Their breakfast and lunch menu is vast and so reasonably priced. They dont serve donuts here, but the atmosphere and bagels are so good who cares? Super clean inside and it's fairly larger than your other mom and pop donut/bagel places. One tip I would give you is to come there earlier to have all the bagel flavor options available. Today, I went into 5th Ave Bagelry for the second time I was denied service. My wife was asked what bagel she would like, and she selected no problem. I gave my order, however, one of the girls came from the back pulled the basket of bagels, and told me I could not have them. Did I ask her why? yes, but she did not give me an answer. I told her I was a paying customer. She look at me and said nothing. I said, "I would leave with my wife and that they would lose my business". She told me "fine" go. I was shocked. Out of anger, I said, "Is it because I'm brown?". I was even more surprised when her answer was "Yes". My wife and I just looked at each other and left the store. This was not the first time that this employee did not allow me to get what I order. The first time I thought it was just a communication problem. This time it was plain disrespect. I usually go to another really good bagel shop on the other side of corona but really wanted a bagel, so I went here. I got a ham egg and cheese on a cranberry bagel, and it was so bland. The egg tasted like it was just microwaved, the bagel didn't really have any cranberry flavor and it was very thin. I would not recommend this place. read more

This place has been here for a really long time and it's always the same. In a good way. Even though it's busy in the mornings, you're always greeted. They have several types of bagels. My favorite is the sun dried tomato. You don't need to have the basic bagel with cream cheese, they also offer bagel sandwiches. They come with chips or potato or macaroni salad. I did not visit this place, but this past Friday I won a bet and the wager was a bagel sandwhich from 5th Ave. I perused the reviews and requested a World Bagel with cucumbers, spicy mustard and greens. My bagel arrived fresh, thick and it looked great. Some one else previously wrote a review about it and seemed upset that it did not have enough meta in it however, it does. I don't think that person knows what a proper serving of protein is for a meal. It was hearty, thick and suited me well. And mind you, I am not a dainty chick who eats like a bird. I can eat. I got a World Bagel Sandwitch and it had 3 pieces of meat on it, turkey, roast beef, and i think pastrami, very small amount of meat and it was roughly $6. I got a custom Roast Beef Roasted Tomato Bagel w/ Extra meet, Normal cost is ~$6 and they charged almost $3 for extra meat. In total, 2 begal sandwiches cost me ~ $15. This was exorbitantly priced. I compare this meal with Bagels & Brew in Aliso Viejo / Lake Forest and they are similarly priced and you get much more for your money. The prices are crazy reasonable (~$5.25 bagel sandwich and $2.50 latte). The personality of the staff was on par with a cardboard box but I didn't care. My bagel was delish and they used Hershey syrup for the chocolate in the mocha. That made my adulthood. Hershey syrup?!?!??! Seriously?! #winning Man I wished I lived closer. Oh well. Really good place for lunch. The lady at the counter was super friendly. I had the Corona bagel, and it was absolutely delicious. Prices are about average. I did use the check in offer for a free small drink, when i showed the lady, she just smiled and "of course!" And gave me my free drink. Only downside is the location, rimpau and magnolia, worse place a small business could establish if you ask me because of the horrible traffic. Lost in space... I walked in and what I assumed was the owner (short lady) didn't turn around and bother to greet me or say anything. She was so engrossed in cleaning that she didn't notice that a customer walked into her place of business. After studying the menu for a couple of minutes trying to decide what to order the gal behind the counter greeted me...half-halfheartedly. Where's the energy people?! This is 8am in the morning. I was going to get a couple of bagels to take home, but I wasn't feeling the "love' here and I wasn't going to spend any more money here other than what I had just ordered. She recommended #9 and #10, but everything sounded so good. The shop offers more than 12 different bagel flavors and also offers a variety of pastries. We ended up choosing #8 the World Club on Sun dried Tomato bagel and #9 the Corona on Spinach Parmesan bagel. The sandwich comes toasted with a side choice of pasta or potato salad. You can also get a complimentary small soda beverage from checking into Yelp. Total came out to be $11 and some change. Red onion, Mayo and Dijon mustard are used in the sandwiches we picked, so be sure to ask to remove those items if you don't prefer them in your sandwiches. The bagel comes toasted and has the perfect crunch on the outside and softness on the inside. Moreover, the ingredients tasted fresh and definitely satisfied our cravings. I think I found my new local bagel spot! Right when you walk in, you'll notice I'm not alone. Good selection of fresh bagels and sandwiches. I got the Heavenly Veggie, although not heavenly, but rather good. My GF got the Newport Beach which she really liked. The service was fast and attentive. Workers know their customers, asking if they want the "usual"... which shows they care. Get there early, I noticed they run out of the more popular bagels. I've eaten here for the past couple of decades whenever I'm in town and really love the options for a hearty breakfast bagel. This spot is comparable to to great bagel shops in NYC. The freshly made cream cheese, strawberry being my favorite always tastes like heaven in my mouth. The fact that a simple bagel can taste better than an entire breakfast platter baffles me. However I never comps in when I eat here. I actually used to hope that they would make more locations but I recognize the value in keeping this location uniquely special. The location is in a shopping plaza that had taken several face lifts but they have remained consist in their quality. I hope that this place continues to stick to their great service and quality food. OK, here's the deal. Maybe I'm spoiled with Panera's delicious veggie spread but I think there should be no excuse for what this place calls veggie spread. It is weird, yellow, and with mere specs of veggies - I'm pretty sure its butter (instead of cream cheese) with pureed veggies. Blech. Not a pleasant surprise when you order your bagel spreaded and ready to go and you chomp on it in the car. But I gave it another shot, with good ole fashioned cream cheese and was quite happy. The managers here are so friendly. I had a bagel from here because someone from work brought it to me for breakfast. Now I came in person for the first time yesterday and the yummy food and friendly service brought me back today. This will be my new Starbucks they have reasonable prices and everything is clean.
