Mike , simply put, is awesome. We have a 600 lb garage door that was paired to a 1/2 hp side motor. The garage opening and closing was struggling, with the top rollers breaking several times. After some research, I decided to upgrade to a full 1 1/4 hp equivalent liftmaster heavy duty 98032. The installation went great. In addition, I had Mike slightly adjust one side of the rails for smoother operation and he fully lubricated all the rollers and rails. Mike provides a full warranty in case any thing goes awry. 5H came out today to look at our garage door today. He quickly assessed that one lug nut was missing. He charged me $125 to tighten one lug nug (And...even used my ladder). I mentioned that I felt the price was extremely high for what he did. He proceeded to tell me that most contractors don't want you standing over them while they work. I'm sure he did not like me watching what he did. I told him that we are homeowners, and I can watch whomever I want service anything on my property. His response was obnoxious and rude! It took him all of 1 minute to screw the nut. (It took me longer to write the check than to do the work.) My neighbors ask me frequently for referrals. I will NEVER refer 5H to anyone. So, enjoy that $125 because it will certainly be the last check you get from me. So sad, that it's hard to find contractors with integrity. I guess he really needed the money. Enjoy spending it! Had a spring break on Sunday, and I called Mike that day. He picked up and we scheduled for 9am on Tuesday. He gave me a heads up on Tuesday he would be arriving at 9:30am, arriving about 9:20. He did try to upsell me on replacing the door, which granted has some wear and tear, and the quote was on the mid-low end of the Google AI prediction for a similarly sized door. When I declined, he didn't try to push and just took me at my word, which compared to other contractors we've had come out was quite relieving. He did point out a few other things with the door that I should eventually address, but again he didn't push for extra service. He replaced both springs, and noted that a bracket on the door needed replacing, which I had him do as well. He was done by 10:20 with both springs and the bracket. If/when we decide to replace the garage door, we will likely be going back to Mike. read more

Since you can't do half stars, I'll round up from 4.5 to 5. I'll start by saying Mike was extremely responsive when i requested a quote and worked within my time to come meet me. After ordering the door, I was quoted 2-4 weeks, which, given all that is going on seemed quick. About 5 weeks in, I called to get an update and was told it would be 1 more month. The time wasn't really an issue, but i shouldn't have to call to get updates (hence the 4.5 rating) but the door did come in a few days earlier then the extra 1 month. Mike called to let me know, scheduled the appointment for install, was on time and did call 30 min before as requested. There was a small ding that went unnoticed during install, which i discovered shortly after, contacted Mike and he came back to repair. I contacted a few garage door companies, and 5H was comparable to the few other quotes, but I think Mikes professionalism, with 1 small hiccup, is the way to go. Few things disrupt a day like car trouble or a garage door that will not open. I called around a couple of places. One could not promise they could do it today.
