Started by two veterans, Compass has weathered some bumpy roads over the last few years with leadership, splits, and unions. That said, this location is quite large. Ironically, it's close to a Starbucks in Spring Valley in Northwest D.C. Walk inside and order a pastry or one of their many coffees. Their almond butter latte is among my favorites. The actual space is large with plenty of seats from tables, booth seating, to high top tables. There are plenty of outlets and strong free WiFi. Restrooms are in the very back.

The food is also spectacular. I've had the bacon egg and cheese and the steak and cheese and they are both phenomenal. Instead of leaving the logistics to a third-party organizer, Caspian Crust hosts the experience themselves, and it works beautifully. Everyone shares one long Sultan Breakfast table, making it easy to meet new people over incredible food. If you see one of these events, book it. It's absolutely worth it. The Sultan Breakfast was outstanding and there was so much food. The value for the price is incredible. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and I especially appreciated that many of the traditional meat dishes use beef rather than pork. As someone who doesn't eat pork, that made it easy to enjoy nearly everything on the table. One of the unexpected highlights was learning more about the culture. Another guest at our table was from Türkiye, and she shared that breakfast is traditionally enjoyed before coffee. Once I knew that, it completely reset my expectations. Instead of wondering where the coffee was, I got to enjoy an amazing, leisurely breakfast first. There was a little confusion at the end about whether coffee was included with our event, but the staff quickly sorted it out, and we finished with Turkish coffee and a piece of Turkish delight. It ended up being the perfect ending to the meal. I also learned that the owners have family roots in Azerbaijan, which makes a lot of sense once you see the menu. While the restaurant describes itself as Mediterranean, the flavors and breakfast traditions are distinctly Turkish and Azerbaijani, and it is wonderfully authentic.

They've built an amazing community around the café, and there are always great events happening. If I had one piece of feedback, it would be consistency. I've noticed that during busy hours, when one of the more experienced baristas is working, the coffee is always excellent. During quieter hours, though, the quality can vary depending on who's making it. I completely understand that every barista has a different level of experience, though I'd love to see a more consistent cup of coffee. The other thing is the Wi-Fi. I'm not sure why, but it often becomes unreliable, especially when sitting outside, which can make it difficult to work. That said, these are really MINOR things. I love Simona, and I'll happily keep coming back.

Delicious coffee, delicious cookies and some really creative and refreshing drinks as well. My most ordered things probably are the hibiscus tea, iced lattes with almond/oat milk and their cookies. Occasionally I have gotten breakfast and sandwiches from here. Everything simple yet so different than everywhere else. It is very hard to describe the difference. The cafe is small, cozy and located in a corner of Clarendon. The baristas are lovely and the service is top notch. I may be biased but it is hard to dislike anything about this place. It is one of my happy places. 5/5 must go there!

Fast prompt and friendly customer service and the place was crowded around noon. There are also available benches outside so ended up sitting there on this nice day enjoying my cold brew. Would visit again to try other bakeries and specialty lattes definitely.
