Strawberry Matcha Latte and sea salt strawberry green tea
    Michelle O.

I chose no sugar for both the Strawberry Matcha Latte and sea salt strawberry green tea. I'm fine with less sweet drinks, but I didn't expect both to be so bitter when they're based on a typically sweet fruit. It kind of tasted like both tea bases were brewed bitter and not light and leafy. The cashier was nice enough to show the new and previous pins in case I wanted the other one as the freebie for purchasing (2) strawberry drinks. The staff member making the drinks was a little off-putting since she couldn't see the cream that was leaking and sitting under the rim of the plastic cover and tried to do a quick swipe and return it with barely anything wiped away when I mentioned it. I still ended up doing it myself. The other members were quick to clean the tables efficiently, so people could use them.

All these options. Where do I even start? I honestly want to try everything. I've been coming here for years, and the quality has always been pretty consistent. It may not be the best Asian-style bakery I've had, but it's definitely not the worst. The service is quick, the staff are friendly, and the space is spacious, perfect for groups.

Amazing bakery in Houston's Chinatown!! And so reasonably priced for the quality! LOVED the Hokkaido cream bun -- so good, such a soft texture with perfect filling (not too sweet) just fluffy!!!! Like a cloud in a bun. We really liked the potato croquette as well as a savory option (crunchy, and I think some corn inside, not too salty) and brought a bunch of other buns home to try. Everything is individually wrapped which makes it easy to carry out. We also had the mango delight that was behind the glass--mild but very clear mango flavor; with beautiful layers inside. Would highly recommend!!! Also nice natural sunlight with a few seats.

Love their pastries and their cashier is fast and friendly. Tried their strawberry danish in season right now and it's cute and delicious. Grabbed a few other slices of cake to share later and they are so cute and I know I my friends will enjoy Try the strawberry danish while in season

So much to choose from. Their buns with cheese are delish. Ordered the mango strawberry smoothie which was refreshing. Would definitely return to hit the sweet tooth!

Always stop by to grab some pastries and desserts when we are in Bellaire. Our family favorites are the chocolate bun and the brioche bread, but there are very few things we don't like. I will say, the prices have dramatically increased from even just last year but I understand the rising cost of everything. The lines are as long as they were when they first opened years ago, but the foot traffic inside can still be pretty bad some weekends. And parking is always a nightmare in this area, so just be mindful of who's backing in and driving into spots!

I've been going to this location for several years and usually visit a couple times throughout the year when I have to host a party. The spinach kale danish is my favorite but it is usually sold out. I once came 10 min after opening and it was already sold out so ended up waiting 20 min for the restock. I also like the egg tart & Hokkaido cheese tart. I've tried the iced viet coffee but it was too sweet for me. My go to is the iced lychee tea. Parking lot is spacious so usually never an issue. The checkout process is usually quick and the staff are always friendly.

Still my favorite place to go in Chinatown. My family and I get the same buns every time. My favorite is the Matcha bun and the Choco buns Oreo buns. All of those are my son's favorite and my husband is the only one that's brave that tries a little bit of everything. I love the strawberry dessert. I don't know how to explain it, but it looks like angel food cake with strawberry and cream. It's so delicious as well as the lemon cupcakes that you can grab on your way out. The service is always good to me. I know they take a while but that's only because you can tell how busy they are but they do have or you can order ahead. You can order from a machine as soon as you get there and wait on your drink they have many options And of course we're in Chinatown so you feel that vibe.

I love 85 bakery. I've never had anything bad from here. I normally order the sea salt caramel latte but they were out so the employee recommended the zebra oolong milk tea. The flavor was subtle. I wasn't wowed about the flavor; I regretted it lol. But whatever I will continue coming back for their baked goods and lattes.

Pastries are good but I wouldn't recommend drinks from here. Here's a picture of a $8 matcha...I think they should've added more matcha and less sweetness. Like it doesn't even look green it's a super pale green/brown color. Probably won't go back

The cakes and milk buns are must!! They sell seasonal items such as mooncakes too. Also slices of strawberry cakes. We usually order our birthday cakes from here. They're fresh and not too sweet '(that's a compliment ) We stopped by after dinner for some desert. Picked up some freshly baked pastries. The line was long but moved quickly.

Visited at around 8pm on a Wednesday night, and the shelves were still pretty well stocked. Egg tarts were limited to the 2 packs and 1 box of 6 reg egg tarts. Egg tarts are always a hit with crispy puff pastry and sweet, custardy egg in the center. I tried the chocolate mousse in a cup. This was a surprisingly tasty dessert! There is a layer of chocolate syrup on top of light chocolate mousse with a Maraschino cherry center. I could do without the cherry center personally, but if you like it then its a nice touch to spice up an otherwise homogenous treat. Three Ferrero Rocher chocolates on top were more than enough to quench my chocolate cravings.

Driving across town for my favorite treats--gotta love the red bean buns! We decided to try a variety and noticed they had a promotion: spend $30 and get a holiday mug for $1. When we got to the register, we asked about the promo, and the cashier said they didn't have any mugs. But there were at least 15 mugs sitting on the shelf! When we pointed them out, she told us they were display-only. A bit disappointing, but at least the treats didn't disappoint!

    Is it keto friendly?

    Unfortunately, it's not ):

Will they bring back the 85 cent coffee on Mondays?

Currently they are doing BOGO Coffee on Monday. Hope that helps!

Is it possible to place a large order for a certain pastry in advance for pick-up? Example 20 milk buns? Thanks!

Yes you can! I see people ordering a bunch of milk buns and picking up their box all the time!

Where is the bakery in katy? Unless it is being built. I don't see it when I type into google maps

I don't think they've announced construction/opening for one in katy. There's one on Katy Freeway and Blalock but not technically in Katy. There's a rumor about them opening in the new Chinatown area of katy but nothing official yet

How about an 85 in katy?

This store is in Bellaire I have not been to Katy location

I see a sign up in Telfair. Are you guys opening up in Sugar Land too?!

Hello Kristy, Yes, we will be opening one in Sugarland soon! There are still some construction…

Fortunately, once you park here, you can pretty much grab some drinks, baked goods, play claw machines, go grocery shopping, etc. Trung Nguyen serves espressos, matcha, phin coffee, phin drips, teas, and white coffee (lighter version). Toppings are $1-$1.50 and includes grass jelly, coffee jelly, cream, single shot, or extra matcha. I've tried their egg coffee, coconut coffee, ube coffee, pandan coffee, and black sesame. Although I love all of them, my current fav is the black sesame! YUM!! I've yet to try their matcha and teas, but Trung Nguyen is always on our list whenever we're in town- so I will for sure try their other drinks at one point or another. Viet coffee is everywhere in Houston (and I love that). With Trung Nguyen, your drinks are consistent, and you can always count on getting the strongest coffee (not watered down) whenever you get their coffee.

I love their app, highly recommend it to pre-order through the app, it's extremely accurate in term of wait time and easy to use. However, there are a couple of downsides: their matcha is just average, their menu is a bit limited, and my favorite drinks are frustratingly often out of stock or out of season. My top recommendations are the Coconut Mango Boom, Cloud Jasmine Tea (basic but so good), Yuzu Oolong Tea, Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Mochi Yingde Black Milk Tea, Grapefruit Boom and the toasty/wheat-y Longji Cloud Milk Tea.

We tried the highly recommended mango boom and the yuzu green tea, which were both solid choices. I downloaded the app and was able to place my order from there by-passing the long line at the counter. However, it still took a significant amount of wait time for my order number to be called to pick up my drinks. The app had some deals that discounted my order, which was a plus. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to return, but if it comes up as a suggested place, I wouldn't pass it up.

The inside is mostly white and going for that IG "it spot" vibe. Most people were ordering their drinks that come with a little slice of tiramisu, but we were there to try just the latter! The tiramisu varieties aren't all truly tiramisu (which traditionally has espresso and alcohol), but they're called tiramisu because there are cookies or ladyfingers layered with their mascarpone cream. I tried the Biscoff Tiramisu-- while they could work on their presentation (the filling looked messy and slapped on), the taste was quite nice! Sweet, creamy, and the mascarpone filling was light and not too heavy despite being sweet and indulgent. I'm excited to try the other tiramisu varieties :D I like how the tiramisu comes in its own container instead of scooped into a takeout box because it's a lot less messy + prettier when eating it. Service was really friendly and there is self-serve water available too. Lots of tables for two but they were all taken during my visit. There's a little table outside in the shade if you're willing to sit in the heat. Overall, 4.5 stars for the tiramisu-- will be back to try some more! Would LOVE to take my cousins here one day…read more Environment/Atmosphere - Super crowded when we got here, but the lines moved fast, and there was a kiosk to self-order if you didn't want to wait in line for the cashier. One of my favorite things was how fragrant the space smelled while I waited for my boba. You could tell there was an exceptional tea aroma lingering despite all the cream and sweetness. The place was exceptionally clean for being so busy, and the workers consistently cleaned as they made the drinks, so you knew you could trust the sanitation here. Drink Design - I have to make a separate comment on how CUTE these drinks were. I loved the intentional sticker placement over the lips and the little carrying handle. You could tell they went the extra mile to make these drinks not just flavorful, but an experience in and of themselves. Even their receipt paper felt luxurious. That sounds ridiculous to point out, but the thought behind every aspect of this place is impeccable. High Mountain Pouchong Tea w. Lemon Juice & Mousse (Creamy Lemon Tart) - After all the sugar I had today, this lemony drink hit the spot with its perfect tartness. The cream had bits of lemon zest in it, adding to the aroma. I tried to adjust the sweetness when I ordered and was told it had a built-in sweetness, but if I found it too sweet, they would happily switch it out for another drink. I felt like I was dealing with Amazon's generous return policy--and luckily, the drink was perfect, so no return was needed! Creamy Mango Tart - Literally like the Lemon Tart, but mango. I loved this just as much and really enjoyed the refreshing flavors of BOTH tarts. Instantly a fan favorite. Dong Ding Oolong Tea w. Fresh Milk - Very mild and creamy, almost like a mellow latte. Not my favorite because it was a bit too creamy after everything else I had today. Still, I loved the tea profile and can absolutely see why others would love it. Overall, I love, love, LOVE this place. 1000/10. From the experience to the quality and intentionality behind every little detail, I couldn't be happier with my visit. I never thought I'd ever say that a drink was so Instagram-worthy, but these drinks were beautiful--like models of the boba world. Would go back in a heartbeat.
