Stopped into 787 Coffee and ordered an iced americano along with a black cold brew. The total came to $16. Both drinks were served in bags, which was definitely a fun and eye-catching presentation. Taste-wise, the americano was smooth and well-balanced, but the cold brew leaned sour and didn't sit right with me. For the premium price, I expected both to deliver a bit more. The concept is creative, but for me, the flavor didn't quite match the cost. read more

The coffee is expensive but it's quite good. I'm a pretty tough customer when it comes to drip coffee - I find a lot of places make it too strong or too bitter. Their coffee was strong without being overwhelming - it tasted good and just getting it with oat milk was enough for me, I didn't even need to sweeten it the way I usually do at most coffee shops. You can tell they take their time with the brew. This place fills up but if you can't find seating on the cafe side you can look for seating on the "Work It" side. If you're in the workspace and have ordered on the other side they will bring it to you or put it through the section in the middle that links the two spaces. There's also a restroom on the workspace side as well as a little area to get cold drinking water. read more

This place is nice and clean. I ordered an iced coquito latte--it was good, but the price is pretty high. I wish it were more affordable because I'd come back every once in a while to treat myself. 787 Coffee shop is super tiny, but it has so much character. We stopped by to get a refreshing drink on this particularly hot day. They have some very cool wall art all over the walls, there's swings for seats as well as some comfy couches. My friend and I each got their iced Tamarind tea. These teas were $7 each. This isn't bubble tea, it's super basic tea, that comes in very fun packaging. This came in juice packs that are similar to Capri Sun. Sadly, it wasn't very good, or flavorful, it was super watered down. This was disappointing, since I know how this tea should taste and it was $7. Based on what the other customers purchased, it seems like all hot beverages come in traditional cups, and all the cold ones come in juice pouches. I do wish they would put a bit more focus on the quality of the product. read more

The barista had a shirt on that said..."Eat P***y Not Animals" Not only did they have a slamming coffee at a reasonable price ($3 for a large refill is great in NYC), but there were locations in several places in town. It was a nice roast from some kind of latin blend. As a coffee lover I found it to be a good batch that I could sip on all day. I did just that. I legit drank this coffee from 1pm to around 8pm (in ma thermal cup). It was a nice roast. A nice small shop and a nice blend of coffee. read more

Tiny but chill spot to grab a cuppa. I was able to snag the scenic window seat (with a swing). It's a fun seat to people-watch from, but terribly uncomfortable if you have to open a laptop. This location also doesn't have a restroom so you can't fully relax while sipping your coffee knowing that you'll have to pee afterwards. Luckily there's another (slightly larger) 787 Coffee location on 10th Ave with a restroom said the sweet and helpful barista at this location - just have to walk 5 blocks uptown and show your bright yellow and black 787 cup. Why didn't we go to that location instead? It's not as charming, no window swing seat there, and the bathroom (where the toilet is) is extremely tiny, like for an elementary school kid. I doubt my mom could squeeze into that lone little stall. read more

COQUITO LATTE. Yum. The staff is super friendly and gives you a neighbor discount. The sign for coquito latte drew me into the store. They sell it in bottles. The flavor is pretty strong so I decided to drink it in 2 servings with almond milk (not complaining to get 2 drinks out of it!) I love how the drinks are scolding hot - I was able to enjoy my hot drink right away. I'd return! read more

787 Is a popular spot with three locations in the East Village alone (can't find the 110 2nd Ave location on Yelp). The 787 by Abe Lebewohl Park is in a great spot and it attracts a lot of foot traffic. It's good for getting work done in the morning during the workweek but definitely more difficult if you're coming on a Friday or weekend. I've been going here for a while now and their consistent Puerto Rican blend is a hit with longtime coffee lovers like my parents. More PROS: open late (8 PM), great seating outside, as well as cozy lighting/wooden tables While I appreciate the fun, new packaging of the plastic pouch, it is kind of silly to carry around. It makes it look like I'm drinking some sort of alcohol cooler at 9 in the morning. I wish they carried both options. I just can't give it five stars because sometimes there is only one person working which makes the line run a little slow. Also, their prices have steadily gone up over the years which is sad but they give a discount if you live or work in the neighborhood (or both!). It is for sure a fun spot to visit if you have time as they have stayed true to the local community by featuring special events as well as their Puerto Rican connection. I enjoy the Iced Americano as its clean and refreshing and the pasties selection if good despite sometimes not having black bean empanadas. I popped in here with a friend as we were in the area. It's a super cute little coffee shop and I believe all of their coffee comes form Puerto Rico. They have a few tables and some swings at the front to sit at. They also have a few outlets in case you want to do work or charge your device. $8 for a watered-down cappuccino! I can't believe I paid for a quad (4 shots) and it didn't even taste like it. It was also crowded and busy. There were only 2 people working behind the counter (1 person at the register taking orders + 1 person making every single coffee). Whatever system they have in place here clearly does NOT work because the person at the register was just verbally saying every part of each order to the person making the actual drinks. The coffee was alright and I think it was slightly expensive (which I'm used to at this point). But I did not like the service honestly and it frustrated me. The employee kept asking me question after question when all I wanted was a cup of coffee. They also kept asking me if I'd want to purchase other things and if I would want to donate $5 (Almost the same amount of money as the coffee). I understand the sentiment but I would appreciate that they stop putting the customers on the spot like that and put them in extremely uncomfortable positions. read more

The girl working was very lovely although the coffee was terrible and very expensive . It was $18 for 2 6-8oz drinks which is pretty gnarly... the froth was wrong on the flat white and other drinks. Again, love the lady working but not a fan of the coffee. read more

Loved the vibes and coffee here. The Guava Quesito is the best I have had in a VERYYYYY long time. Too bad they were sold out of Empanadas, as my son and I were really hungry. We arrived at 2 PM, and was told they sell out early. We purchased two bags of coffee. The Whiskey infused (great as a iced coffee) and their regular roast. I really enjoy coffee that isn't too bitter The art on the walls was lovely (loved the Campesinos). I was a bit bummed that they were not playing any type of latin music while we were there. Would have loved to hear some latin jazz or some salsa to show off our latin culture. Will def go again and look forward to visiting more locations read more

Was looking for a coffee place near my nephew's place and this jumped out. It's a short walk away and a very cozy place. I got the rum-infused latte and it had great flavor and beautifully decorated. They give you cold brew in a plastic bag without warning you that they are out of cups.. no straw.. nothing.. what are you supposed to do with that? And when asked to give a refund they deny it. Terrible business but even worse coffee. read more

I love this coffee shop because the barista are friendly and helpful even taking your coffee up to the second floor if you ask. The coffee itself is excellent and there is an artistic flare to the place that shows that someone who runs this shop, has a real designing eye but there is a problem. When the weather approaches 32°F it is absolutely freezing in this small two-story building. The barista is obviously cold and for a customer it is borderline unsafe. Love their mazapan (peanut latte)! Apparently this location doesn't do super alcoholic drinks, but I really enjoyed my hot drink, with oat milk. The mazapan has actual pieces of chopped peanuts in the coffee so if you're into that, would highly recommend! read more

This has everything that a little coffee spot in the city should have: quality coffee, thoughtful decor, and welcoming staff. The mocha was excellent, with just the right balance of coffee and chocolate. And they were quite understanding as I stood there like a mannequin and completely spaced on putting my card in, haha. I was only passing through, but I'd be more than happy to stick around with my laptop next time - because the music was at a reasonable background volume, not assaulting your ears as other places do. I find that this is uncommon enough to require comment. The neighborhood discount is also a very nice touch. Just a first-class operation all around. I hope they find themselves in the West Village someday, but I'm definitely not averse to strolling east to see them! read more

I've been meaning to try this coffee shop, and I finally made it! This is their second and newest location in the East Village. The barista / manager welcomed me in and walked me through all the pastry options as I was looking for a bite to eat. I decided to go with the spinach and cheese empanada, and it was moist and flavorful, a nice complement to my ice latte. The coffee itself was quite good as well and nicely balanced. They source their coffee beans directly from their farm in Puerto Rico, and you have the option to buy their beans. Oh, they have a lunch deal (empanada + coffee) for the price of $7.87 - clever! As for the atmosphere, even though the space is small, it doesn't feel cramped at all because of the large windows letting in plenty of light. Accents of yellow in the decor add to the overall brightness. There are two larger, community-type tables, and I like this because I have enough space for my laptop, food, and coffee. Wifi was very reliable too. One thing is that the stools are backless and a bit high compared to the table, so it isn't the most comfortable setup. After recently relocating, I've been passing by 787 Coffee quite often and just recently stopped by to get my coffee fix for the day. The shop is quite small, but everyone is taking social distancing quite seriously inside and outside. They have a complete menu of coffee and tea drinks, as well as some other snacks and other packaged goods for sale. I got a regular hot drip coffee and their new maple latte. The maple latte was not too sweet and quite subtle, and it was a nice deviation from the typical latte, although it was quite expensive (around $6.25). The drip coffee was smooth and definitely did not have that sour coffee taste, and I'd for sure get this again. They also have a small discount if you live/work in the area, which is quite nice. I definitely think I will be coming back and trying other items, such as the flat white or the cold brew. If you have time, give 787 a try! They also have really nice outdoor seating so please take advantage of it before it gets too chilly! read more

Never heard of tongmu lapsang but Google says it's a type of smoked black tea from China. The drink had notes of hazelnut in it. I never had a nutty, chocolatey tea flavor combo before so it was refreshing to taste.

Matcha Einspanner. This is my first time having an Einspanner so I have no idea what I was expecting but this is DELICIOUS. It's so silky and smooth and the TASTE is just right up my alley. The matcha is light but you can still taste it. Absolutely, would drink this all the time if I could. 3. Purple Sweet Potato Latte. This. This. Omg, why haven't I tried this sooner?! The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. I went around ... 2:45PM on a Friday and most of the seats were taken, if I remember correctly. There were a decent amount of seats and the space was decent. I liked the minimal aesthetic they had for the design of the interior. Not to forget, the staff at the register was absolutely wonderful, she answered all my questions, she's so sweet. The topping was literally like actual tiramisu rather than just tiramisu flavoring, and it felt like there was more ice and tiramisu than latte. Personally, I would have preferred more of the tiramisu flavor without the full tiramisu texture mixed into the drink. That said, it was an interesting concept and I'm glad I tried it. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying another latte on a future visit.

I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.
