I want to like this place because it is closer to me than other coffee places. But I have only ever gone out of desperation because...coffee is just okay. (Almost) every time I have been here - the people taking my order have seemed annoyed to be there. There is no wifi and are no outlets. The most positive thing is that it's a nice shop and They're open daily from 7-7.

This is my happy place. I find time to take a pause and decompress in the all too familiar hectic, manic energy of NYC. Some days, I come here to start the day as it will always be on a positive note. You walk into 9th street and take a look to your left at the simple, no fluff menu. Then you look to your right and there is Malcolm greeting you with the most genuine smile you've seen since Julia Roberts in Notting Hill. He asks "What can I get for you today!" in the most positive tone you've ever heard. I get the black coffee as always. It really does make a difference interacting with happy people with good energy on a daily basis. It is infectious and just improves your quality of life. Shoutout to Malcolm!!! Other days, I need to wind down after a long, stressful day of writing yelp reviews and teaching myself the guitar via youtube. It is perfect for this as well. I still get the black coffee because I'm a beast. Full disclosure, I'm not a coffee snob but my friends who are have all given this place 3 thumbs up. My only caveat is that you may get swept up in the flash flood of natural light that inundates 9th street espresso on a beautiful day. Sitting in here and taking a pause in my day really puts me in an almost spiritual state. That's the only way I can really describe it. It has me really thinking about things different. Like do you ever just sit in a space and listen to a song and really hear/feel the lyrics? This happened to me with the song Wet Sand when Anthony Kiedis sings: "My love affair, with everywhere, was innocent Why do you care?" I sat there for about 20 minutes trying to understand what this means before it hit me like a freight train. I just love these little moments in life. Okay my b I'm rambling, but ALPHABET CITY STAND UP!

THE spot to pop in and out, or unplug and read a book, catch-up with a friend -- or literally anything not requiring wifi. I've only had their tea so I can't speak to the coffee. But you *have* to try their mini pound cakes. I'm obsessed with the lemon matcha. Lightly citrusy and that combined with the matcha is so good.

Espresso W/ Milk (oat milk!) I never usually get oat, BUT this was so yummy

I only wish they had WiFi and outlets.. but the coffee and service is amazing! Everyone is super welcoming, and the espresso w/ oat milk is a must try! I didn't like oat milk before this, but it tasted amazing with the espresso here! Many tables inside and out if you're looking to sit down or study/work!

I used to frequent the Chelsea Market location of Ninth St, but it closed over Covid. Missing their excellent coffee, I trekked over to the original location and was not disappointed. The iced coffee is basically perfect!

Ninth street Espresso was recommended by one of my friend who is extremely addicted to coffee. The ambiance was casual, relaxed and perfect to stay for a while in the afternoon. Their coffee was delicious and the best part was they have oat milk to choose from. I purchased two packs of their coffee bean which came with a cup of free coffee. The only thing I might be hesitant to visit again is the location, it was not easy for me to get there.

This cafe has another location that is one corner block away - but this is actually on ninth street so i am assuming this is the first one opened. The iced latte here is really creamy with high quality coffee beans to support. Definitely a great choice if you enjoy creamy lattes

I don't drink coffee often but when I do I love to add oat milk with it! Finding a cafe that does not charge extra for oat milk is a dream come true haha. I ordered an iced coffee and it definitely was one of the best coffees I have ever had. Their seating area looked very cute but was closed due to Covid. I can't wait to stop by here again and thank you for the phenomenal service!

Everything about this place rocks. The ninth Street location on Avenue C is an oasis. However, there's one giant problem, there's a barista there who is a very sweet sweet person. But he talks so loud, and he sings along with the music so loud, that it destroys any sense of ambience. (Malcolm) Sadly, 50% of the time I walk in and I walk out because his incredibly loud yelling just completely ruins any kind of calm experience. Is there anyway someone could tell him nicely to stop singing along to the music like he's in his own bedroom? Is it possible to tell him to stop screaming out every single word he says that comes out of his face? I have friends that also have decided to go elsewhere and it's pity. I know a few friends who won't go there any longer. Why is management letting this continue? Don't fire him just tell him to SPEAK AT A HUMAN LEVEL AND STOP SINGING!

I've been coming to this location for over 10 years, and it never disappoints. The other ninth street espresso locations usually also make great coffee, but there's just something special about this one! I stopped in for my usual espresso w/ milk over the weekend and it took it to the community garden across the street, which was so pleasant. There's also a nice little bench seating area right outside the coffee shop if it's not too crowded. The staff is friendly, and they enforce social distancing and other covid procedures, which is always appreciated. Ninth street's coffee is very consistent, which is one of the most important qualities in a coffee shop, I think. They also have a solid selection of food items, so if you're a commuter in the area, this could easily become a regular spot. I love that their espresso w/ milk isn't too diluted like a lot of standard lattes, and their beans have a bold, distinctive flavor that replicates well if you buy them to brew at home.

So far THE.BEST.COFFEE in town. I know I know NY offers so much to choose from but I found this gem by accident and fell in love. So perfectly brewed with my favorite oat milk. It's a bit pricey but hey I would pay extra for this "shot of energy". Can't wait to go back to NY and enjoy this! Also they are neighboring with fantastic halva place and this together are the BEST duo on Earth! Must try and absolute must be on my go to places. You will love them! Great barista too;)

My most favorite coffee shop in NYC so far. I'm a regular customer since 2020. At first their espresso is a masterpiece! Another very important thing for me -- NO outlets AND NO WI FI. That means almost ZERO annoying laptoppers, so this coffee shop doesn't look like an office! And of course i love their baristas! Those guys will remember you, call you by your name and treat with respect. Love you, "ninth street espresso"

The Jeju Green Tangerine Matcha honestly just tastes like a tangerine selter drink but in the best way, because I don't typically enjoy seltzer or carbonated beverages. I really enjoy the flavor and the carbonation isn't too strong, probably because I brought it home to drink. I don't really taste the matcha but I would definitely still order this again. 2. Matcha Einspanner. This is my first time having an Einspanner so I have no idea what I was expecting but this is DELICIOUS. It's so silky and smooth and the TASTE is just right up my alley. The matcha is light but you can still taste it. Absolutely, would drink this all the time if I could. 3. Purple Sweet Potato Latte. This. This. Omg, why haven't I tried this sooner?! The first sip and initial taste, I almost tasted nothing, just milk. And then all of a sudden, there's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. As a sweet potato lover, I was in heaven. I have absolutely no words for this drink, just try it. 100/10 recommend. This is probably my favorite one out of the 3 that I bought. I went around ... 2:45PM on a Friday and most of the seats were taken, if I remember correctly. There were a decent amount of seats and the space was decent. I liked the minimal aesthetic they had for the design of the interior. Not to forget, the staff at the register was absolutely wonderful, she answered all my questions, she's so sweet. I think I'm disappointed that I haven't tried this place sooner. Y'all get out of your comfort zone and try the Purple Sweet Potato Latte !! Or if not, just try this place out. I will definitely be recommending the Purple Sweet Potato Latte to all my family and friends.

While it was a fun and unique drink, I probably should have opted for something else. The topping was literally like actual tiramisu rather than just tiramisu flavoring, and it felt like there was more ice and tiramisu than latte. Personally, I would have preferred more of the tiramisu flavor without the full tiramisu texture mixed into the drink. That said, it was an interesting concept and I'm glad I tried it. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying another latte on a future visit.

I probably never leave reviews in general, especially negative ones, but this experience was so…read moreegregious that I honestly felt like I had to say something. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.
