That member acts very surprised to see us there, she informs us that the whole office is on a lunch break and that she's really not even in charge of the front desk, they just asked her to stay while everyone was on break. Okay odd. She asks if I received a confirmation text or call ? In where I say no. So then after some going back and forth she schedules me for another day, we come back that day and everything goes smooth for the most part. Then I schedule for my next appointment that happens to be on a Tuesday at 11:00am. When I didn't receive a confirmation call i figured I'd call since I didn't want to make the long drive again for them to tell me that the appointment got cancelled. So I call and immediately I could tell something was off. The lady on the phone says "oh that's weird that you would Have an appointment on Tuesday when Tuesday's are just surgery days" I then proceeded to tell her that yea weird because why do I have it on my calendar and why had no one called to cancel my appointment. She just kept saying "that's weird" okay. At the end of the phone call she says that they are actually not taking Medicaid right now because they just got a new provider and they need her to get approved for Medicaid and that it was going to take a very long time. Yea after that I just hung up on her. Not only was my time wasted as I'm a professional who needed to take the time off to take my daughter to the dentist I feel very disrespected. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! So, now I have to try to deal with a toothache after these thieves took my money for nothing. Then it was time to leave and they presented me a bill for $76 (I guess for their new building fund.) I've waited up to 40 minutes past my appointment time before I was even brought to an exam room. Also, the call center is AWFUL! Every time I've had to use the call center to leave a message with my office or schedule emergency treatment, something goes wrong. Either the office doesn't call me back or the office calls to change my appointment that the call center scheduled. Detail/specific circumstance to prove my summary- I started the process for a tooth extraction and implant/crown a little over a year ago. In the time that I was healing and preparing financially for the second phase of treatment, the oral surgeon that I had left Ideal Dental. When I went to the office in April and attempted to schedule phase 2 of treatment, the date that the new oral surgeon was coming to the Culebra office in May didn't work for my prior commitments. I asked if it was possible to go to another Ideal Dental office on another date to get my procedure done and was told no. They didn't have the June date for the oral surgeon yet but they assured me that they'd call when they did. Surprise, surprise- I never got a call to schedule my June treatment and I missed the date that the new OS came to the office. They decided that suddenly I was allowed to go to other offices for treatment, so I drove from SA to New Braunfels for my appointment on a Friday. I paid the copay and then got called back and told that they don't have the parts they need for my implant because the new surgeon uses different implants than the old surgeon. The office manager there stated it was the fault of the Culebra office for not communicating the tools needed for my implant. I called the Culebra office and couldn't get ahold of anyone for several hours. Angela, front desk at the Culebra office, was apathetic and unapologetic about having me drive 2 hours round trip for no reason. She said she'd call me back when she heard from the Oral Surgery manager. Monday at 11am, I hadn't heard from them so I called to confirm if I can get an OS appointment in July still. Angela told me that the Oral Surgery manager and her talked on Friday, and they decided that I need to go find an Oral Surgeon to do my treatment instead because they didn't have the parts needed for my treatment and didn't plan on ordering them unless I couldn't find somewhere else to go. They gave me the number of an outside office to try and finish my treatment there. After calling over 6 dentists and spending 1.5 hours on the phone with various places, I finally found someone who uses the implant system that I have and could finish my treatment in a timely manner. If you've made it this far, please save yourself the hassle and go to a REAL dentist office. These box chains will become the bane of your existence. Having 3 different dentists over the course of a year long treatment is INSANE. No patient should experience that level of turnover. All the oral surgery/dentist offices that I called to find treatment for my implant were not surprised about my treatment as a patient by Ideal Dental and they strongly encouraged me to find a dentist outside of a box chain. They WILL change prices for treatment regularly. In April my crown was going to cost me one chunk of change and in June, the price increased $1,100. They either missed that my insurance had a clause that wouldn't cover the rest of my treatment OR they knew and wanted to get my treatment done there so they could charge me out of pocket after the fact. They will up charge you on more than just fluoride for regular cleanings. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache. Go elsewhere.

Things changed when Mary joined the office. I felt she was not honest with me about scheduling, and I brought my concerns directly to Dr. Martinez, hoping he would address the issue. Nothing changed. Later, when I needed another dentist to review my records, I asked Mary to transfer them. She was impatient, told me she would take care of it, and never did. That incident made my decision clear. I wish Dr. Martinez had taken my concerns seriously when we spoke, but because nothing was done, I will not be returning to his office. I have since found another dentist whose office is just as skilled and far more caring and friendly. In my opinion, Mary hurt his practice, and it is unfortunate that the problems were not addressed when they were brought to his attention.
