After a long day training run down the west side I was craving an iced drink and walked over to Blackstone Coffee. Seemed like a popular spot on a Sunday afternoon as this tiny nook was busy, those ordering inside and others enjoying the outside seating. They offer a variety of hot and cold drinks, pastries, sandwiches, snacks, smoothies. Quick and friendly service. My iced coffee was delicious and I sat at one of the window seats to watch the world walk by. read more

Our club placed a large coffee order in advance and the manager Ray could not have been more accommodating. The order was ready right on time with a very generous amount of condiments: regular and fat free milk and supplies: cups, stirrers, sugar, sweeteners and napkins. I made a second visit to confirm the order and Ray greeted me by name after having only met me once. I was extremely impressed with the outstanding customer service. Although I am not a coffee drinker myself, the coffee also got rave reviews. The prices are also very reasonable and fair. read more

Good coffee, small place but always has a line. I have been tasting coffee around here and Blackstone is one of the nice coffee place. Price is a bit higher but you will get a good coffee, The cafe is dog friendly, so you can bring your dog with you while you pick up the order. read more

Really tasty bacon, egg and cheese on a roll (all ingredients better than your average BEC), and slightly-sweet whole wheat everything bagel with lox. Hazelnut iced coffee totally perfect. I got an iced latte with oat milk and my friend got the cold brew. The cold brew was a bit watery and bitter but the latte I got was delicious! It was sweet, but I liked it. The staff is very friendly, which I really appreciated! I would definitely come here again for coffee. read more

If there's any easy way to earn a 1 star it's to not follow your advertised prices. Me and a few friends went and ordered drinks. 1 of them got a caramel iced latte and was charged 5.99 when it was labeled 3.75. When she asked why he said because the ice was 75 cents. Simple math says that he was just throwing out numbers. The drinks are ok but but not worth it. I understand it was busy but again lying about prices is a 1 star. No one likes to get scammed. read more

I actually visited Blackstone on the hunt for a good sandwich. In my 6 short months as a NYC resident, I have been adrift in a sea of Italian subs and heroes. Meat and cheese. That's all I could find. I did not think a decent turkey sammy would be a tall order, but I guess we got a lotta italian sammy-heads in the neighborhood. The blackrock turkey, avocado, bacon sandwich was delightful. Still a ton of turkey, but the overall experience was very good. Crunchy lettuce and bacon bring it home. So thank you BR Coffee Roaster for quenching my sammy needs. Coffee is ok. Has that starbucks-like, flat, dark taste too it. Some people love it, but I'm meh on it. Certainly not the worst cup. The staff is awesome. Said hello to a lot of regulars by name as they walked in. read more

I moved here over 5 years ago and have come to Black Stone every morning since. The warmest, nicest family runs this business. Hazelnut iced coffee is my go-to every day, but I frequently get smoothies and wraps and everything is absolutely delicious. Service is incredibly efficient, everyone who works there is so friendly and kind, and they take pride in taking care of their customers. Couldn't ask for a better spot in the neighborhood, and couldn't recommend this place more to locals and out-of-towners alike. read more

Awesome cold brew, fast and efficient service. This may be the only place in the neighborhood that comes up as one dollar sign on Google maps... I stopped in for the price, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of both my cold brew and the Greek salad, which they serve by weight. There were many people inside, but the workers were so quick and accurate, I was in and out in under five minutes. It's definitely a go-to coffee shop in the neighborhood and I highly recommend. One more thing!! They didn't automatically hand me a straw, I had to ask for it. I love that the straw isn't a given, since many places will throw unused straws out once the customer has touched them. It was nice to have the choice. read more

My friend and his roommate love this place, and I wasn't too sure why until I went there the other day. It's a small deli nestled in the west village. The people running the store are extremely kind and they try to get to know every customer that comes in. The store itself was small, but very neat and clean. The had many options which I loved. The prices were decent and the food was delicious. I ended up getting the everything bagel with cream cheese and the cinnamon bun! Both very good! read more

Super Sunday in Atlanta was awesome! It was a spectacular week culminating in the NFL season's penultimate football game. 11:35 pm in Georgia 2/3 - went to a private party. 3:15 am 2/4 - got a ride to the airport. 5:25 am - loved hopping on a cool Jet with some new friends. 6:47 am - Landed in Newark, NJ. 8:10 am - found Blackstone Coffee on Hudson St in the West Village in NYC via a Yelp search. 8:12 am - got the warmest greeting and welcome from Sammy( the owner) as I walked in with no sleep and famished. 8:15-8:22 am - I browsed through and basically was getting some ideas for Wednesday and next week as I saw the freshly baked scones: Choc chip and a bunch of other unique flavors. They just looked delicious and appetizing. The freshly made salads- egg and tuna amongst them, looked really good. Fresh again! The coffee was delicious. Hot, strong and Sammy was very kind as he offered me all dairy and other options. 8:23 am - SUPER MONDAY commenced in Manhattan with the awesome # 3 breakfast special- egg whites, avocado and kale served on toasted while wheat with their lovely house made salsa. I have never had this combo and it was just perfect. The eggs were cooked just right. The kale was not bitter, harsh or overpowering. Tasty actually in this form. The avocados added a nice and creamy compliment to this special. The salsa was beautiful: fresh and bursting with flavor. Loved their list of specials. Loved Sammy's energy and interaction with the regulars who also responded in kind. Loved it! Loved that you can park on Hudson St ( $1 for every 15 minutes) starting at 8:00 am with easy access to this great coffee, breakfast and lunch spot. Loved the prices for this quality and quantity. Love that they open at 5:00 am M-F and at 6:00 am on the weekends. That is huge for Manhattan! This early bird would love to get his Joe at that hour!! Loved the staff - the chef was a happy guy who obviously put a lot of love into his beautiful fare. There was another very sweet employee who was stocking and actually held the garbage lid open for me and my mess after I had devoured my breakfast. I mean, who does that! Really cool and considerate!! Loved Sammy! He told me his son's name also was Ray and he would not forget me. I think it is definitely the other way around: this truly was a memorable experience. AMBIENCE: They have outdoor seating with overhead shades. A couple of the tables are in close proximity with the bus stop so avoid those tables if you're sensitive to fumes. LOGISTICS: You can still go inside the coffee shop and place your order. They still accept cash along with credit cards. The service is super friendly and efficient. We went out while waiting for our drinks and they brought it out for us. FOODS / DRINKS: They have a good variety of baked goods, smoothies, coffee, tea, sandwiches, wraps, etc. I got the iced dirty chai with almond milk and it was one of the best dirty chai I ever had. I have been to a few bodegas throughout NY, but never one where the employees were so friendly! I was greeted immediately with "Hello, my friend!" and was met with a huge, genuine smile from maybe the owner? IDK, but he was great. I placed my coffee order with him and when I approached the counter, I placed my bagel order (everything bagel with scallion cream cheese....Yass!!) while salivating over the delicious dessert display, wow, the coffee cake, but, I had to look away. While waiting for my order, I noticed the familiarity of the owner/manager and the locals and I could see why this place has such high ratings. They also make a great dirty chai, which is hard to find. read more

An actual, real life neighborhood staple run by exceedingly kind people who will brighten your morning. The staff members clearly recognize and have rapport with many frequent customers - I aspire to get to this level! The coffee is amazing as well and there are ample food options. I commute from Jersey City to Washington Square Park and will get off the PATH a stop early just to grab a coffee at Blackstone when the weather is nice. I love to explore new coffee shops while I walk to work. This morning I saw this small cafe and there was a queue of people waiting outside to get in. I went in to grab a coffee and was impressed to see their elaborate breakfast menu. From bagels to smoothies, paninis, wraps, sandwiches, pastries, salads and also omelettes and huevos rancheros. I liked my cappuccino, although it was quite strong it was full of flavor. I want to go try their bagels and other things on their menu. What made it worse was hearing him say that he doesn't get paid extra to work past 4:00, so he simply didn't care. His attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. I understand closing procedures, but customer service should never stop abruptly--especially while still serving others just moments before. This experience left a sour taste, not because of the coffee (which I didn't get to try), but because of how unwelcome and disregarded I felt. I hope management addresses this behavior, because this is not how any business should treat paying customers.
