Moved in 2023. During the tour I asked repeatedly about noises. I was assured the apartment is quiet just normal apartment noises. We ended up living above the yoga studio from which we can hear every word, I can literally transcribe conversations. We brought this up to management multiple times during the first year, we were given an option to break the lease, or move to a different unit. Unfortunately before we could I was given military orders for six months, leaving my wife by herself. She endured and had to renew the lease since we could not afford movers to help her. We did ask to be notified if another apartment opened and she could move there at her pace. The apartment NEXT door was available and we were never notified. As soon as I came back I mentioned the noise is still unbearable, but front desk staff here changes every 3 months. When I finally spoke with the leasing manager Haley, she basically told me tough luck, your choice is to either pay cancellation, or move to an apartment that costs more. read more

Do not rent here. Staff is rude had to replace shower heads as soon as I moved in. Paid $5,000.00 to break lease and now they want rent as well. Threatening collections. read more

Loved everything about our apartment itself. I work from home and took immaculate care of this space. However, we just got a "final balance due" bill of over $1,100 (after we paid our full year's worth of rent, ON TIME). $800 of those charges were for "painting needed". Half the apartment is brick!!! Mindful of the fact there were some holes I patched from hanging artwork but $800? There was minimal paint damage when we left. All in all, great units, bad service and management. They don't care about you at all. Four different front office people have worked there during the one year my girlfriend and I were there. Residents don't clean up after their animals. Utility bills are high, and the deck is an extreme liability too. read more

I have lived here for 2 years in different units (1 bed w/den and townhouse). I have lived both units because of their uniqueness and vintage feel. Units include water which is nice. Downside with utilities is that Comcast and att have trouble setting up because of the old building (happened in both of my units). Very spacious for the price and amazing location. 10 min walk to downtown Naperville and right next to the Naperville train station. I never hear the train except sometimes when a large freight is going past and I am listening for it. New management coming in is iffy. Love Haley in the office... she is knowledgeable, reasonable, organized and very kind. Lots of renovations going on that are making the building more modern, but I feel that it is taking away from the vintage feel that is so rare nowadays. Residents were also not notified before these renovations began and the workmanship has seemed really cheap so far. We will see how it goes. The gym is nice and locker rooms have a sauna. Grills on the deck but usually people leave the gas running so use is spOverall, I have loved living here. Maintenance is usually pretty responsive and haven't had any major issues. Love the old charm of the building and hope it doesn't change too much in the renovations. UPDATING MY REVIEW I am updating my review down from 4 to 2 stars because management is basically forcing me out after 2.5 years. I love my unit, but management has not handled renovations well (they have been going on almost a year and have not updated us and have caused trouble with our wireless connection) and while they are prompt, we have recently been unhappy with maintenance and the cleanliness. First, management gave us 3 options... move out, move to a different unit (we have a townhouse and all they have available for us to move into is a studio or tiny one bedroom) or move all of our stuff out for 2 weeks so they can renovate and change us $450 more per month. It seems as if you are going to force someone to move, you should at least be able to provide a comparable option. We have been so disappointed with the way it was handled. It also says in our lease that they were supposed to notify us in person or via mail which did not happen (small issue but if you're going to put it in writing you should follow through). The gym has also been recently in bad shape. There is a bloody stain on one of the machines that has been there for months and in all the time I have lived here the floor has never been vacuumed (hair everywhere). The locker room shower curtains are moldy and it has recently smelled very unclean. Also had snow literally falling from our sky light this winter. While it was handled promptly, I was very uncomfortable with the fact that the maintenance guy said "it's supposed to do that". I have a hard time believing it should be snowing inside unless this is the Hogwarts great room. It was handled the next day but seemed very unprofessional. It's a cool building with a great location but the renovations are not worth the money when there are other places around that have more amenities for a lot less. It's lost some of its antique charm with the renovations and sadly will not be a place I return to. read more

I could not imagine a worse experience. This place is awful, the front office staff (if they're still the same people) are completely apathetic and careless and sometimes incompetent, and the apartments are extremely cheaply built. I made the mistake of signing up for a $2700+ newly renovated unit, which turned out to be a nightmare. When I turned key and walked in, I was shocked to see a boarded up window, which I was told would be replaced by the time I was set to move in. It remained boarded up for two months after this. Clearly, the front office staff never put in a work order and never actually stepped foot into the unit itself. Once the window was put in, several weeks followed until blinds were added because they weren't ordered at the same time as the window, meaning all neighbors were welcome to look into the apartment. On top of this, the front office claimed that the unit was cleaned before my move in date, but it was clearly not. This is not me being picky. When I ran my hand along the countertop, my entire hand was gray with dust. There were also construction nails on the floor. No cleaner had stepped foot into that unit. The office must have blatantly lied about it. The brick has nice character at first - until you keep looking at it and notice all kinds of discoloration and powder on it. And when you look up, don't be shocked to see holes in the ceiling showing exposed insulation (yay fiberglass!). Lastly, the walls are EXTREMELY thin. FULL LENGTH conversations of neighbors can be heard. Total nightmare. I broke the least, wasted my money, and got out of there. Horrendous experience. Nothing luxurious about this place. Don't be fooled by the nice pictures online and the close proximity to restaurants, bars, cafes, etc. It is NOT worth it. If I could rate this place negative stars, I would. read more

It's not bad. Problem is that the outdoor deck is basically the smoking area. If your apartment faces this deck, you might not be able to even open your windows (but if you're a smoker, hey maybe that's a benefit). If they prohibited smoking there and moved it to the back of the building on the first floor, that would probably be better and healthier for everyone. read more

We recently had a problem with our ceiling leaking at 8:30 on a Thursday night. We called the emergency maintenance line, which was promptly answered. The gentleman asked several knowledgeable questions about the leak, then explained that because we've had such wet, heavy snow, combined with rain and melting, a small leak in such an old building could happen (we are on the top floor of the building.) Furthermore, the gentleman went on to explain that he himself would not be working the next day, but his partner would be by first thing to clear the snow off of our roof, which he believed would stop the leak. Dear reader, "first thing" was promptly at 7:45am. The gentleman scraped snow for half an hour, came down to ensure that it worked, and when it didn't quite do the trick, he went back up and scraped for another forty five minutes! This was also when we found out that the gentleman we spoke to the night before had gone out of his way to call the contractor that 5th Avenue employs to make these repairs the night before, ensuring that as soon as the roof was dry enough for a patch, we would be a priority! I'm happy to report our ceiling is now dry as a bone, and we are happy campers. We love 5th Avenue Station, and would recommend it to any one of our friends - and you too! The amenities and the location simply cannot be beaten, plus the units are all beautiful! read more

The good: Neat old building in great location. Renovated apartment was done well. Things get fixed timely. The bad: The noise between the units is loud. You will hear everything your neighbors are doing. Tip - When you move out, make sure to get a receipt for the keys, etc you turn back in. I absolutely turned in both sets of keys when I moved out. A few weeks later they contacted me and said I only turned in one set and charged my deposit for the "lost" keys. read more

This review is based on my experience with the management office. I do not live here and I don't think I want to live here. The customer service and sales "pitch" was the absolute worst. After looking at the website a few times I went into the leasing office to get more information on leasing an apartment. The girl in the office basically handed me a folder and said (with typical Naperville attitude) "You should look at the website. We have hundreds of floor plans so yeah that's really all I can do" (I already looked at the website...that's why I showed up in person) She didn't go over any pricing, show me any amenities, or even talk about the building. Her only question to me/the only thing she really said was along the lines of"Oh you're looking for an apartment? When are you planning to move because I don't know when anything will be available" So basically what I've gathered from this encounter is that management is lazy and they don't really care. The place has the potential to be really awesome. Its a great location and the building, it self, has so much history and even just looks cool....but none of that matters if the people running the joint don't care. The only reason this has 2 stars is because of the building itself. Staff gets zero stars, if I could. read more

Great location for a commuter. Places are nice, not great, small and nice. They are over priced but they can because of their proximity to the metra, the 3 metra monthly parking lots have a 8-12 year waiting list so people will pay for the walking distance luxury...I too have had difficulties with management while inquiring about their apartments. Both times I've tried they just shoot their overpriced number at me right away and say they want a potential move in date asap because they are most likely not going to have any available units. I have friends that live in here and though they say that like it I think they are more so doing that to make their rent payments justifiable to themselves. Here's my major gripes: 1) the outdoor deck area can be bigger, updated and more welcoming that what they have now. 2) the fact that they charge you $200+ dollars to use their common area with the tv and kitchen at any time is just cruel. It's an amenity of the building that is shown on the website as a great area to relax but not made available to their residents. I think it should be a open area that can be reserved for a smaller fee, and it should be regulated by the residents themselves. 3) parking 4) people you don't know are roaming around the ground floor of that building all day and it could get annoying read more

About a year ago when deciding to live together for the first time, my boyfriend and I chose 5th Ave train station. This decision couldn't have been made any easier. The convenience to the train for his commute to the city, the short walk to downtown Naperville, and the apartment amenities themselves have made this adventure much more exciting/convenient. The apartments are now being renovated and look absolutely beautiful, with that being said the non-renovated units where I live are still very beautiful filled with character. The new management team has also greatly improved and made us feel much more at home. With monthly newsletters and fun things like "cupcake appreciation day", small things like this make living in an apartment building much more tolerable. I really do love living here, and can't wait for the building to become fully renovated! read more

I am not sure what the apartments are like, but the bathrooms for the offices at 5th ave station are terrible. Allegedly they were supposed to renovate the bathrooms as it reminds me of a 1960s era high school bathroom. There are not any metered air fresheners and on an average day it smells horrible and the toilet seats are loose. To top it off there has been only one properly working sink in the bathroom for over a year, so you are forced to wash your hands under a trickle of water while someone uses the working sink to wash his feet or whatever they are doing over there. read more
