Sometimes I wish they had more variety as they will have the same bread in 3 different areas. I utilized the drink kiosks prior to picking out and purchasing the pastries. It was great to have the beverage ready as soon as you paid for your pastries instead of waiting longer. I don't know if it was my specific drink that ordered, but I was unable to customize the sugar or ice level at the kiosks which was a bit disappointing. This is one of my favorite boba places in the area, I always come here when I'm in the mall. It's a relatively spacious location and they keep it pretty clean. The bakery items are in front and to the left, and on the right side there are a couple chairs and tables for people to rest at. I've never had the pastries at this location, but I can say the drinks have always been great. They ask you your preferences with sugar level, ice and toppings, which I appreciate. There's tons of baked goods here, and I've tried a whole bunch of them. This time I only came to satiate my hunger with a basic garlic cheese bread at around 7:30pm, about a half hour before closing time. Of course it's not as fresh when you have it close to that time but it still hits. There's a slight hint of cheese so it isn't as great as advertised but the garlic taste is thankfully present and stronger. In past visits dating back to 2017 when this location from Taiwan was met with atrociously long lines forming out the door, their pastries were definitely a huge hit. Everything from their heavily stuffed buns to their Portuguese egg tarts to their garlic bread to even their nougat candies made their way to my tray as well. They even have a decent selection of drinks, some of which I'd get two of after some time at Round 1 back then. You can still grab a tray and tonsils if you plan to grab a ton of pastries, though it seems this time they don't have you wrap your own pastries as they had you do while waiting in line. Instead the cashiers do that for you for everything you get that isn't already wrapped. You also order drinks at a separate kiosk near the front entrance, unlike before when you could only order drinks when you reached the cashier and they're counting how many items you've purchased so far. A lot has changed then, though the overall format of the place remains the same; two entrances, with the left-hand entrance being where all the pastries are, the front counter has all the cakes and some other pastries, and several tables are on the right-hand side. Most if not all of my experiences here have been above average, They don't always have the best stuff - their buns can have way too much filling - but I like coming back here every once in a long while just to have some good breads in place of an actual meal. read more

I visited 85 degrees bakery for the first time ever today! I was there on a Wednesday around noon, and there were only a few other customers browsing. I had no idea what to get, so I looked around and watched what items other people had in their tray and tried some of those items. Cashier was friendly. She complimented me on my chicken keychain lol. I bought the egg tart, red bean bread, Hokkaido custard bun, and choco bun. Some guy had a bunch of choco buns on his tray so I thought it must be good. But I thought it was just ok. On the other hand, no one bought the egg tart, and they weren't one of the items labeled as top sellers, so I had some doubts about it but got them anyways - and I'm glad I did because they were great! I'm happy they are sold in two because I get to have another one. The Hokkaido custard bun was also a hit. The bread was fluffy and the cream combination was awesome! I haven't tried the red bean bread yet, so I will hopefully update this review once I get into it. I also liked how cheap items are compared to the one-off French bakeries in Seattle. The baked goods here are way less pricey and they are just as good! I think 85's strength lies in their buns/non-laminated bread. I was happy that I got my fix of buns and fluffy bread with sweet fillings. I can't believe the closest 85C from me is in Tukwila or Bellevue but I'm sure I'll think of their baked goods from time to time. read more

Just like all other 85c cafes, this one is packed but still has the same tasty baked goods and drinks. This time I only went for bubble tea and waited about 10 minutes for my drink. The boba had a nice texture and was sweet and the sea salt and jasmine tea were pretty basic. I'd say the sea salt cream was not as good alone as what I'm used to and ngl I tried it and was taken aback. Next time I might just do a milk tea or something else, but I would go back. read more

I do like using their app for rewards and points, but the in store experience leaves much to be desired the cashiers don't smile or greet, which feels unwelcoming. Came here after the mall for a sweet treat. I got the Hokkaido custard bun and it's my go-to! I love the balance of sweet cream to custard and bread. There wasn't much variety like I remembered, but it probably changed day to day. One of the first 85s I have visited. They did remove some tables and chairs it seems, but have still added more room for the lines of customers. Add the app! Because those points really do accumulate quickly. I'm always impressed with their cakes, as they are a family favorite. We are now obsessed with the ube flavor one. I needed to call them and ask what went wrong as it was not yet delivered, they even told me to call Uber Eats to follow up?! This particular store in Southcenter Mall has had problems for years - the disgusting bathrooms that they eventually gave up on and closed, the insufficient staffing and indifferent management. I thought I'd give them one more try today, and of course they are not open 40 minutes after their stated opening time on the weekend. Several other people have turned away too. A helpful staff member kindly came out and said the bakery was opening late today because there was a "helicopter thing" earlier - and the manager hadn't put out a sign. Very soft, delicious, and flavorful. I got a strawberry de leche from their strawberry festival line. SO GOOD. And they have real chunks of strawberries in there. We also got the milk tea with boba. It was good and it had a good amount of sweetness. And I know they are famous for the sea salt coffee line, but it was notttt it for us. The salt was too overbearing and you could barely taste the coffee. So I do recommend trying a different type of coffee on their menu. When I smell the aroma of freshly baked, warm bread and pastries, I can't help but buy them all! My husband comments that all the pastries and breads at 85 taste the same. But I like the bread at 85 because it resembles the bread from a Japanese bakery. We picked Spicy sausage, Toro puff pastry, Boroh cream denish, 85°C egg tart and Strawberry cream square. Came a lot when they first opened. This is my first time back in a while. You can order drinks in a kiosk and then pay for your baked goods in the line. The line was super duper long. I feel like they need to re-think their system. The two ladies working the cash registers were in and out and everywhere. I think to keep up, they need one person to just stay at the registers (or two if they have enough people). Then have a few people be the go between. Picked up a tray and started navigating through the wonderful assortment of sweet and savory bakery items, cakes and finally some good drinks. We picked up the chocolate bomb bun, strawberry cream bun, pork sausage bun, mushroom bun & deluxe chocolate pastry. I really wanted to try their chocolate sponge roll but they were sold out of that one for the day. All their cakes on display look spectacular and I really had to control myself not to order more here. Their breads looked good as well but I dint try that. Finally ordered their hazelnut latter and this was divine! I asked for soy milk substitute and no sugar but this was amazing. They do have good deals on their app such as BOGO for drinks for the month of March, etc. so download and save some bucks.
