Had the BIRRIA plate and I gotta admit it was TASTY!!! Got it to go and it came with 4 prepped tortillas (oil dipped & warm), onion, cilantro, lemon and radish slices to put on tacos. The last at the counter was super friendly and helpful, the cook right behind her for my food out quick and hot so I didn't have to warm anything up at home!! The expansion of 664 TJ Birria in San Diego continues with this location in Logan Heights on the corner of Ocean View and S. 28th Street. I had the half order of beef birria which came with six warm corn tortillas, chopped and cilantro, and house radished and lime for $7. It was a good deal. The beef birria soup was quite tasty, perhaps a little on the salty side, but good nevertheless. It came with a good amount of tender shredded beef which is terrific eating out of the bowl or for making tacos out of the corn tortillas they serve with the meal. They were certainly good eating, especially with house hot sauce. It was some hot stuff, so I had to back off a bit. There is no question they make quality beef birria here. However, they need to tightened up the ship. First of all, they need to make sure the menus are cleaned daily. The one I was given was splattered with soup. The flour had bottle caps on it for some reason, and they need to be a little quicker on taking orders from patrons after they arrive. I was twiddling my thumbs for a little long on this visit. It's not even close to how it was before. First customer service is not good it seems like they don't even want to be their and forced to be there. Second they Bearly give any condiments(FYI they usually only give 2 salsas that are half full). Third their tacos are dry and plain now. Not to add but also their prices sky rocketed. The only reason why I a don't give them 5 starts is because on multiple occasions, when I have ordered food to go, I never get my full order and I realize it once I'm already home. This is my first review, but after eating here, I just had to because of the bad experience I had. I live in the area and would always see this place and wanted to stop by but never did. I regret eating there, eventhough this place is clean too bad I can't say anything positive about their service and food. I ordered a quesabirria and what I got was a very greasy small thin tortilla with a little bit of meat and sprinkled with shredded cheese that was not even melted, it looked like a child made it. I checked with the server to confirm this was my order which she did. Wow , this was garbage and it's sad because it's a Mexican owned restaurant, I expected authenticity. I was very disappointed and called my sister told let her know while talking to her, the server was sweeping and I just heard a guy's voice say something and she responded, oh she had the quesabirria but I'll tell you the chisme when I'm done sweeping, I was like really? I told her I could hear what she's saying. Absolutely horrible customer service. Upon entering we were told to seat ourselves & sat completely unattended for 15 minutes. It was not busy, there was about 3 other tables, that they would attend. Came here so hung over order a large to go Birria here is amazing okay their meat is great quality and is not greasy. I'm so happy it opened close to home been meaning to come and check it out and then Covid hit. They have outside seating also which is nice to have remember to call ahead sometimes is so busy highly recommend you ask for extra hot sauce and cilantro and onion and they give you a good amount of tortillas but I always ask for more because you have to make tacos out of two so it doesn't break. Today was the second time I went. The birria is good I've had better but it's close to home and not too bad where I'd never come back lol. I like that they cook their tortillas with the consume and they give tortillas,onion, cilantro, limes, and one salsa. Which is usually enough for me. This comes with the half order I usually get and this feeds me all day usually. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because the cashiers aren't very welcoming and seem in a bad mood when you ask a question. They also don't sell rice which I like eating with birria so I usually have to go elsewhere if I really want some. The last thing I'd like to say is that when you pay cash, out of both times I came they do not give the correct change. Now the first time I figured it was an honest mistake but now two times. Even if it's not much cause the 1/2 is $8 and change and I give a $10 I figured ok, take it as a tip but also don't just keep it. Only to take the first bite, and realize I was eating a bowl of red oily water, with meat in it. The flavor was missing, I thought oh no, I can't taste. I then had my wife try it, and she said it was gross. NO FLAVOR!!! Just oily water. I was so disappointed. I paid $12 bucks for this. No way, down the street Next to Chicano park there is a food truck with Mariscos and Birria, they make a way better birria than this. I am from T.
