The expansion of 664 TJ Birria in San Diego continues with this location in Logan Heights on the corner of Ocean View and S. 28th Street. I had the half order of beef birria which came with six warm corn tortillas, chopped and cilantro, and house radished and lime for $7. It was a good deal. The beef birria soup was quite tasty, perhaps a little on the salty side, but good nevertheless. It came with a good amount of tender shredded beef which is terrific eating out of the bowl or for making tacos out of the corn tortillas they serve with the meal. They were certainly good eating, especially with house hot sauce. It was some hot stuff, so I had to back off a bit. There is no question they make quality beef birria here. However, they need to tightened up the ship. First of all, they need to make sure the menus are cleaned daily. The one I was given was splattered with soup. The flour had bottle caps on it for some reason, and they need to be a little quicker on taking orders from patrons after they arrive. I was twiddling my thumbs for a little long on this visit. Other than that, keep on making that tasty beef birria!

If you're looking for birria tacos look no further. That's their speciality. The menu is limited and they only see is birria tacos. The flavors were great. The one server and cashier was very nice and fast with our food.

***DURING COVID REVIEW*** THEY HAVE OUTDOOR DINING AVAILABLE! And not to mention, you can also get a car wash/detail while you dine! Quesabirria tacos! Slightly crispy taco shell, tender juicy flavored birria, with a little cheese, some onions and cilantro. Flavorful and delicious! And get a side of Consome, which is basically the birria soup, so you can dip your tacos in them! Just two tacos was enough to fill up each person! Definitely recommend and would come here again!

These are the "BIRRIA TACOS" . Very embarrassing how they downgraded. Tortilla isn't even fully covered and the birria is so DRY.

I'm honestly disappointed how much they changed. I would recommend the place before to everyone because of how juicy and tasty their Birria tacos were. But now it's a black hole. It's not even close to how it was before. First customer service is not good it seems like they don't even want to be their and forced to be there. Second they Bearly give any condiments(FYI they usually only give 2 salsas that are half full). Third their tacos are dry and plain now. Not to add but also their prices sky rocketed. I know many things went up in price, but at least keep the same quality as before? I will not be coming again nor do I recommended you wasting your money here.

The only reason I give this place a 4 I used my card & the card machine went haywire TIP:$$ only. Other than that VISIT..

Took the girlfriends out to try a new spot! First time having Birria tacos. SO delicious! We all got the queso Birrias and they were wonderful! I even drank the left over consommé! Due to COVID-19 dining is outside and everyone is wearing masks. Not much shade, so wear some sunscreen! Great place to eat, will definitely go again!!

Omg the "quesabirria" tacos are so good! The service is alright since they have teens-young adults serving. I was served the first time very well bcuz the waitress had been working a while there. The third and fourth time I had a you g guy serve me and the service wasn't as great but - the tacos were worth it. I took many photos too

The service is great. The food is great. Never had any issues coming here, Definitely my go to birria spot!

Great food and excellent service. The meat is tender and the tacos were all good. We will surely be back again when in SD.

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

Outside is a corn tempura with a tomato base sauce. Pulpo-grilled octopus, one of the best texture and perfectly grilled skin with a chewy yet soft interior. The sauce has a slight kick and crunch from the corn nuts. Crab corn doughnut- this is their specialty and we were about to skip out but glad we didn't. The brioche bun had a donut batter with lumps of crab salad and corn mixture on top. El Festin- perfect for our party of 4 because it was a platter full of 4 Cheese quesadilla, 4 shrimp, 4 chicken slices, 1 jalapeño bacon wrap, ribeye. Flan-we should have each ordered one ourselves! Great flavors and texture, the top had ancient chocolate soil and had crispy corn nuts. Different but yummy.
