Great place even for a large group.

I come to this place often. This was actually the first Mexican restaurant we visited when we moved to Santa Maria. The seafood here is delicious. And so far we haven't had a bad dish. I usually get the fish tacos. But any of the meats are tasty. The burritos are good and filling, [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small place, and be aware the parking can get full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But I've had groups of 20 with me and the management has been more than accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is very local and no frills.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the food is quality and delicious.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was nice and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went at lunch time and food came out fairly quick and we found seating. Best spot in Santa Maria for seafood for a good price and quick lunch time bite!

Food: 4.5. Came by to try a new (to us) Mexican restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is a small place with only inside seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordering is at the counter and you picku up your order when your number is called. Drinks are self serve.Menu is available and posted behind the counter and by QR code. I was not able to access by QR code. We ordered one octopus tostada, one asada taco, one pastor taco, and one shrimp taco. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. Portion size is fair. All the food was very good. Another reviewer mentioned the shrimp taco so I decided to order. I normally only eat beef, pork or fish tacos. My favorite ended up being the shrimp taco. Octopus was tender and flavorful in the ceviche like mixture. Hard to eat as a tostada as the filling was watery. Service was good but not necessarily welcoming. Still, worth coming back.

Great choice of tacos. The carnitas were the BOMB. Definately, hitting this up again for sure. Chef Recommends trying this spot out.

Pulpo tacos were fire! So full of flavor! Amazing seafood tacos. Tortillas are charred to make them crispy.

The dining room itself is decorated with wood ceilings and really outdated window drapes. The iron chandeliers were nice but then the hung crystals on them as an afterthought. The vast, expansive windows give a sweeping view of the golf course which is nice. The gold chairs around every table were elegant except the chair pads on them were dirty. The tables were set up very well. They had round gold paper as table mats which I'm not sure was necessary. The appetizer service was good. They came around about 2 or 3 times to offer meatballs, jalapeño poppers, deviled eggs and bruschetta topped with tomatoes and olives. The appetizers were standard for weddings. They weren't spectacular but they were appreciated. My least favorite was the deviled eggs which I normally love but they didn't prepare it well. The salad was just that salad mix you but at Costco. The waitress literally threw the plate at my husband and I. I think she was on a rush but seriously! The bread rolls were warm and I like the everything seasoning on it. The main dish was good! It was a thick, juicy chicken with melted cheese on top. The grilled veggies were also very good. The potatoes on the side were not bad. The service was alright except for that one incident. The drink service was spotty and not everyone knew that ice tea was complimentary. Overall, I enjoyed the wedding!

In fact they tried to add extra food that was not asked for and when questioned the answer was "my bad", it was 300.00 a tray. I know most of the food was bought at Costco and possibly microwaved. I will say I don't think the cookies were and though expensive were good. I bought 2 beers and a drink at the bar and was charged just over 38.00. Anyone thinking about having an event here beware. The food isn't that good and they are really expensive, plus keep an eye on your receipt.

The current "customer service" of companies these days can be deplorable and my recent stay at Santa Maria Inn ("Historic" or not) sadly proved the lack of service or even trying . In fact, Customer Service was what was missing. For a special trip to see a family member, I drove my elderly mom up from Los Angeles for a one night visit to Santa Maria and chose The Historic Santa Maria Inn in order to keep the money going to a local family business and not a corporation (Hilton, Wyndham etc). My whole family had stayed at this hotel about two decades ago and it was fine. So I booked for a Saturday night (a month or so ago). I requested an ADA room since my 97 yr old Mom would be in a wheelchair. When we arrived, there was a short line and there was only one person working the front desk. Very long wait time to check in. They said they were sold out and we were not getting an ADA room. (My Mom's wheelchair couldn't fit through the little doorway to the bathroom.) And the room was COLD. We couldn't find the remote for the air/heat on the wall and the thermostat was locked. We called for a manager. No manager in house. We asked for maintenance to unlock the thermostat. They left for the night as well. A sold out weekend and anyone who could do anything EFFECTIVE was no where to be found! Needless to say that the night with my Mom was scary and very uncomfortable. No heat or any way to warm the room besides opening our door and dropping our luggage to hold it open. They brought blankets. That is all we were offered during our stay. On Sunday morning I told my Mom that there was no way we were going to have breakfast there (as I had promised her) and as i was carrying all of our luggage, accessories and pushing my Mom's wheelchair to the elevator, a young worker offered to help. He pushed my Mom and got us into the elevator and down to the lobby. He was kind and helpful, something we had not experienced during the night we arrived. His name was, no surprise when I asked him,"Christian." I said he was aptly named and thanked him for the only hospitality that we experienced during our stay, unfortunately we were headed out the door. I don't understand how any management can think they are serving their customers like this. Surely, they can provide assistance, management on sold out weekends and offer air conditioners and heaters that work. Sadly, that was my last stay at this hotel. I had a truly horrible experience. I only gave the highlights.
