I spent a week at the historic Sea Meadow Inn in Brewster in Cape Cod at a private retreat. Since…read moreit was a private retreat, we had our own chef (lobster dinner!) and meals provided by a local chef. There were seven of us and each of us had our own bedroom and private bath in the remodeled bed and breakfast inn. The Sea Meadow Inn was the home of Captain Isaiah Clark, built around 1783 on Route 6A, the Old King's Highway, in the town of Brewster which was often called the Sea Captains Town since so many built homes there. Now it is a bed and breakfast and each of the seven rooms has its own personality. I slept in the Jeremiah room, which was the room of Captain Clark's son Jeremiah, who scrawled his name on the attic door, and the name is still visible on the attic door! There is a large kitchen and sitting room in which we all gathered, as well a patio, a huge lawn with chairs, as well as a fire pit. I was there in October, but remnants of flowers were abundant in the gardens surrounding the house. The house has the floors, fireplaces, and nostalgia of an earlier era, but the private bathrooms and bedrooms are all nicely furnished. It's a magical place and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a place to stay in Cape Cod.

When I originally called to find out if they were still offering breakfast bc of COVID and if so, could they accommodate vegan, Allison was so excited and inviting that I knew I needed to make the reservation. Then I received a call from Keith, who was witty and just as inviting as Allison and I knew my stay was going to be worth every penny. Their attention to detail inside the manor was just as impeccable as the breakfast they prepared and served. Each and everything we ate was phenomenal and they gifted me with vegan cookies and their delicious coffee to take home! We stayed in Phinney's Terrace; which was beautiful and sparkly clean. The room had lovely toiletries, the towels were lush and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed playing cards and drinking wine on the private terrace and appreciated the water that was left in our room and in the refrigerator. Bonus- for those going to the beach or wanting to play- there are beach towels, chairs and an umbrella, a tennis court with balls and racquets on site and a bunch of board games and playing cards. I would recommend Ashley Manor to anyone and everyone for any occasion or just for a night away. You will be taken care of and you won't regret it at all!

It's the perfect mix of old Cape antiques and more modern pieces, for a very classy and relaxing feel. This isn't your Great Aunt Martha's Victorian/cat decorated B&B. We stayed in the Federal room, and it couldn't have had more Cape Cod charm! A comfortable bed and seating area made us feel right at home. The bathroom has an adorable freestanding tub, and the bath products were Beekman's. New owners, Allison and Keith, purchased the inn in January 2020 and moved here from California to start a new chapter. Of course, no one could have known that a pandemic was brewing, and it must have been an incredibly stressful blow to have to close so soon after taking it over. Yet they are so gracious, so kind, even as they tell the story. Generally, they were just incredibly warm and welcoming people. Breakfast was glorious and really made our stay memorable. They asked our food preferences and allergies upon our arrival, got us dairy-free milk for our coffee, and served these gorgeous multi-course breakfasts each day. We usually prefer to sleep in and skip breakfast, but we didn't miss a single breakfast here. We found the best prices directly on the website, so definitely look there first when booking. A few highlights I'd like to mention: - the food is AMAZING. Kathleen is a superb chef and takes great individual care of all of her guests. She was proactive in making sure all of her food was customized to my dietary restrictions, which was greatly appreciated. - the service is top notch. We told our waitress one morning that we planned to go to the beach that day. By the time we finished breakfast, she had packed up two beach chairs and a bag with towels, waters and snacks for us. She even put all of it out by our car so we could easily bring it for our beach trip! - the local connections and recommendations were excellent and added to our experience in Yarmouth. Chuck and Kathleen are super plugged in to their community and were able to advise us on the best places to eat around town, as well as a few pretty areas to walk and enjoy the nice weather. - the baked goods are excellent. Finding a bnb that accepts dogs is hard enough but down the cape during August was an epic score. With a heated saltwater pool no doubt and plenty of parking. Only drawback was nightly fire by our bathroom window forced us to keep Windows shut due to smoke and smell, would be better off in back yard. Quick drive or brisk walk to the village with awesome market, Nirvana coffee and Italian restaurant plus pond and dog park. Only factor preventing a five star review is can't leave dog onsite . We also found Scranton Creek that was dog friendly with kayak rental and swimming for absolutely free

They had different main dishes everyday including quiches, scrambled eggs, and egg bakes, as well as desserts (the cranberry bread was our favorite) and fresh fruit. It was all amazing, and the coffee was solid! Parking was literally right behind the building. You are right in Woods Hole walking distance from several eateries. Charlene cooks breakfast each morning for you which was so good. They have free coffee, teas, sodas, games, and even ice cream!! Awesome!! I loved sitting on the patio for breakfast and in the evening relaxing in the lawn and have a glass of wine. They also provide bikes, towels and beach chairs.
