Like most grandparents trying to survive a shopping trip with a toddler, I handed my grandson a cheap little $6 jump rope in a box to keep him occupied. Apparently, this was my first mistake. When I got to checkout, the employee informed me that I was required to purchase the jump rope because my 1-year-old had put it in his mouth. I was stunned. In all my years of shopping, I have never encountered such an absurd and unreasonable demand. The item was boxed, undamaged, and perfectly sellable. Yet I was treated as though my toddler had somehow rendered it unusable. What happened next was even worse. When I questioned the policy, another employee with purple hair inserted herself into the conversation with a shockingly hostile attitude. Rather than calmly explaining the situation, she was confrontational, dismissive, and unnecessarily rude. Her behavior was completely unprofessional and reflected terribly on the store. Customer-facing employees should know how to speak to people respectfully, especially when dealing with a reasonable question from a paying customer. If this is truly store policy, then management should make it clearly visible instead of allowing employees to spring it on customers at checkout. More importantly, management should seriously address how these employees interact with customers. Their conduct was unacceptable and deserves immediate attention. No customer should be spoken to in the manner I was. I paid for the jump rope simply because I wanted to end the unpleasant interaction, and then I put back the approximately $200 worth of toys I had intended to purchase. After being treated so poorly, there was no chance I was rewarding that behavior with additional business. What bothered me most was not the six dollars. It was the appalling customer service. I have shopped here many times before and have always had positive experiences. This encounter was completely different. The employees involved were rude, aggressive, and seemed far more interested in creating conflict than helping a customer. I sincerely hope management reviews this incident and reprimands the employees involved. Their behavior was unacceptable, damaging to the store's reputation, and ultimately cost the business a loyal customer and hundreds of dollars in sales. I hope the $6 jump rope was worth them losing a $200 sale and all other future sales. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others to expect better treatment elsewhere. No wonder this business only has 2 1/2 stars . The guy who was the first to demand payment was Ernesto.

They also have the cutest little play area and section of wooden trains for the kids to play with. My daughter's favorite! Selection of toys is mostly wooden ranging from puzzles to kitchen and pretend play furniture. The value is so worth it. They also have make believe dress up costumes/outfits, books, sensory natural playdough, etc. always a stop after we go finish the farmers market.

I appreciate they quality of the toys they carry and how they most gear towards imaginative play. They even have the ABCs in braille thank you for selling things like this. It's so hard to find adaptive toys in person. I also love that they have a play area for kids to enjoy while parents shop. I can tell that you are really here to serve the community and you care about the littles. The woman who was there when I went was so kind and attentive. She did not hover over me (I was the only one in the store at the time) but she gave me my space to look around. Great quality toys, awesome service, and genuine care towards kids is what your shop radiates to me and I love it. I hope you stay open for a really long time. These are the stores I like to have available to visit and support.

I rearranged my schedule and made time to come back based on what your staff told me. When I arrived today, I was told they still weren't out yet. When I asked if there was anything they could do since I was specifically instructed to come back at that time, the employee at the front basically acted indifferent and just said there was nothing they could do. I've been in retail for years, and entering inventory into a system is not some massive impossible task. This honestly came across as laziness and a complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction. Don't tell customers to come back at a specific time if you're not actually prepared to follow through. Traffic and gas prices in Southern California are terrible. People are spending real time and money to come support your business, so at least be considerate of that when making promises to customers. I understand inventory processing takes time, but communication and effort matter. A simple apology or attempt to help would have gone a long way. The store is large and packed with product, but there also weren't many customers there, which makes the lack of urgency even more frustrating. The owner should seriously consider improving management and customer service standards because experiences like this are exactly why customers stop coming back.
