After speaking with salesman D. I drove 4 hours to purchase a box truck that he said was a good truck. Minutes after arriving I was shocked to see what a pile of junk I was looking at. Holes in the box. Side wall of the box falling apart. Wiring harness hanging out from the side of the dash. Power steering pump screaming. And the drivers side floor completely rotted away to the point my foot went completely through it. When I told him how I felt about driving 4 hours one way to see this truck he responded with a shoulder shrug and saying money doesn't go far anymore. What a joke. NEVER BUY FROM THIS PLACE. I saw a sprinter van on craigslist and made the journey to London ohio to look at it. When I arrived, the van was in the SERVICE DEPARTMENT. The mechanic was doing something with the battery compartment. I asked the sales rep, he stated "we are just checking everything out and cleaning it up" .... I test drove the van and heard a rubbing noise. I took it back and told the salesman I was very interested but I needed to know what the noise was. He had his mechanic drive and take it back to the service department. The diagnosis was that the emergency brake was catching. Easy fix. So I bought it. On the way from London to Columbus, the oil light came on, the rubbing got worse. I took it to a garage. It was never the emergency brake, it was stuck calipers... the brakes, rotors and calipers all needed replacing: $1400. The battery won't hold a full charge (explains why the mechanic was in the battery compartment, recharging the battery so that it would work long enough for someone to buy it) $180. Bad tire, was actually flat by the time I got to Columbus, luckily it is a dually. The oil light was caused by the oil being overfilled. The sales representative is now saying that "sorry, you purchased it as is and it was NEVER in our service department, we just got it in, didn't check it out and sold it as is" .... now even if you were to believe him... what kind of car lot that has a huge service department doesn't check the vehicles out before selling? Buyer beware - do not do business with this car dealer. My experience left me with this observation: shoddy operation. I dealt with Dave Long, a sales/F&I guy who rarely returned my calls, did not look me in the eye when speaking, and has little by way of customer service skills. I was interested in an '03 Ford F-150. The vehicle was being worked on in the bay when I first looked at it, and was told it would be ready to test drive "in an hour." I left planning on returning the next day to drive it, but when I tried to call the store, the number was busy. I called Dave's cell from his business card. He advised the truck would be ready in a couple of hours - then no call back that day, no return call when I left a message. The next day, the store's main line was still out. I called Dave's cell to check in - no answer, no response. I call Dave's cell again the next day, leaving a message advising I have to drive 35 minutes to get there, would like to plan my day since I would have to leave work early to test drive the truck. He calls back and says "give me 20 minutes...the guys are test driving it." Three hours later, I get a text from Dave - "truck is ready." OK, so I go there. I walk in, wait for Dave 10 minutes outside his office - he walks by and a woman that works there says, "This guy (me) is waiting for you." Dave says "really?", and walks straight past me to the back. I stand there thinking "wow," and then I listen to someone else that works there explaining to a kid with his Mom that came in wanting the same truck I'm looking at being told that their phone lines have been down for three days - and that I am buying the truck they want. I say it's not a done deal by any stretch. Dave then appears in a side door and merely waves me over with a head nod for my test drive. I ask him, "You having a bad day, buddy?" and he says "I'm busy. That's why you're not getting quick call backs." Stellar - and no handshake or nothing. I test drive the truck and drive it down to Khan's Auto Repair 3 miles south of 56 Auto Sales (I'll review Khan's separately, but I'll say this - Khan is awesome. He looked over and drove this truck with me - FOR FREE...I'll get to this in a second). I was told by Dave that the brakes had just been fixed - well, they may have put newer pads on, but the brakes were dangerously soft with air in the lines or whatever...to the point that the pedal sank to the floor with every braking. Real nice sending people out to test drive with that shoddy job. I noticed transmission whine in 4H gear and the CD player was blasting static that would not shut off. I get to Khan's. This man is very friendly and smart. After an educated inspection, he advised me not to buy this truck. Clearly abused, he states, and he advised that the brakes were very bad and the transfer case would need to be replaced immediately. To top it off, the truck was not clean...not filthy, but it looked like Armor All was smeared hastily in spots, and there was still dirt most everywhere. Anyway, I arrived back to Dave's office at 56, and he asked if I got a good report. I told him the findings, but I could see he didn't care about my business, had no willingness to work with me. He had clearly sized me up as no fool and therefore not worth his time...probably knew no sale here. That's the kind of man/place this is. I only hope that kid that came in with his Mom as I mentioned above didn't buy that (as advertised) "Beast." Stay away from this place. read more

While traveling across the country, my wife and I experienced a serious mechanical issue with our vehicle. After a Google search and several phone calls, I made the right call to 56 Auto Sales. Noah did an outstanding job towing our vehicle. Jason, at the service counter was extremely accommodating while dealing with my insurance and throughout the entire process. I could not have been happier with the mechanic, Pierce that successfully completed the repairs - saving our trip and our vehicle. The owners, John and Amy are nothing short of amazing. I have often found that employees are a direct reflection of owners/managers. This is very much the case at 56 Auto Sales. Everyone we spoke to was kind, compassionate and caring. Nothing would stop me from recommending this business and their outstanding employees. It would have been easy for an auto repair business to take advantage of my situation in this time of need. This was not the case at 56 Auto Sales. They were extremely fair and did excellent work. My vehicle is continuing to run amazing over 1,000 miles later - no issues whatsoever. Purchased a 2003 Eurovan from this company and was told it had two issues. One, it needed new brake pads. Two, it needed a camshaft sensor replaced. After getting it home and to the shop it needed a total of $6,554.52 in repairs in addition to the two items listed above (it also needed new rotors - not just pads). I had a Volkswagen dealership and a highly regarded independent shop verify the issues. The following items all need replaced: crank sensor, temp control sensor, AC pressure switch resistor, AC compressor, timing chains, guides, adjusters, case adjuster, etc... The manager I spoke to feels they owe me nothing and was unwilling to pay for half of the repairs or buy the vehicle back. The moral of the story is A) don't buy from 56 Auto Sales as they are clearly not interested in being fair with their customers, B) always have a used vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic prior to purchasing - you clearly can't take everyone at their word. This was a hard and expensive lesson to learn. This dealership should be avoided at all costs. They clearly don't have any concern with being fair to their customers. read more

I saved up my money to get my first car and decided to go to 56, despite what other costumes told me about how terrible their cars are I still went. I got the car I liked. My car has been in and out of the shop for not even a year after I got it. Very poor service. Not willing to work with you. Good luck! read more

Had to buy a car here. Just something to get me by until my financial situation starts to look good again. The sales guy, Damon, was very easy to work with. He let me look at and drive the cars I wanted and in the end the decision was completely up to me. When paying such low prices for a car, you should expect an issue or 2. I had a great experience with 56 Auto and would definitely buy from them again. On a side note, you should always take someone with you who's experienced enough with cars to help you pick out a good one. That goes for any used car you buy. read more

NEVER PURCHASE FROM THIS PLACE... They will lie and scam you, the owner is rude and you'll get no where with him. This place is ridiculous and I wouldn't recommend anyone going there. Purchased a vehicle and within 3 days had a leak, a month later needed an entire engine because piston was cracked. They said they had the truck looked at by a dealership near by, so they didn't have to check it out. Then the owner says it was sold as is... as is what your selling us a lemon!!! A new engine is 11k out the door no big deal right? We have maybe driven this truck a handful of times since we purchased it since it was always in the shop broken down. read more
