We had an older metal garage door with a panel that had bent, causing the door to jerk open and closed. We figured it would stop working completely before long, so we contacted a garage door company we'd used previously to see if they could repair it. They looked at the panel and said it was too old to replace, and that the door itself was in bad shape. They strongly recommended a new door and motor (they said the motor had to be replaced because of a new law passed in 2018, even though ours was from 2015). The guys seemed nice enough, so I believed them. But I wanted a second quote. ABC Garage Door came out next. I didn't mention anything about the first company. Jaime, the owner, looked at the situation and said I didn't need a new door, just the one panel reinforced. I asked, "No new door?" He said, "Well, if you want a new door I can get you one, but you don't need one." He came back the next day and reinforced the panel in 30 minutes. It runs perfectly now, no more clunking. Responded to my Yelp request within 5 minutes after I inquired after 9pm on a Friday. Showed up and got it fixed in half an hour the next day. Very professional and communicative. Yesterday our garage door stopped working. It would go up 2 ft then stop. It turns out that the tensioner spring broke. They were able to get that fixed so quickly for a very reasonable price. After the repair, they tuned the opener and not only does it work again, it's quieter than it has ever been which is something I've been trying to do by swapping out the rollers and insulating the hinges. I had a Liftmaster Heavy Duty 4690L chain drive garage door opener and my garage door balanced and springs installed by James of ABC Garage Door here in Torrance, I'd had gotten quotes for 5 vendors, and they were right in the middle of price but they were really honest and very efficient and clean, they even hauled away the old door, rail, included door sensors, without charging me. He and Francisco programed the 2 remotes, a wall switch, and keypad, and got done within 2 hours. From a quote on 2/11/26 and installation on 2/13/26 the experience was very good and he was both on time and also he kept in good communication, and most importantly was careful with my stuff in the garage (once I moved both of my cars to the street). What I liked was the pricing and estimate were very clear, and he gave me clear expectations and pricing. Some vendors gave very vague quotes and one required a review even before they gave me a price and was very sketchy with which unit. I liked how he was honest with me about upgrading to an overkill unit for my metal door, and told me to stick with a chain driven unit, as other vendors tried to push belt driven 6960L units for a bit more money. My Garage Door Spring Broke and I called them, they came out next day with heavy springs ready to replace. James balanced the garage door and spring so that it's light as a feather going up and the motor is no longer stressed. I asked for him to change out some rollers I couldn't get on myself and it was no problem. He even added some extra reinforcement to the rails and hinges. Above and Beyond! This is the second time they have come and solved major issue with my garage door in less than an hour ("urgent fix") One of my door springs broke and when I called James and explained my situation (stuck in vaulted garage with my kiddo and better half) he said he would be there in 45-60 min. He arrived right at 45 min and within minutes had our door open and my family and I out. The guys then got to work disassembling the broken spring and replaced them within another 20 min + adjusting what they needed to make sure it was operational and ready to go another 5-10 yrs. He even recommended a higher duty spring set when the now new springs need replacing (5-10 yrs depending on cycle count). James tried to break the pricing down for me as gently as possible given the quick call out and parts being installed, which I appreciated. His rates are extremely reasonable either way for planned or more urgent work. My door sounds and runs so much smoother now even than it did before the broken spring. We've used them over the years back when Frank a wonderful Man who talked us out of getting wood doors because sheet metal is better and out a new opener "Because it's good brand and goes forever" Frank has retired but has trained his employees well. His crew is always pleasant and honest about offering suggestions like what we might do in the future with our 1926 leaky Jerry-rigged doors. I called ABC Garage Door on Monday September 22nd We set a time on Friday 26 th for James to come and look at what I needed. He arrived at my house at 11 o'clock and had a look at the possibility of replacing my current center pull motor with a motor that is attached to the side of the drive rod that opens and closes the door He told me that it was possible to do the job and gave me an estimate which I believed to be a very fair price I told him that I would discuss his proposal and estimate with my wife and let him know in a couple of days. I called him on Saturday morning to tell him that to go ahead with the job and if he needed a deposit or whether I could pay the bill once the installation had been done. He informed me that he definitely needed a 50% deposit to be able to order the motor and that he was actually working in my area installing a garage door for one of his other customers but he could be around my home at about 2-30 on Saturday to pick up the deposit About half an hour later, I received a call from James to say that he actually had the motor on his truck that he was going to use on somebody else's installation later in the week but seeing as how I was at home, he could do the job that afternoon if that would work for me I told him that would be just fine and approximately an hour later, James and his brother Randy arrived at my house and proceeded to do the conversion on my garage door I cannot recommend ABC garage door more highly!! They are courteous and respectful as well as having a great sense of humor! They got on with the job and from the removal of my old garage door motor and Center pull channel to the installation of the new motor. new nylon wheels and new spring. The entire job took maybe an hour an hour. During which time we chatted about all sorts of topics. Before leaving, James explained to me exactly how the new motor works, what to do if it requires fine adjustment and tuning, and that he was available for any questions that I may have during the next couple of days. I do not expect to have any problems or issues because of the professionalism of the installation and the attention to detail that James showed!! And if I do, I feel fully confident that one telephone call to James will fix whatever issue may be having!! It is so satisfying to work with a company that not only guarantees the product, back after 31 years in business hopefully will still be around for at least another 31 years ! ONE WORD: EFFICIENT! We just bought a new house in Lomita and the driveway gate wasn't operable (stuck in the open position). Called a referral from the seller's agent several times and never heard back. Called another company, but they weren't capable of servicing a commercial grade gate. We decided to call ABC Garage Door, they answered on the first call, and were willing to come out the SAME day to inspect the gate. Unfortunately, we weren't able to meet same day, but they sent a tech out the next day to accommodate our schedule. They had us text photos of the gate and hardware so they could be prepared. We received a time window of 4pm-6pm and the tech arrived at 4:15. Within 5 minutes he determined the problem and the gate was fully functional under an hour. Honestly, the knowledge and efficiency of this tech had us shook. We were thinking parts would have to be ordered, a second visit would be required etc etc. couldn't be more thrilled to have our problem solved so quickly. James is the BEST! Not even close. My HOA gave me a lot of trouble with my garage door and James was flexible and gave me alternatives and good suggestions throughout the whole process. He also took care of setting up the wireless opener, programmed the car remotes with my HOA gate so I only had to use one remote, and cleaned up and hauled the old door away.
