I stopped in for lunch while on a road trip. This place has quite the operation going. They start at 4am! The bakery goods were beautiful, fresh and delicious. I tried one of the Christmas sugar cookies and they were melt in your mouth buttery flavor. I ordered a Turkey wrap to go. It was more like a panini and it was delicious. "Pit stop! We need coffee!" Right off the exit which helped on our long trek from Lexington to Cleveland. Located in a ministrip of shops including a carwash so it looks like you're in the wrong place but you're not, its at the very end. Stepping in it looks like an ideal bakery coffeeshop with plenty of seating and a great area for coffee customers with a large display for their baked goods as well. I walked along the baked goods trying to pick an item to give me that late afternoon sugar rush. I settled on a Boston cream cupcake and he went with the maple bacon long john. Not as fresh as I would prefer but still tasty. Austin ordered a caramel latte and I a caramel cortado. I taught the gentleman working how to make the cortado. We ate our baked goods and were on our way. We both had this weird taste of the caramel that tasted more like a butterscotch than caramel. The more buttery taste wasn't bad but not expected. This was a little disappointing, since it was recommended to me over a year ago, and I'd tried to come once but they were closed, so I've been waiting a very long time. Hit or miss on quality, I'd say, and prices not good. I tried 3 donuts, a fried pie, a cookie and a lemon bar. It cost over $17. Lemon bar very subpar, maple bacon donut not great. Sugar cookie ok but not worth getting again. The chocolate iced cream filled was better than expected (good chocolate flavor), and the peach fried pie was also a nice surprise (minus the chunk of peach pit I almost broke a tooth on). Buttermilk donut not good, and I usually love them. All of this to say, I doubt I'll be back. read more

A drive that is oh so worth it! 8 Sisters Bakery has by far the best donuts I have ever tasted. They are huge and sometimes can not be finished in one sitting. My favorite is the maple bacon donuts. I have been getting 8 Sisters in downtown Mt. Gilead but decided to try their newer location on I-71 and Rt 95, and I was not disappointed! I now make the trip to get the Amish Grand Slam sandwich as well as stock up on donuts for the family. Their food is amazing and the baked goods are even better! I will say that you should plan on eating any cream filled donuts that day as the ingredients are not full of preservatives and do not have a long shelf life. They are a bit more expensive but oh so worth it. There is indoor seating to sit back and enjoy a nice carb overload and sugar high. There is also farmers market type shops nearby that are fun to visit. Easy to get to right off I-71 8 Sisters is a great place to go on a Saturday. read more

We were driving down the highway craving a cookie. We saw this place on Yelp, and decided to give it a try. Overall it didn't seem too warm and inviting. I hate it when I go in, and it feels like they would rather I wasn't there. I did finally get waited on, and bought a cookie bar. The cookie was fresh, but didn't meet my expectations. We will not stop again as we have another coffee shop location that has much better baked goods down the road. We will wait for that exit next time around. read more

So good! Stumbled by while driving through and it was in a great location just off the highway. Amish baked goods - pies, muffins, donuts, cookies, cakes and cupcakes were so yummy looking! Also had a coffee bar and you could get espresso and lattes. Their house coffee was also delicious. The cinnamon roll was huge and the best I've ever tasted. Their cafe menu included sandwiches, soups, quiche, breakfast sandwiches, etc. All very reasonably priced! Very friendly service, too. I will be back! read more

First let me start by saying that after my wife and children, doughnuts are number one. 8 Sisters Bakery is truly deserving of a 5 star rating for their delicious doughnuts. Anyone looking for excellent doughnuts and coffee as they are driving along I-71 between Cleveland and Columbus must stop here. Do not waste your time and money at any of the national doughnut chain stores. They have a great variety of doughnuts, pastries, pies and they will make any type of coffee you desire. I am a regular cup of black coffee person and theirs is great. You will not be disappointed after you stop here and it's not even a minute off of I-71. We purchased a buckeye pie which sadly had little flavor. The sandwiches were okay. All the hype we had heard, we left disappointed.

Aggravation: when you get there, there is nothing to tell you about lining up for donuts vs ordering breakfast (looking confused is a waste). Positives: the donuts were wonderful (hence the 4 stars). Negative: the people were positively unpleasant. With the Amish graphics and the "eight sisters", it's not what you expect. Amazing place to stop on your trip! Spectacular coffee, I like the local brand. The donuts, which I did not indulge in looked perfect and were loaded with icing and other treats. On our way to Lake Erie today we stopped at 8 Sisters Bakery in Mt. Gilead, right off of st rt 71. OMG! Wow! Next trip via 71 stop here instead of your run of the mill interstate restaurants. You won't be disappointed! After a quick trip through the farmers market for fresh asparagus, peaches, and cherries, we got a superfoods salad, with homemade dressing and a buffalo chicken wrap that was made in a panini press.
