada! I would highly recommend it. It's very flavorful and the cheese just melts in your mouth one of the best tacos I have every had! The tripa taco was okay wish it was little more crunchier. I was really disappointed with the red taco, the tortilla was supposed to be dipped in the red sauce but we were disappointed to see that the red taco was lacking the sauce I was expecting to see it red and drenched like the photos, but it looked like a normal taco with a hint of red. Overall, I was happy with the quesotaco I would come back again to order it and I would also like to give the red taco another try. The workers were nice but the service took forever if I have know it was going to be an hour plus wait we probably wouldn't have stayed. They can also work on their cleanliness.
