I rate restaurants with my OAT method: Overall experience - My husband and I stopped here in Florence on a rainy day to grab some food. With a storm blowing in we were craving some clam chowder. Homegrown did satisfy that craving! Unfortunately, service was a little slow because there was only one waiter. Luckily, we were in no rush. Appearance - The warm string lights created a nice, cozy vibe. (Maybe the rained helped too!) Overall, the food was plated well. Taste- Garlic Parmesan fries- mmm so delicious with a yummy aioli to dip them in! Would highly recommend! Caution if you're sensitive to garlic... be aware that the parmesan can easily be mistaken for garlic chunks! Steamers- My husband got this and said it was very fresh and he enjoyed the broth. I tried it but I'm not a huge wine person and to me the broth was very heavy wine flavored. Fried Fish Cod Sandwich- Unfortunately I learned on this outing that I don't really love cod. Had dinner last evening and both our meals and service were excellent. I had fish and chips cod. I'd have to say tier 1 outstanding. Panko crusted and not oily. Very light to eat just incredible. Such a quaint beautiful place to eat. The moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile and given a choice of where we wanted to sit even though the sign said "wait to be seated". They have a delicious selection of food and i chose to have the mediterranean naan wrap with fries the wrap was filled with blackened chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, romain lettuce and a garlic aioli sauce. The portions were big and the wrap was absolutely delicious. I had a chocolate stout beer to go with it that was locally brewed and it too was amazing. Be prepared to wait for a table. Homegrown was conceived by two Florence native's love for food and has been family owned & operated since 2012. The menu is seasonal, made-from-scratch, and highlights northwest food & beverages, including craft beers (some made on the premises) & Kombucha on tap, cider, wines & spirits as well as CBD infused cocktails. I'd describe the inside diningroom as rustic and homey. Nothing fancy. Perfectly comfortable, like being at home, but better. Homegrown is the kind of place you'd be comfortable wearing your Birkenstock's (there's an outside patio where well-behaved dogs are welcome too.) All ADA accessible with plenty of room between most tables to maneuver a mobility aid. Parking is right out front too. My favorite dish was the beet & quinoa salad: mixed greens, quinoa, house made pickled beets (just like my Nanny used to make), goat cheese, house made hazelnut aillade (a simple, rustic French sauce made from pounded nuts, raw garlic, and olive oil) and a choice of dressing. Add a protein to this like seared or blackened salmon, smoked tuna, or a grilled chicken breast and you have a complete and very filling entree. I highly recommend this dish. Being of that particular generation, the other menu item who's name also made me laugh was the "Hippie Elitist Burger": a made in-house vegan chia seed & chickpea patty, served with house made kimchi (YUMM-O) and vegan mayonnaise. Along with lettuce & tomato, the house made pickled onions were the "cherry on top", so to speak. Absolutely amazing! And I'm not a vegan by any means. Waitstaff are great. The town of Florence is quite small; after walking past about 4 restaurants, we decided on homegrown public house (because we both don't like seafood, which is the main attraction here). The restaurant was cute, with a lot of charm and a fun "pass it forward" beer wall. The food was great, and the staff was extremely attentive to my nut allergy- the chef came out to make sure that all the ingredients in my salad were okay for me to eat. Awesome !!! We finally made it to Home grown ! We've tried to get there numerous times and every time they weren't open . Well it was worth the wait ! I got the Forager burger and fries and it was scrumptious and the fries were perfect , my wife got a sandwich that she let me taste and all I can say is oh my ! Then even our teacup poodle had the doggie meatloaf ! Did I mention Dogs are welcome !!! We even met Gus the owners new white puppy and our lil buddy had a nice meet and greet ! A homegrown pub it's just around the corner from Bay Street, all the activities on Bay Street. It's easy to forget about homegrown pub. Go here you will not regret it. They have outdoor seating when the weather is mild, which is most of the time the food is wonderful. They have some unusual choices. They have lots of vegetarian and vegan options. A huge list of micro brewed beer if that's your thing. It's a small restaurant and they are generally busy so don't expect to be in and out in 10 minutes. They often have live music as well usually a guitar player. They have a gluten-free clam chowder that is outstanding. The fish sandwich here is one of the best. If you're downtown looking for some good food, I recommend the homegrown pub. read more

Virtually every ingredient was out. The Cook who was attentive and over hearing offered to do anything he could to remedy. The server was floundering and I don't know if because it was unexpectedly busy or they needed more training. This is directed at the owner(s), because it is clear there is a disconnect of their expectations to reality. The cooks were on their game--they were ringing the bell trying to get food expedited, which went unanswered - cooks had to run plates. Food was ....uck...meh. Asked for to go boxes but they ended up at A&W on way home. The gluten-free bun was awesome though, super soft and doughy. I think it was a pretzel bun? Anyways, The fries came with giant chunks of garlic scattered around the top and big shaved pieces of Parmesan so when I picked up a fry, neither the garlic or Parmesan stayed on it so it was basically just plain fries. The patty was pale and had no seasoning to speak of. The Schnitzel Sandwich had two small, extremely chewy pieces of lukewarm chicken on a slightly stale tasting bun. The highlight of the entire meal was the fries with garlic ranch. Once our plates were delivered, we were not asked how our meals were or if we wanted anything else. I feel like it gets a little iffy if you have any special requests/refills kind of thing. The soup was thick, hearty, & flavorful! The side salad had so many pickled veggies that we couldn't taste the Bleu cheese dressing. The entree salad featured a nice ground beef patty sitting on a bed of mixed greens, mixed pickled veggies & topped with croutons fries. I'd eliminate the pickled veggies & this would be a better-tasting combination. The ranch dressing was very good! The food is 3.5/4-star.
