Service was 5/5, friendly and quick. No complaints there! I had asada, tongue and Al pastor tacos. The tongue was tender but it was so bland! Even with the salsa, onions and cilantro it was very bland, zero flavor. Asada was pretty good. Nothing special but much better than the tongue. Al pastor was my favorite. Usually taco places make it wet or runny and this was not. Great texture and flavor. I think my biggest gripe is the size to price ratio. These are small street tacos. Good little hole in the wall taco place driving through Santa Maria! Impressed by the taco variety on the menu and wish I could have tried all of them. Fish and Alambre tacos were EXCELLENT (alambre had asada, chorizo, bell peppers, and cheese). Pastor and Lengua also good, but a tad too spicy. Carnitas and Barbacoa just okay. Stopped in for a quick bite and had to try the salsa and chips, fresh tortilla chips and the salsa was spicy just the way we like it. Had a ceviche tostada when I say they loaded shrimp on the shell, I'm not exaggerating. I could've just eaten one , I was pretty stuffed but I did have street tacos chicken . I'm so disappointed. After reading the reviews and how everyone was ranting about how good it was we went and tried it. My son and I got asada tacos. The meat was re heated on the flat top so the meat was very dry. It had little to no flavor. The salsa was hot with no flavor. Asked for grilled onions and they were barely cooked. They had one person manning the floor with serving and she was nice but definitely overworked. It took 30 minutes for us to get 6 simple tacos that were definitely not fresh. This place is small and local, just the way it should be. There is usually just one person behind the bar and she's the waitress for the entire joint. You come in, sit where you'd like and the menus are brought to you along wit some chips and salsa. The salsa is fresh and a little spicy so if you are a mild fan, stay away or order a few waters. I have tried carnitas and chicken tacos and they are great. The salsa on them is a bit spicy so again you've been warned. You can ask for it on the side if you wish. 805 should really be a 3.5-star place if it were not for their evident expertise in preparing lengua. I was in love at first bite. Each chunk was unbelievably tender and savory. The addition of toppings (raw onion, cilantro, raw radish) and their choice of salsa pulled it all together nicely and made for a balanced bite. The carnitas and al pastor were also rather noteworthy for their crispiness and spice, respectively. The carne asada was not a favorite. It was generously seasoned, but I just don't like it when all odds and ends like tendon are thrown in with the mix. The textural variety does not make for a pleasant experience. I would also not recommend the wet burrito, or wet burritos in general. This was stuffed with a layer of mashed frijoles, some flavorless rice and our choice of protein. Wet burritos just end up getting soggy. I'd rather add hot sauce to my liking when I eat. An additional note: 805 Tacos doles out salsa like there's no tomorrow. All things should be consumed in moderation and depending on what number taco you're on, that douse of salsa can mean the difference between comfortably full and loathsomely stuffed. If I were to return, I would definitely ask for all salsa to be served on the side. Still, their salsas are clearly homemade and fresh. When had with that first bite of lengua, my tastebuds were taken to a whole other level. It's not hard to see why 805 is popular with the locals. read more

Cute little place- hard to find but it's easy to park. The waitress was very sweet and helpful. You order at the counter and she brings my food out in a styrofoam to go box. There are 5 indoor tables and I sat at the only clean one. There were no customers at the time but the tables were not clean. Outdoor seating available which also needed a good wipe down. I hate when the customer area is not clean because I wonder about the kitchen. Tried 3 tacos- fish, shrimp, and a seafood taco with octopus and cheese. Presentation was good and I friends seemed fresh except the fish on the fish taco had an odd taste so I discarded it. Ok experience but I am no expert on authentic Mexican- I was hoping for an amazing food experience. I didn't get that today. I'm always on the lookout for great fish tacos and will try another spot in the area next time. read more

I ordered four tacos which proved to be too many as they were massive & 805 michelada. My fiancé ordered the carne asada fries, those looked huge too, & he said they were great. The tacos I ordered were carne asada, pollo, carnitas, & pastor. The staff was super friendly, waitress was quick, & polite. Restaurant & bathroom were clean. I think we paid $32 for everything. Stop by my first time at the taco shop! It's a mile and a half off the freeway on the way to Santa Barbara or back to the bay area. My friend and I arrived and the place was clean and had seating inside and outside. We each ordered plates of tacos that came in threes. I got the chicken tacos and my friends got the Birria tacos. They forgot to bring out the soup for the tacos but the hospitality was OK. We are thankful for the food and the flavors and the service that this business offers. This is one interesting place and I have been postponing my review here for months because I'm never quite sure how to rate it. Overall, the tacos are tasty and well dressed. Satisfying and a great price. My favorite taco is the shrimp by far, difficult to describe but I highly recommend. The ceviche is very unique and worth a try! The lower stars (2.5 more accurately) are because it's often dirty in the place and service is fast but unfriendly. There's usually only one waitress and that causes them to be rushed and serve people when they're visibly sick or cleaning (mopping, etc). The bathroom has, at times, been so dirty that you can't use it -I'll leave the details out- but it was because of the waitress. So, it's a mixed bag at 805, in my experience. Surely, that I've gone back after these experiences, is a testament to how much I like the tacos. read more

If I could offer tips (not that the management reads these) here are some things to improve: - service time (we waited 25 minutes for food with only 1 person in line before us) - location vibe (this place feels a bit shady and it doesn't feel totally safe) Better cleanliness, exterior care/parking cleanliness and plantings, and asking the guys hanging around out back to find some new digs for their group would all help. A new friend a I enjoyed this newer restaurant when we dined here. It's an authentic-tasting taqueria in an more intimate setting. Not too many seats here but it's not a problem. You can get your tacos to go. I enjoyed the Al Pastor and the Carne Asada. Comes with the cilantro and chopped onions just like real taco vendors have. Salsa was pretty good. Chips were a plenty. I was surprisingly impressed with 805 Tacos! A friend recommend this spot and it gave off "generic taqueria" vibes, which made me assume that the food would be only decent. However, the food was delicious! We got a few orders of carne asada, chicken and al pastor tacos to-go with all the toppings on the side and 2 orders of asada fries.The tacos were a hit and the carne asada fries were gone in a flash! It was just ok to me. I've had Tacos in Texas and in quite a few places in California and have tasted the freshness of the cilantro and the meat on the tacos. It was good but not excellent. I recommend placing fresh cilantro on the tacos and keeping the seasoning and food fresh when served. The food did not seem fresh, perhaps it was sitting for a while. I am not sure but I know when I taste fresh food freshly served food. I also noticed that the female at the register rounded up a total verbally which did not reflect the actual price of the tacos and the actual subtotal. Never declare a price that is not accurate or does not reflect the prices posted online and on the menu. Be specific and never charge more than what you posted online or on your menu. Rounding up totals verbally is never an option. It is unethical and can be considered false advertising if it does not reflect what is on your menu. Always be accurate and honest in your prices. The setting needs some cleaning and organizing. Seems disorganized and chaotic. The music and sound should be consistent not being blasted then turned down. The dining area should be designated and perhaps separated from the drinking area. Having a huddled up group of friends drinking and carrying on in the dining area does not help keep the dining area clearly identified, organized and separated from the drinking area. Great potential for being the best. A bottle of Coke for 3.75? What? Send it back to the Coke company. Your drinking prices should be comfortable to purchase with your food. It is a soda not gasoline subject to the oil refineries and politics. read more

My family and I stopped in here for a break from the freeway, since we saw it coming up as a highly recommended restaurant. We were not too happy with the decision. The pros: The waitress was very nice and welcoming. She was very prompt with the order and bill. No mistakes on the order. The cons: The food just wasn't very good. The bean and cheese burrito had a weird, soapy taste. Like some dishsoap had been spilled in the beans. Maybe they use canned beans and they were old?? Anyways, one of the worst burritos either of us had ever tasted. The quesadilla was too greasy, gobs of cheese that hadn't completely melted, not crisp enough. It was kind of like how my teenager would've made it, rather than an adult. The carnes asada burrito wasn't bad. It just wasn't great. It was mediocre. Second, the bathrooms and floors were very, very, very dirty. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. The floors were slick with a greasy film that made it slippery to walk on. We had to wipe the crumbs off the table and chairs. It needs a good cleaning.
