That same staff member helped me figure out what I wanted, and was very upfront with the pricing (which I greatly appreciated). He gave me a wait time, and introduced me to the artist (Crystal - who is AWESOME, professional, and knowledgeable). After I chose my tattoo design and decided upon the size (Crystal gave me a couple of options), I had to sign a consent form. I've also gotten nipple piercings here and the people that work here are so chill and make you feel so comfortable. They are great conversationalists. One my favorite artist name is Sergio. You get free touch ups on your tattoos for life. They have a minimum $ but they've gone below their minimum tattoo amount depending on the design. You don't need to spend over $200 on a little simple tattoo in NYC. This shop is always doing promotional offers like $100 summer sale tattoos. Best experience ever! I had my first tattoo here done on a whim! I was taken in as a walk in and got the most beautiful and original piece of art tattooed by Crystal. Crystal was so down to earth and so kind to me through the entire process making me feel so comfortable and excited! Normally don't like to leave bad reviews but I personally had a bad experience with ear piercings. I have lots of experience with piercings, I've had nearly 20 before without much issue. However, the piercer here was extremely slow; 3 piercings took almost an hour and this raised alarm with me. Normally they should be quick. They also struggled with certain spots, even needing to pierce twice in one area. Finally, the bars used were much too short and, combined with the sketchy process, caused my healing to be extremely painful (keloids, blood, etc) and required me to change out the jewelry elsewhere. They said it was pretty badly infected. Not giving it one star because only the less common ear piercings caused issue; I think you would be safe with facials like nose or eyebrows or simple common lobes. read more

Walked into 6Skulls and the minimum is $100/$150 depending on what you get! I ended up getting a Poppy from Surg and his line work is AMAZING! Needle was so small I couldn't see with my eyes lol. After a botched lobe piercing job from Claire's with a gun, my original lobe piercings look like second holes. Joanna did my new "first" holes. They look amazing and are healing well, even with being a side sleeper! She was quick, precise, and friendly. The piercing area was sore when the jewelry was first put in and a bit tender the day after. Well, a needle was pushed through me so that's to be generally expected. Other than that, I had no pain or discomfort. My money was well spent. Claire's is great for hair accessories, but I encourage everyone to get piercings with a free hand needle. read more

I came here to get a double helix piercing and l would not recommend anyone to get piercings from the lady with short hair and a lot of tattoos. I've gotten multiple cartridge and ear piercings, and none of them have never hurt more than a wince, some didn't even hurt, and none have bled. During the process of getting my ears pierced, the lady had to redraw the dots for where to pierce it 3 times. After that, she proceeded to pierce it from the back, where the dots were not visible. The piercings are not aligned with the dots at all: the front of the piercing was semi-aligned with the dots, but the back is completely crooked and not straight with the front. After the first piercing, my ear started bleeding and I asked her why it hurt so much when my other piercings have not. She started blaming me and saying I should not have gotten two piercings at once and proceeded to pierce the second hole when l was pulling away in visible pain. After the piercings were done, there was blood all over my shirt and two napkins and the piercer try to not acknowledge it. My ear was swollen and red immediately after the piercing, but now it is purple and looked bruised. read more

I came in for a walk-in ear lobe piercing (my first one ever) and everyone at 6 Skulls was awesome. I was born with dimples on my ears, and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep them. Nidal and Kaia, who did my piercing, were adamant that I keep what made me special, and placed my earrings PERFECTLY so that I could have both. Kaia was super chill, easy to talk to and great at explaining everything as she went, and took her time measuring to make sure my holes were perfectly lined up. I got my second tattoo done here, and decided to do it kind of on a whim, and I found this place because it was open late and had good reviews. I'm so glad I got it done here. The staff is so sweet, and I had my tattoo done on my rib cage, so my friend and I sat in the basement behind a privacy screen. Gabriel did my tattoo and was super professional and adjusted the curve of the quote that I wanted, and cleaned up some lines because it was my own hand writing, but he gave me some options. He also showed me the ink packet expiration date before, asked me what music that I liked, and played that the whole time. I came in to 6 Skulls as a walk today in on a whim for a simple 3rd earlobe piercing I have been wanting to get for a while now. Finn was behind the counter and was super sweet and attentive. He apologized for the "strong plant smell," - which I didn't mind at all, but was thoughtful and professional. Hey, it's legal, and it's a tattoo shop! Finn also did my piercing, which was quick and painless. He was careful to warn me about a wobbly chair, had a steady hand, and asked if I had any questions. Again, thoughtful and kind. The end result looks super cute and dainty, exactly what I wanted. The cost of the piercing itself was $15, with added costs for jewelry ranging in price from 40-150+ per piece based on the metal. A bit expensive, but the going rate based on other places I have indecisively stopped into over the years. All around a good experience :) read more

It was March 15th of this year and there were a lot of flash tat and piercing going on, my first intention was to go to village pop because I had done research on them and found them to be good. There were so many people that my friends and I couldn't get on line because they closed it. So we decided to go to a different one, this one and I got my helix done with a guy with glasses who honestly seemed like he didn't know what the hell he was doing. I even kept telling my friend if we should do our piercing there, but we were impatient and I regret saying yes. She got her industrial and tragus done and this guy pierced her tragus crooked so now she can't even wear a straight bar. It has so be a hoop like how can you mess that up so bad?? And her industrial was not at the right angle so because of the pressure she now has a keloid. My helix earring turned blue/green like if it was a fantasy earring and I was freaking out. I paid 90 dollars for this piercing AND flower earring for it to turn green??? They have to be so cheap for an earring to turn green! Not to mention it was rusting at the top. I had to physically take it off my self because no shops are open right now and I'm furious because I spent so much money on this bs. I will never EVER go back here and I warn everyone who is getting a piercing to BE CAREFUL. A fantasy earring is harmful to your body ESPECIALLY when it's a brand new piercing you just got. I wish I had something positive to say but hell no. I DON'T. Their piercer sucks and I regret going to get my helix pierced there. read more

They always participate on Friday the 13th, which I think is pretty awesome for such a high quality tattoo shop. Don't come here for piercings. For how much I paid, I was incredibly disappointed with the piercer. She reminded me more of my friends from high school who aspired to be piercers and tattoo artists, than an actual piercer. She pierced me on my inhale-- twice. She really fumbled with the jewelry and made it an unnecessarily painful and uncomfortable experience. Gave me no aftercare instructions or information on my jewelry. The other staff there made me feel unwelcome. The placement of both piercings i got here are off, and one of the bars is ridiculously long. After reading other reviews, it's safe to say that this is NOT the place to go if you want a piercing. read more
