Missing green sauce and the peppers my favorite part guess a bland chimmy Chonga for my birthday is better than a kick in the nuts almost 40$

FOOD: Always a hit! From nachos to tacos and everything else in between. Still a staple in SM area. SERVICE: Quick and easy. Only serves tacos once after midnight or 1 am which is fair. AMBIANCE: Small spot with a few tables and chairs. Good amount of parking next to the building. Can get loud depending how busy the place gets. It's a well known spot so depending on when you go it can be hectic. Highly recommend visiting and trying this place out. The food is delicious and prices are reasonable.

Full disclosure, after a Yelp search for Mexican food while visiting the area, we landed on this place to try. We came to find that it is in what some might describe as a "seedy" area. Nonetheless, we wanted to pick up some grub for takeout. The ladies working there were pleasant & nice. The lady who took our order was helpful & answered our questions. They had a steady stream of orders from customers while we were there. They called out orders over a speaker system. The food was quite good & satisfying! We got pastor & carne asada tacos (asked for them with just meat), a big pastor burrito, & thick, fresh fried chips. The taco meat was yummy & had a good char flavor. I was told the burrito came with meat, rice, beans, onion, & cilantro. While it was good, I was not aware that it would also have such spicy salsa inside. The chips were good, but a little oily.

Undercooked trips nachos( in my opinion) I specifically requested the tripas to be crispy

I returned to give them another chance and: "I'm disappointed to say that my recent visit to La Picosita in Santa Maria was a letdown. I ordered the tripa nachos ( for me) and tripa tacos( for my husband) but unfortunately, both dishes were undercooked. To make matters worse, I specifically asked for the tripa to be toasted, but it seemed like that request was ignored. "For $50, I expect better quality food. Sadly, La Picosita failed to deliver. I gave them a chance, but I won't be returning. If you're a fan of Mexican food, you might want to look elsewhere." PS: one theory is, if the tripas are made "crispy" they will shrink in size therefore more tripa will be necessary. Just skimping, perhaps?

Came in for some tacos and I guess I was definitely a little too dark for them. Ordered 8 tacos and asked for 6 salsas (salsa size is tiny) and that was a hassle just like my previous trip here. Said I would pay for extra salsa and was almost charged $4 and change. When I mentioned it, they adjusted it and just added to the order like a side.

Very good food, with fair service. Popular locale to be out of caldo de res and menudo on a late Sunday morning. Putting my stomach first, I was impressed withe their food overall. No frills, just competently made Mexican food. I had an order of carne asada sopes, they were good and did not skimp on any of the ingredients. The red pozole was loaded with pork, meat and skins, helotes, and they were generous with the lettuce slices, onions, onions, cilantro, and oregano on the side. Full of sabor, and piping got. I tasted their carne asada burrito, and the street tacos. Both were very good, and they did t skimp out on the hot sauce on either. The namesake feeling could certainly be taken... meaning they don't redo flavors. The environment is casual and relaxed. A lot of folks moving in and out. You will order your food in one location and be brought that order to your confirmed address This location has small lots on either side of it, and is easily found via digital navigation.

The best Mexican food in Santa Maria, if you're in the area and craving some great Carne Asada, you NEED to come here!

Left over mess not worth even giving away to the homeless or the alley cats!

We were craving tacos and SM had plenty of places to choose from so we assumed that any or most of the taco joints would be amazing. La Picosita was the first name on the list of many potential offerings. Upon arrival we were greeted by the savory street vibe, reminiscent of TJ tacolandia. Low visibility, dangerous back street parking and a million watts of Xmas decorations glaring from the barrio house. The place is nothing great to look at, peeling paint, tight ordering space and the worst thing of all No Beer! We tried figuring out how many tacos to order based on our angry gut syndrome but the gal behind the counter was making a sign letting us know the size of their tacos. Her sign was about the size of a silver dollar or a rat hole. So we ordered and ordered just in case we struck gold in this place and we had to get back in line for our fix. It took about 10 minutes to have our numbered called and when it was I felt like yelling Bingo or UNO but a smirk was good enough at the moment. The smirk/smile was short lived as we dug into our 8 taco pile up turned to a disappointing in mess! The tortillas were suspiciously dry, old and dangerous to eat. They definitely had a recycled vibe about them that was off putting and sad. All of the meats were high and dry and old like bad breath! I left most of my tacos behind because they became inedible and a reminder of how bad this place turned out to be. Save yourself a disappointing trip to LP and look else where even if it means driving to nearby Lompoc and visit Taqueria La Mission!

FYI the food is twice as much as it shows here on yelp such as the taco is $3 per, and burritos are $10.

Good food but the won't be frequenting here anymore. Prices have gone up drastically and the tacos are small, about 2 bites.
