Note two things up front: 4% surcharge on anything but cash and breakfast ends promptly at 10:30 AM. My 828 Omelette consisted of eggs scrambled then cooked until done like a pancake. There were two slices of bacon, a small slice of cheese, a thimble of mashed avocado, and a thimble of Pico. The bacon and cheese were not incorporated into the omelette, but were two slices of bacon laid on the egg with the small slice of cheese and the egg folded over them. The cheese was not melted. The ingredients were good but not combined well. Even with the house potatoes I left hungry. Not worth $13. More like an $8.95 meal. Our other meal was the Farm Fresh bowl. The ingredients were good, but again, in short supply. More like a $7.95 meal. Our other meal was a chorizo omelette, same problems as the 828 omelette. We had three coffees. If you want a coffee refull, it will cost you another buck. Our total for three for breakfast was $46 with a $10 tip. Too much for breakfast for three in a concrete block building. I am not sure what the point of ordering ahead is. I ordered ahead of time and showed up at the restaurant 20 mins later to get the order. I had to wait behind three people who were ordering. I then paid for the food. The 3 people in front of me all received their meals first and then they started working on my order. Terrible service. read more

Excellent choice if you'd like breakfast or lunch freshly and quickly prepared that isn't like what fast food joints and typical diners and delis serve. When I have visited the place has always been very clean, the staff has always been delightful, and the service has always been excellent, and the food has always been excellent. We stopped here for a quick breakfast while in town visiting and it was delightful! The menu was a pleasant surprise and everything we ordered was fresh and very tasty! I got the avo toast with an egg - my egg was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered one of the bowls and that is what I'm ordering next time. The potatoes were SO good! Stop here on our way back from the Smoky Mountains. We initially stopped at Ms. Lois' but we just missed breakfast a little after 11 am so stopped here instead. We are glad we did! The restaurant was bright and clean. Server was friendly. They serve breakfast until 2pm. We had the Guava French Toast and the Fresh Farm Breakfast Bowl. Both were delicious! We will definitely stop here again when traveling to the Smoky Mountains! read more

Customer satisfaction needs to be a little more in the forefront of this business. This morning I ordered a sandwich: 1 egg, 1 sausage patty, 1 slice of swiss cheese, a 1/2 c. fresh spinach & onion sautéed, on a toasted bagel buttered on both sides. It was delivered with raw spinach & onion, no butter. When I asked for it to please be corrected, she refused to take it back to the kitchen, saying "they don't do that". Huh? Say what? It obvious they do that same thing for other dishes offered. I asked her to take it back to at least have the bagel buttered. She said, "I'll bring you some butter." I said, "Just please be sure it is soft please." She came back & handed me 2 frozen solid, foil wrapped butter pats. I left the food on the table (having already paid for it of course) and went up the street to Life's Bounty. Ordered the same exact sandwich, and they actually ASKED me, "so you want the spinach and onion cooked?". This time I got exactly what I ordered...bonus...it was 1/2 the price. 828 Cafe kitchen staff needs to be a LITTLE more flexible and accommodating to the customers. They've lost at least 2 customers today, and this is a small town. read more

The menu looks good. The quality of the food was good but not outstanding. We got the chicken BLT wrap, the chicken burrito, the carnitas burrito and a cherry fruit tart. The ingredients were fresh and cooked well but there was no seasoning. Everything tasted like ingredients thrown together without knowing what they would be put into. Went last year and missed breakfast and left. Big mistake. This time I wasn't thrilled we couldn't do breakfast ( need to get our butts up earlier ) and nothing on the menu looked appetizing to me so I ordered a burger with fries and my husband some sort of burrito. My burger was probably one of the best I've ever had. Fries were delicious and my husband loved his burrito. We'll be back next time we visit. read more

Such a great spot for breakfast!! We just happened to pass by this place and thought we'd give it a try solely based on the cute murals outside. Terrible service and terrible food. Will never return. Tried to order breakfast, it was 10:59 but breakfast ends at 12. So we ordered lunch. It took 30 minutes to come out.
